Challenging myself! - A shout out to the community

Okay, as my idea for an MA challenge thing didn't work out so well, I have decided to take it upon myself to be challenged.

'What does that entail?' I hear you cry...

Well, give me some criteria and perhaps even a theme and I will try my best to make a mission/arc based on the criteria.

Please bear in mind the limits of the current MA system and also my sanity.

I will not be making anything with Catgirls or Farms/Powerlevelling Missions.

I am also going to be taking down all of my currently published missions - I feel I can do better than those I have already put out there. Yes, that means I am sacrificing my ratings etc but as people have given feedback, I've seen a lot of the mistakes glaring at me and, rather than editing bits and pieces, I feel I need to start from scratch.

BTW if no one can be bothered to set me a challenge then I will be deleting the arcs anyway.

Make a three-act structured story arc. The details of what this entails are here...

http://www.writerswrite.com/screenwriting/lecture4.htm

... this includes such massive mini-challenges as "YOUR ADVERSARIES MUST BE IN MOTION. Adversaries should not be standing around, waiting to be caught."

Good luck.

Hmm. An interesting idea.

OK then. Here is your criteria:

Recreate Brass Monday and the events leading up to it.

I will do my best... *gulps*

Awww, AP... You can't take them all down just like that... well - you can, of course... but you can't... snofair.

If you do continue as planned: Can you give us an idea when you're taking down your existing arcs?

I've actually been looking forwards to your arcs, but have been running through the CityOfGuides listing in arc id order... I'll only confuse myself if I jump about willy-nilly but want to make sure I catch them before they vanish!

Too late JD, they're all down and deleted (from Live).

The first challenge is going to take me a lot of time to think up something (plus a lot of Wiki'ing for suggested costumes for certain members of the Phalanx: That Steel Canyon map is huge! No way can I make the final mish a defeat all...) - it may be worth me trying it out on Test first due to the changes on there re: powers.

The other challenege is going to be more interesting and perhaps more doable. Hmmm...

Does that mean that they are still available on Test? Or do we need to subscribe to AP Missions-on-Demand service and get the arc files from your own paypal-friendly server?

If you've read the novels, it shouldn't be too hard.

A five story arc in which its a race against time to prevent an enemy group unleash an ancient and evil power.
Arc ends in a cliffhanger which shows the power has been revived (goes onto the second arc then! ).

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

If you want a real challenge that would be a bit odd and hasn't been done yet AFAIK, you could do something that I've been thinking of doing since Beta but haven't got around to yet...

Do a multi-arc truly branching story and make it available for download as the source files...

The idea being it runs like the old fighting fantasy game books:

Starts with arc1:
Sets scene and ends with you finding 2 or 3 clues... Mission return text and souvenir states:
* If you want to pursue clue1 then move to arc7
* If you want to pursue clue2 then move to arc16
* If you want to raid another base then move to arc10

If a mission/arc is failable then the mission fail text can show a different path/next-destination to the success dialog...

Of course you could also include non-arc text/files if you wanted to make it a full-on interactive/multimedia experience... If you have webspace you could maybe even set up some pages/sites for clues to reference...

* If you want to talk to MAGI about clue2 then read file: cbva568.txt
* clue2 mentioned 'ArtiPrin Corporation' maybe it's worth finding out more about them online? (with further info at a pre-constructed website to drop some clues...)

You could throw in a few hastily thrown-together dummy arcs and dummy files to help stop anyone cheating and peeking ahead...

You probably get the idea... though to do it justice it could become a massive task. But you asked for a challenge.

Hmmm, now there's a thought...

It seems that no sooner had I deleted the missions and sent out this shout out, my creative juices have dried up.

I think I'm going to need to take a long time before posting anything...

Do keep the challenges coming (I was, i'll admit, hoping for a few - make a short arc that features bunnies, or something - not EPIC storytelling. I will try my best, however).

A small arc using the age-old theme of hubris?

So does this mean the Twisted Tales can be republished on live for now?

Please...

Oh! How did i missed that one...

I am struggling with an arc for sometime and i really want to play it but either balance/story or language getting in my way.

So here is the sypnosis for the arc i had in mind:

It will be a training simulation by Vanguard/Longbow or maybe Freedom Phalanx by itself. Idea of the simulation is simple, heroes will try to stop Freedom Phalanx. According to scenarios Freedom Phalanx gone rogue some way.

I was thinking it as a high level TF. If you don't find this idea too cheesey i will be happy to see it done.

I'm trying to redo it without the knitted wool plot holes... Expect it Soon
