Greetings all.
I was running 'The Origin of Power' t'other day and War Witch mentions the age of magic.
I'm far too lazy to find the text and quote it here but she says that the old Gods were banished but that Mankind continued to practice magic, albeit watered down, after this event.
So, are the Banished Pantheon related, in any way, to the banished Gods?
I'd certainly like to see more made of them and, without wishing to sound like a broken record, it might be an interesting development for Dark Astoria as a zone if this were the case and was then expanded upon.
Just a thought. -
I have a defender in the mid-late 30s atm - Infinity Paradox.
He's Rad/Dark and oodles of fun. I tend to start me own teams so i shall look out for Blast Bolt.
What sort of times do you tend to play? -
Quite possibly.
Grr, was just about to start an ITF too!
At least I'm easily dis- Oh look, a penny!
The Sims 3 will have to have the rest of my time for this evening, I guess. -
Whirling Dervish (Earth/Storm/Stone 'troller) occasionally gets a nice response and I once had a character called Psionara (Mind/Psi Dom) at the launch of CoV. I tried rolling her again a while back but the name had gone. Also, someone tried to cyber with me on that toon. Creepy to say the least.
I generally like all the names I come up with, even Arctic Princess, but I wouldn't necessarily say that they were, in any way, cool. -
I'm having the same problem.
Could it be related somehow to the problem with the version of the Test Server? Or the Super Science Booster? -
Hopefully there will be more 'stuff' with the 'Hazard# zones.
As it stands, the Hollows doesn't feel too much like a hazard zone anymore but that might just be due to the amount of time I've played.
Turning these zones (Boomtown, DA, Perez) into 'regular' ones could work.
I think, after the Hollows refit, that Perez is pretty much redundant now and coupled with the fact that it's easier to get from 1-20, it needs more than just a simple overhaul. I'd quite like to see it merged with Galaxy, if that were possible. -
Plus there's a story-arc redside involving an Arachnos agent and a Longbow Warden.
'Tis a shame there aren't any proper [censored] heroes/villains although I can sadly imagine the way they would be received by the 'general' populace. Let alone the outcry of 'CoX made my son [censored]!' (that was an intentionally bad pun, sorry).
Oh and in case the weirdo forum net nanny is in action, [censored] = homosexual. -

MAGI and The Blue Knight (12619)
By @Arctic Princess
-The adherence to ingame canon was well executed, along with the inclusion of the author's own creations and ideas. Worthy of attention

Just a quick note to say: I currently don't have any arcs up on the MA. Real Life (in a very good way, I hasten to add) has kept me out of the game for a while and I took down my arcs because I feel I can do better. Damned perfectionism.
Thanks for the thumbs up though, Xem.
And I would also like to nominate the following:
'Tidebringer' by Col. Blitzkrieger
'...Sleeping Star...' by Leese. - The custom mobs are inspiring (as in, 'I wish I'd thought of that!')

I always liked Just Said No To Superadine.
To date my character Buck the Troll is the only one i've seen with it

AP has it! -
'Medic' on a Storm/ /Storm toon who isn't also using the Medicine pool.
Or a Rad/ /Rad for that matter.
And not because I think it's silly, but it takes some serious healing to get the first badge. And there are so few Fire blasters around these days -
I have three!
Ionos and Arctic Princess were rolled out back in 2005! Ionos got to 30 and then Villains came along and I realised I had no idea how to play the game! It was pre-ED and the old debt system plus I was running the game on a rig which made the Hollows doubly frustrating, with constant disconnects and a lot of performance issues.
I re-rolled Ionos last year and, thanks to altitis for previous characters, he zoomed to 50 and is much fun. He is an Elec*3 Blaster and a total glass cannon. So much fun to play.
Arctic Princess started out as a MA/SR 50s/60s pastiche gettng to the dizzy heights of level 6 (she was my first character rolled), then became a sword-wielding woman (Kat/SR) called Ariadne and got to level 6 too! Then she was rolled out to join Red Commissar's Workers of Eastern Europe SG and the trip to 50 zoomed by. She was so easy to slot and pick attacks for plus play solo in the wee small hours of the morning and I have experienced most of the then content with her (Faultline and Safeguards etc turned up after she hit 50 - I have yet to complete the ITF and STF with her!)
My final 'favourite' or 'gem' is Whirling Dervish. I rolled her the same time as the final version of AP and she's my one character who feels really 'super' She's an Earth/Storm/Stone 'troller.
All three have been easy to play in different ways but slotting-wise I've always managed to get it 'right' for them in terms of my play style.
I have numerous other alts (including a few 50s) who, sadly, haven't felt the same way when I play them. AP is still very much my badgehunter and I just can't be bothered with HEATs, VEATs or badgehunting on my villain. -
No. No. No. No.
I did partake in a couple of runs in the MA after I'd got so bloomin' disgruntled with it that I just rolled a toon from scratch to see how far it could get without really trying.
The toons involved are deleted now. No fun for me.
Plus I'd want the 'Bug Hunter' badge. -
Also not all blasters/corruptors/defenders/dominators have a snipe:
Ice Blast and Sonic Blast doesn't.
Now if some additional ancilliaries were brought in for Scrappers, Tanks, Brutes, MMs (do they get a snipe same as Stalkers in their PPP?), Widows, Soldiers, PBs and WSs then fair enough.
TBH I always thought that the Munitions Mastery APP (the Blaster version) would make perfect sense to any AT. -

Ruffs, plunging necklines, tights/leggings for gents,
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure that came out the way you wanted

On the contrary, my dear GG, it did!
Oh, wait, I see what you mean! -
Okay, okay, I wasn't entirely sure if this should be in Jay's thread but I've had a few ideas over the weekend re: historical costumes.
We can unlock Greek-themed togas/sandals/hair(!) from the Valentine's Event.
We can unlock Roman armour from the ITF.
We have access to the Valkyrie parts via the Mac Pack.
We, as Veterans, have access to Samurai Armour.
We also have some fairly shoddy 'pieces' at the moment (Egyptian headdress, viking horns, saxon helmet - please remind me of the rest if you feel the need)
I'd like to see some full costume sets with an historical flavour please. The following would be coolawesomesauce:
<ul type="square">Egyptian - to include headwear options, make-up options, wristbands, cloth tops, tunics and a 'Horus/Osiris/Isis' emblem (much like Horus's chest emblem from the Top Cow run).
Wild West - although we have cowboy boots and dusters it would be nice to have another hat, maybe a neckerchief shoulder option, a proper leather/normal waistcoat, chaps and boots with spurs. With the advent of Dual Pistols coming Soon, I think a full Wild West/Gunslinger costume set would be a nice touch.
Vampire/Vampyre/Vamp (depending on Gothiness) - Some more low necklines, maybe a longer slit-skirt, a BIG collar cape, some BIG hair (for the ladies - think Elvira - with an option of having a mallen streak/badger stripe). It is much easier now, imo, to create a classic vampire look but there's still plenty of room for a full set. Web lace design sheer tops for females, bat emblems (no, not THAT bat emblem
). Oh and a 'stake' skin option for Dual Blades
WWI/II soldier gear - Proper camouflage options with a more old-fashioned look/feel to the costumes. The current military options are either a bit modern (military jacket, camo trousers) or hilariously OTT (epaulets, especially the spikey and giant varieties).
Elizabethan (insert other major Colonial power for Europe etc here) - Ruffs, plunging necklines, tights/leggings for gents, bustles for ladies and buckled shoes for all! Elizabethan would work quite well with any Carnie-themed villain/hero/rogue(!), imo.[/list]
That's all for now. Just a few random thoughts with no evidence for what I meant them to look like. If this does get shunted over to Jay's Costume Thread then I will attempt to do all that malarkey there. -
I think the OP meant that the EB is fleeing to get out of melee range. I've noticed it happen a lot more recently and have no idea why.
The old culprits were solely [Element] Casters from the Circle of Thorns and when it was just confined to them it felt like it was a character trait for the Thorns.
Reichsman was bobbing all over the place t'other day and not in a particularly tactical way and not, if memory serves, because of any 'run away' powers such as Caltrops or Rain of...
I'd hazard a guess that this was some kind of bug, crept in after MA. Perhaps the particular EBs you went up against were flagged as 'Ranged' and preferred to fight at Range.
Who were they, as a matter of interest? -
In lower levels, Sleep can buy you time in combat too. Mass Hypnosis is cefinitely useful later on but a single-target Sleep (especially early on with psi damage) is a useful thing indeed.
Plus, it looks cool -

The whole Striga Arcs where good fun as well. "Can't we just let them kill that doctor?"
[/ QUOTE ]
I ran, one very quickly after the other, the Striga Arcs with 2 Defenders a while back.
It was a PuG to start but we all got on really well and had a few substitutes along the way. Striga is a brilliant place to play, imo, and underused only in as much as it isn't advertised like the new content is (i.e. there's no - Stephanie Peebles wants to talk to you).
I think that if they re-jigged these missions, instead of just including them in normal contacts (i.e. the 'Go see Gordon Bower'/'Stephanie Peebles' ones from whomever your current contact is) and gave them pop-ups then there'd be a shift of people moving back to these zones which are, to my mind, where I have really learned to play the game. They're also a fun run (from 20-35, if you do Croatoa too) and the story arcs are very engaging.
Back to the OP - I miss TF shout-outs too. One particular shout-out lead to an enjoyable Positron. Yes, that's right, enjoyable! -

So I'll check it all out tomorrow.
Shame I'll have nothing to do on Friday though.

Logged in to test server, tried TF (hero).
Seen it all (well mostly). Really not worth raving over.

Concurred.
Villains get, imho, a better SF but otherwise not really worth an issue. Would have been better to include some proliferation of powers. Would it really have been that difficult to proliferate Trick Arrow to Corruptors? -

I think it's a shame that the BP only get a few boring one-offs and a very dull story arc (Wheel of Destruction).
[/ QUOTE ]
Two story arcs. There's also Scroll of Tielekku.
[/ QUOTE ]
I stand corrected, although this is equally a very dull arc in my opinion. -
My Stalker (Dm/Nin/SM) can take on EBs but not sure about AVs.
As can my Scrapper (Kat/SR/BM) and Blaster (Elec*3).
I assume that a Fire/Kin can take on pretty much anything.
TBH though I would hazard that most ATs/Powersets could take on AVs solo if they were kitted up with Purples and such.
Anyway, why do you (the OP) ask? -
Your 'Pinball' attack did 123456789101112 untyped damage to Fake Nemesis!
-
Sorry, I was referring to 'types' as in "+Special (i.e. extra damage to robots/undead etc)"
I know that some mobs have their resistances set to different levels. For example Hellions take more Cold damage, Clocks take more Psionic damage and Carnies take more Lethal damage.
I was hoping that there would be a 'few' types because I had an idea (which would be posted in Suggestions) for a new Secondary set. I have a feeling that only Robots and Undead are classed as separate. -
Apart from Robots and Undead, are there any other 'critter types' in-game?
Certain powers (EMP, Ghost Slaying Axe) do special damage versus these types. I just wondered if there were any 'others'. -
Although I applaud the thoughts, it all sounds a bit like a certain set of powers from Final Fantasy: Tactics...
