[/ QUOTE ]
Uhm...letting your team mates die when it could have possibly been avoided by a heal is generally a bad thing, FYI. -

We will have to agree to disagree here. I think the comm officers were a massive exploit in that they were not being used as intended and gave at specific levels extreme amounts of xp far and above anything else possible in the game. People knew this and exploited the heck out of it, I can't personally see how it isn't an exploit despite how long it took the devs to deal with it and despite how public it was.
To keep with the analogy its kind of like the last forest ranger that used it forgot to put the gate back the last time they used it and they didn't get around to either fixing the gate or closing it for a few weeks.
[/ QUOTE ]
The devs knew when they put them in MA that Comm officers gave more XP than normal, and still they moved foward. They knew it when they did their own internal testing, and still they moved foward. They were told in closed and in open beta that it would be exploited, and still they moved foward. As far as I'm concerned, and I guarantee I'm not alone in this, if it can go through such extensive testing with full knowledge of the potential exploit and still go live, then it must be working as intended.
To use your analogy, the forest ranger forgot to close the gate despite the fact that he was told repeatedly over several weeks that the gate was open and that he needed to get his [censored] over there and close it. He's got nobdy to blame but himself if the bears got out and raided everybodies picknick baskets. -

The PvP zone minigames are pretty much failures, really. I ain't sayin' they suck...but it's clear not many folks really bother with 'em.
I suspect the original CoV developers wanted the zone minigames to be the primary activity in PvP zones. That's not what happened.
[/ QUOTE ]
The biggest reason the mini games are a failure is that, for the most part, they require teaming to play them. For whatever reason, this is something people in this game are loath to do where PvP is concerned. Everybody wants to take their AT of choice and be the lone wolf. This is a recipe for failure on many levels, and the biggest reason so many people were frustrated and confused by PvP. It has been mentioned many times in these forums and in game, PvP was originaly balanced for teams, not 1 vs 1. So people would go in solo and get crushed by a team then come here to the forums and complain about how unbalanced it was and never realize that the fault was theirs because they were doing it wrong.
Mini games in PvP will always fail unless the devs can find a way to get people to overcome this stupid aversion that people have to teaming in PvP. -
[ QUOTE ]
I have nothing against pvp as an activity, but there is a sizable minority of players so narrowminded and vile even a neutral soul like myself occasionally roots for its demise, just to be rid of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
The same could be said for every sub-population in the game. You know first hand the hate that ebil marketeers generate. No doubt, many of your "victims" consider you narrow minded and vile. Would you want the devs to completely revamp the market by setting fixed prices for everything because people complained how horrible you were?
I don't care if you want to call out specific people as the [censored] they are, but when you call out a whole group remember you may eventually be calling yourself out as well. We've already been seeing it. PvPers were called out. Now farmers are called out. Who's next? What group gets the devs attention in the next issue because people on the forums have to pass judgement on how everybody else plays? -
[ QUOTE ]
That's why I cheer every time PVP is crippled into complete uselessness It's munchkin-repellant.
[/ QUOTE ]
What a wonderfull attitude that is.
"I'm so glad when other peoples experiences in this game suck so that I can feel good."
You could at least try to show a better attitude than those whose behavior you say you dislike, because right now you are no better than they are. -

Going Rogue expansion should let all AT's be on either side - PvP balanced
except for the lack of redside players
[/ QUOTE ]
Or the lack of blueside, if everyone swings to red.
[/ QUOTE ]
They won't.
Gone into a PvP zone redside lately? Notice how 80% or more of the villians in the zone are Stalkers?
That's what blue side will look like. A whole lotta sitting around waiting for somebody to be visible. -

Defense based characters have no business in pvp anymore. So QFT.
My Widow use to be very good in PvP with soft cap defense + some, but now, I don't even try to pvp with her. Almost 1.5 billion infamy build is gone down the drain and now respresent 5 million SO build that can't perform for crap.
[/ QUOTE ]
I would strip down my Widow, but I just don't give a [censored] anymore. -
[ QUOTE ]
Travel powers in combat were OVERPOWERED before, they aren't UNDERPOWERED now. I-12 PvP was a joke as the players that got a lot of kills weren't all that good, they just thought they were.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you really trying to say that it was the movement powers that allowed people to get a lot of kills and not skill?
Really?
[ QUOTE ]
I go into RV and its always busy. I-12 PvP, I'd go into RV and it was a ghost town.
I got into Siren's Call and there are always players there. I have no idea what you are talking about.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know where you play, but Freedom PvP is a ghost town now compared to what it was before. I used to go into Sirens at peak and have to turn down all my setting because there were so many orange names it was a slide show on my computer.
Not anymore.
Maybe you play on a RP server that now doesn't have any real PvPers so all the catgirls can come out and cyber in RV. -
Seriously, if you need more than Brawl+Flurry you are just a noob and need to lrn2pvp.

Banes get 10% damage resistance.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's pretty lolzy when every other squishy gets 28% (reduced from 40% DR). 10% don't mean jack.
I've still had some success with my Bane, but it definately required a change in tactics from i12 play. -
[ QUOTE ]
Yeah. It'll be a zone full of Brutes and Stalkers, not Blasters and Stalkers.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep, so much for diversity. -
[ QUOTE ]
Takes my whole tactics away.
[/ QUOTE ]
I think I see the problem... -
Corrs are not for the solo minded player unless you are dueling in the arena. If you enter a zone as a Corr, be prepared to be farmed as you will be the easiest visible person to target. It is essential to have other players watching your back becasue you will be ganked repeatedly. There's a very good reason you rarely see Corrs in zones.
-
[ QUOTE ]
An ss/fire brute would do very well in zone PvP, especially sirens. So would any stalker.
Corrs are a lot harder, since basically the whole zone will go only after you. When it's 5 brutes, 10 stalkers, and 1 corr....you can guess who will be the target of literally every single opposing player in the zone. Because of this, corrs (or squishies in general) usually only thrive in large groups.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is so true it's not even funny. Going solo as a Corr is not a viable option. -
[ QUOTE ]
why not sit and fight, i mean thats what pvp is. Fighting to the death.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree. However, I feel it should be the other persons death, not mine. If running away means I can regroup and find another way to win, then by all means I should be able to do that. There is more to PvP than button mashing till somebody drops. It's called tactics. Even if you've never employed it, I'm sure you must have heard of it by now. -

This is a fun 3 mission arc that I think people will enjoy. Some dated references that show my age -

Lazors not be an dbag and i actually love my ice/cold but srsly it is worthless Just reroll into something /cold; AE can get you fast to 50 :x
[/ QUOTE ]
This is truth.
I have both an Ice/Cold and a Dark/Cold and the Dark without IO sets is much better than the Ice that is fully decked out. -

I read through some of the thread but got bored, so this might've already been said.
Compare the following two statements:
"It's your own fault. You shouldn't have started whining on broadcast. Of course people are going to start verbally abusing you if you do that!"
"It's your own fault. If you hadn't worn that skimpy dress they would've probably left you alone."
[/ QUOTE ]
Sorry, but not even remotely similair.
A more accurate comparison would be:
"It's your own fault. You shouldn't have started whining on broadcast. Of course people are going to start verbally abusing you if you do that!"
"It's your own fault. If you hadn't yelled the N word at a Black Panthers meeting, maybe you wouldn't be in a body cast." -
Dude, you might as well. It's not like it's a big investment anymore since AE farms will get you to 50 in a few hours with PUGs.
-
I was reading something about this in one of the other forums. It has to do a change they made to stop IO effects from overlapping when zoning. Apparently unique IOs like Numinas were stacking bonuses when zoning, and for some reason that was a problem. I've stopped trying to understand why the devs do the things they do when those things they don't like don't really have any impact on the game.
-
Fire is best because because you can get more damage. KB protection is easy to get from IOs and/or Acro, which you should be taking anyway. With the recent buffs, Invuln is better than WP by a good margin.
-
My Ice/Cold Corruptor rarely has problems with Ice Blasters. I have everything they have plus massive debuffs and pretty significant resistance to their damage types. I've only faced one Ice Blaster that I couldn't beat.
-
The change to phase shift was a good one. It still provides some level of protection, while adding another level of strategy. Knowing how and when to use it is much more important now.
The reduction in Elusivity powers may have been too much. While many of those powers were a bit overpowered before, they now are back to being almost useless again. Even in their overpowered state, it was a refreshing change to have defense actually be usefull for once. Please re-examine the numbers so that a more comfortable middle ground can be reached.
Also, if possible, could Banes be looked at as another AT that could get Elusivity in it's powers. Bane Spiders seem to be stuck in some kind of middle ground that gives them some defense (but no Elusivity, making the defense almost useless) and some resistance. The problem is that because Banes have two very low resistance powers, they do not benefit from the "free" resistance that squishies get in PvP. This means that a Blaster with no armor powers has more resistance than a Bane with two armor powers. That doesn't seem right in my opinion. I can understand not wanting to grant that free resistance to a AT that has defensive powers, but without Elusivity that defense is next to useless after DR reduces its values. Please look at either granting Elusivity to Bane Spiders or letting them benefit from the free resistance. -
These sets are a great way to reward players for using the arena and PvP zones the way they were intended. Please, PLEASE, do not give in to people asking for these sets to be made available from other means. To do so would completely defeat their purpose.
