Not before they improve Ambassador Suicide and General Deathwish.
You all know the steaming turd I speak of (I refuse to acknowledge that as a mission when it is custom designed as a run of punishment) in the Rikti Warzone.
Let me get this straight;
You expect me, that is, one player...right? To get through a mission filled with Nemesis, that is, one of the nastiest mobs in game, right? With two allies that HAVE to survive? BOTH of whom are near suicidal and, even if they aren't, get hit by every one of the considerable ammount of AoE Death that Nemesis mobs chuck out...and they have pet level HP and the old mans only attacks are a pistol and BRAWL?!?
Ye GODS I hate that turd. I hate it so damn friggin' much... -
Quote:Amen. The people who have a knee jerk negative reaction to knockback are the same types who have a knee jerk reaction to confuse. And they are the same types who will kick team members if they click the glowies in the TV respec. They think they know how to play the game, they make assumptions, and they have never bothered to actually observe to see if their belief is founded on reality. I don't consider being kicked from teams like that bad. I consider it a helpful gesture on their part to point out to me that they don't know how to play and would make bad team mates.

Quote:Castle, have you considered just maybe removing all the damn Engineers off the top of those bridges? And, heck, removing the capes from everything except the Bosses on Cimerorans?Incorrect. We've made three passes on that to alleviate the lag. While server side lag is still significant in that location, it is an order of magnitude better than it was at launch. At this point, there is nothing we can do without a massive redesign of that Task Force.
BaBs posted just why we as players would never get more than one cape, and how much capes could impact performace. Why, then, is there an area that is known as a lag killzone, and yet it is literally infested with cape wearing enemies, a very large number of which are never even confronted?
That and the fact that about three ambushes spawn at once, if not more, rather than having them staggered? -
Quote:This.See, that would shut me up in an instant. I would be prepared to bust my whiny *** for as long as it takes to unlock all costume pieces, whether I expressly need them at the moment or not. Once. But right now, I have to unlock them many, many times over, once per character more or less. True, not all of my characters would need all unlockable pieces... But I can't know that until I try them on, can I? And even sticking to just the ones I know would benefit from them, that's still dozens of times unlocking the same thing over and over again.
100 Overseers once is boring but doable. 100 Overseers a dozen times is rage-inducing.
Two weapons in particular Redside make me rage.
Nemesis Rifles and the Red Cap daggers.
Nem rifle pretty much requires you to take Black Scorpions arc or know someone who has it, and grind it at least ten times to get the required ammount of Fake Nems, because Redside is stingy with them, aside from the Rikti Warzone. Either way requires pretty much grinding missions for them.
The Red Cap daggers are worse. 333 Redcaps, which only appear once a year, or if you happen to be dead lucky and know someone who has the repeatable missions from DJ Zero.
While Blueside has an entire zone of them.
'Just side switch and do it then!'
How about go to hell? I have GR, yes. Some people don't. That is not the sort of thing that should be locked out like that. And even if I can do it, it requires even more time and effort investment just to get to Blueside, even on a character I may not even want to take Rogue/Blueside.
The same is true for the Commander Epaulets, which really shouldn't be locked away like that.

Solar Flare getting KD would be awesome. The others are fine as they are. I'd love to see both of them have thier animation times reduced for the form changing too, because its far too sluggish at the moment.
Those would be my only gripes, although the 'always on' suggestion as well as auto-buffing the team as an inherent also made me go 'Gimme'

Quote:Oh, not arguing with that, true enough.I disagree. The only "criticism" he's received is about how he tried to blame the failure of all the other threads on the people that pointed out that the devs have flat out told us they won't consider total/ultimate respec suggestions.
No one has made any personal attacks. Even Sharker and Je_Saist have been restrained. I think the worst thing said was my stating using badges as the reason for change was lame, because making unique badges account based is much easier. And that was intended to be directed more at the previous threads than the OP.
Edit: And for the record, I have at least one character I'd love to do a total respec on if I could, but I understand why the devs continue to refuse the idea.
But we all know that the only 'restraint' Saist has ever had used is the god old 'strapped to the table' one. Just long enough to get the wounded medical staff outta the room
I kid, don't kill me

Quote:Ah, I didn't notice that part of it.The only part of your idea that I really disagree with is giving the newly respec'd character double xp on their trip back to 50. I wouldn't make use of the option if it were available (I don't care about badges, origin, or backstory too much to be honest), but I can't really say I have a problem with it.
Yeah, no double exp. Other than that? I could see it actually working. Wether it actually ever happened? *shrug* -
This thread is worthy;

Quote:In your opinion. And since there is no such thing as a hopeless character / powerset combination, there's no need for this. I've run across some I don't personally *like* (Illusion/anything, Bots/FF) but that doesn't make them hopeless. And with 11 servers with 12-36 slots each (except for the EU,) you've got plenty of chances to roll something else you DO like for general playing, while keeping your badger around for the new shinies.
I, on the other hand, happi- Ok, not happily, but I did it anyway. Deleted my first level 50 character, my Invul/EM Tanker after the nerfs to Energy Melee. He simply felt nothing like the character I created. So, yes, that counted as hopeless, for me.
As I didn't have any of the harder accolades on him, and I had enough respecs to rip most of the IOs out of him, and badges don't bother me, I simply ripped everything and then re-rolled him as an Invul/Elec melee. Still a tanker, same primary...just getting rid of the gutted secondary.
And I get the feeling that people are slamming this OP as the same as all the other badly thought out suggestions that have come in the past. I saw them too. And this one isn't actually bad. In fact, it's pretty decent. -
I'd really hope that there is stuff planned as part of the 'free' issues, and not a trend towards pay-for inclusions. The odd booster is all well and good, but making everything new and shiny a pay-for? No. Not cool.

They need to make PvP not be a giant, steaming pile of turd first. Then they can add more zones and shinies to it.

Sharkers one-liner trademark aside, I think theres a few too many ideas without enough depth to them all in one post to really comment on.
And Welcome to the Forums =] -

Quote:Sorry, I don't buy that.Like I said you clearly don't like the requirements to get these things and that's fine.
Obviously you're suggesting some kind of shortcut method to get these things. More power to you.
I realize you're going to think the Devs are pretty twisted and mean after I say this but I suspect part of the reason why the Devs made these items rewards for completing these tasks is precisely because many of the tasks in question are boring and tedious. It's quite possible if there was no bonus reward then NO ONE would do them. Chicken, meet egg.
Now obviously you could counter that point by blaming the Devs for making sucky content to begin with. True, many of these TFs/missions could be vastly improved to make them more interesting. But here's the rub: No matter what the Devs do to make their game more fun to play there's always going to be some part of it that everyone thinks is the most boring/sucky part. And guess what: whatever that part is will likely have a bonus reward like a costume item attached to it to make people want to run it.
You can either let this issue continue to frustrate you or just let it go.
The choice is ultimately yours.
P.S. I've had all these things unlocked for years on many alts so I hardly give them a second thought even if it was a BAD idea... *shrugs*
Reason? Well, these things were run before weapon customisation even existed. So the 'Running it for the reward' arguement is flawed from the get go. Not to mention most people run the TFs for the merits and, more importantly, the rather nifty accolade anyway. Isn't that enough reward without also gating a decent costume part behind some rather ardous content?
The weapon unlocks are, with the exception of the Council weapons, tied to specific badges. And, for the most part, it's these badge choices that suck.
Red Caps; Heroes get a whole zone full, totally inaccesible to Villains most of the year round
Fake Nems; Incredibly hard to find redside, spawn plenty blueside on Peregrine
Family Bosses; Better than they were, but still 1/2 don't actually give progress to the badge redside.
Paragon Protectors: Entire missions filled with nothing but in Portal Corps, very rare spawns in the Fab in GV Redside, and all at level 53
So...really, that arguement is so much hogwash. -
Quote:Oh no, you misunderstand me.Clearly you hate the things that the game currently "forces" you to do to get these costume items.
That's fine - you're free to have your own opinion on that.
But all I see with the suggestion to make these things available via A-merits it yet ANOTHER restriction on them: You have to be a certain alignment to have A-merits to begin with. As the classic line goes: "Two wrongs don't make a right."
If the Devs ever provide any other way to get these things they should be via a way that is open to everyone regardless of AT or alignment (such as regular Merits or INF).
I'm saying locking costume pieces away behind pointless barriers is a BAD idea.
The Epaulets should be available from creation. End of. Weapon unlocks? Make them for killing 100-200 of ANY of the faction. Like the Council guns do. The recipe drops work fine as they are, as they are not uncommon and also sell commonly on the market.
Stuff like the Nemesis Rifle and the Redcap daggers should burn and die in a hole. Filled with snakes.
Undead, toxic snakes.
With flame breath.
Or they should be easier to get and suck less.
That is all. -
Lemur, Sensei; get a room or take it to PMs, willya?

Quote:You mean forcing people to change alignment wether they want to or not, and do all of pretty much the most boring TFs in the game (bar SSTFs) to get one costume piece?Yes things like the witch hat and the plain epaulets were technically restricted to certain ATs (hero ATs specifically) but now I18/GR has removed that restriction by allowing villains to crossover and earn those items as well.

Oh, and the accolade if they don't have it.
And so help me should anyone go "No ones forcing you blah blah blah-" That is the ONLY way to get epaulets without spikes on. If that is what is required for a concept, that is the ONLY way.
Same as the Redcap daggers. Kill 333 of the little b*ggers? Easy on blueside. Redside? You're stuffed unless someone has the event missions on a loop. -
...
I think I lose. I don't actually have enough facepalm for this thread.

Quote:I believe it is the problem that, for now, SGs are either Hero only or Villain only that means we are stuck with no SGs in Praetoria.I think the thing getting him is less of a rp issue and more of thats 20 levels of waisted prestige his friend could have goten from his preaetorian. They should make SG/VG
1. neutral in the new system,
2. let people check boxes as to permitions
3. base it on leader alignment
(hero- good =hero/vig
villian- bad = vill/rogue
rogue/vig/prae- neutral = vig or rogue
Since making SGs neutral makes a helluva lot of sense, hopefully it is on the future agenda. -

Quote:Alpha loves trip mine. He's got so much defence he just wanders through a mob, setting them up on peoples legs and watching them explodeIt'd take more than that to convince me picking Devices was not a mistake, but that's neither here nor there.
I agree with you that Time Bomb is very rarely taken and even more rarely actually used. At 9 seconds of setup and 15 seconds of countdown, that's longer than some entire spawns last, and that's IF you manage to tag enough NPCs with it, which is far from guaranteed. Solo, it works for toe-bombing as a quasi-nuke... Kind of. It still takes two other powers and bloody ages. On a team, no-one in their right mind is going to sit on their hands for 24 seconds when a good Blaster can spawn-kill most things with direct damage. Fire/Fire comes to mind, just off the top of my head, and Ice/Ice doesn't do too bad, either.
Tripmine's design is questionable, but at least it works more often than not. It really doesn't matter what you do to Time Bomb. As long as it remains the boat anchor of the set, people will skip it and people will forget they took it. I love the damn thing and I keep forgetting I have it on anything but AR/Dev. On my Archery/Devices, I'm better off just using Rain of Arrows + Explosive arrow. It does about as much damage for much less hassle.
So, yeah - give me Orbital Lance even if it hits less hard. I know people would complain about the downturn, especially those who do what I do and toe-bomb, but seriously - as situational and slow to recharge that power is, I dare say those would be few indeed.
Not to mentione the cluster-**** that is laying a ton and then pulling an EB/AV into them.
Fire/Fire is quite correct.
BU + Aim + Fireball + Fire Breath + Rain of Fire = I'm having a dying contest! Look, you're winning!
And now that Inferno is triple damage slotted...
That...or Time Bomb?
Sorry, what's being smoked please, I'd like to try some XD
