Another suggestion.

Okay i was thinking about ways to stop farming (level wise, inf in my opinion isn't bad at all) and maybe this could work.

You no longer get xp from people 7 level highers than you? whether you are SKed or not. (not taken into consideration of ranks, i mean actually levels, a lvl 45 should still get xp from a 52 boss for example.

So a level 10 Sked to 49 won't get xp from a 52. It'll stop powerleveling nearly straight away and the impact isn't that harsh on other people.

I think that the level difference between sk and mentor could be a factor in xp earned.

I normally wouldn't sk up to anyone 10 lvls above me. The fact is I really feel the level of fair contribution has somewhat tapered off.

It's like, when missing the powers and slots designed to play at a level you can't help but be sub par. The ability to sk and stick with friends is important but the xp rewarded in the process can be more than actually deserved. So in short the level difference between sk and mentor could be just one of many factors used to scale down xp earned. Other factors include team size and mission setting.

I don't think farming needs to be stopped, unless it becomes abusive like with the MA and rikti farms. So don't bother trying to 'stop' farming because you, just like every other developer of every mmorpg that has ever, is currently in, and will ever be in existence, will fail.

And that would retroactively punish the players who DO game socially, and to be with their friends. Turning off exp after a certain amount of levels is another cause of people to stop playing that we don't need, so no thanks.

No.

Okay, let me elaborate: First of all it does not really matter if somebody is farming for xp or for inf. You may not see the negative impact of inf farming on the economy, but that does not change the fact it is there.
And concerning your point that your suggestion would have little impact on non-farmers... Why would you think so? I could fill pages with examples of completely legitimate situations where a sidekicked toon meets mobs 7 or more levels higher than him.
Think about TF teams who need just one more man to start the TF but can not find one who is high enough to still get xp. Think about a player who sees some friends with a new team in the teens and who wants to join them but first has to catch up to them solo before they can sk him. Or maybe he was in the team to begin with but had to drop out of for a while (hospital stay, holidays, whatever) and on his return finds that the others have gained just a few levels too much so that he again has to solo for xp.
All these players have no intent to PL whatsoever but still find their fun greatly diminished and the purpose of the whole sk-system defeated.

That's how it used to work and it got changed. Obviously the devs thought it was limiting something, like erm... Teaming?

The SK system is one of the features that I likeabout this game. The fact that you as lowbie hero can be the sidekick of that big and mighty well established hero is a good thing. Even if it allows for things like PLing.

The idea is OK, but stopping the XP isn't the way to go. the problem is a low level toon gets the XP assigned to the high level toon. They should really just get the equivilent XP of their level. So instead of 2000xp for that carnie minion the level 5 tank would get 20xp, while the other members of the team get their 2000xp as per normal.

I thought that's how it worked anyway? Admittedly you will always get the equivalent xp of no more than 4/5 levels above your real level as a sk but you shouldn't be getting the equivalent of, say, lv 49 xp if you're sk'd to a 50.
