Quote:So it's WAI, but they're fixing it? I hate devspeak. Please see my replies here.

My thoughts too. Add "warn me when..." to options, and let hide mean hide.
-
No one else finds this annoying?
-
Yup, same here.
-
Anyone know if Reichsman will be fixed soon as well?
-
Yeah, I saw that. Can only say what worked for me of course, but if all else fails, perhaps a wipe and reinstall or even a new HDD might do it. Of course your issue might not be as intractable as mine was. By all means try the easy stuff first.
-
I had similar problems a while back, and the only thing that fixed it was installing win 7. I was on XP at the time. It's possible that just wiping and reinstalling the game was what did it, but I dunno. Here's an old thread I started with a bunch of advice that didn't help:
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=141370
I also got similar errors in Champions Online, and there were a few threads on their boards about it (and Googling just now I found there were a few on the Star Trek Online boards too).
None of the file verification or deleting checksum advice I got did anything, because the files aren't actually corrupt (at least mine weren't). As far as I can tell, this may be a disk read problem, or some kind of hardware conflict I couldn't figure out. One thing I can tell you is that the hard drive I was using eventually crapped out, but it was a long time afterward.
For me, rebooting solved the issue temporarily, although it would always come back eventually. As I said, the only thing that actually worked was formatting the drive and installing Windows 7. You might consider getting a new hard drive and using it as your C drive. Good luck. -

Yep, this is my experience as well. "Appalling" is a good word for my feelings about it too.
-
Seriously, why?
I've been selling things at the auction house for a long time now. I know that posting a high price makes for a large fee. And just because I have am IO in my inventory doesn't mean I want to craft it, so I don't need anybody reminding me that the Ceramic Armor Plate I'm trying to sell is a component in the IO I'm going to sell at the store.
When I click "Hide Useful Salvage Warning," I MEAN IT!
When I click "Hide Large Auction House Fee Warning," I MEAN IT!
What I do NOT mean is, "Warn me again, every time I try to sell anything forever, because nothing makes me happier than unnecessary mouse clicks and focus interrupts." No, that is not what HIDE means. HIDE means HIDE. As in, go the hell away.
This is a bug whether you know it or not. I hope you do. -
Quote:This. This. This.Or better yet, just fix it so you can keep the "Hide usefull salvage" thing at enabled when you zone. Tired of being asked every single time I go to sell something.
You see, I was of the understanding that "Hide Warning" meant HIDE WARNING. You know, like the Cooperative Zone dialogs. When you hide them, they stay hidden. Apparently, the "Hide Warning" buttons for 'useful salvage' and 'large auction house fee' are just there to mock us.
I hope these are bugged and not WAI, because if they are WAI, whoever intended them to work this way is.... not smart. -
Are you sure it's not your internet connection or your router causing the issue? I find I get mapserved when I'm running uTorrent, because my router gets overwhelmed with connections and dumps the whole lot every once in a while.

This is a real pain in the butt. As is the Wentworth's / Black Market thing.
Come on guys, we're all rooting for you. -
Just wanted to say that I changed the process priority for Skype.exe to high (it was set to "below normal") and the problem went away. I even jacked up my graphics settings to test it and it ran great.
I can't rule out that updating drivers fixed it, but I think it was the priority change. -

I'm having similar problems with Skype that started when i17 dropped. I can hear the conversation just fine, but friends report that my voice drops out. It's not a loose mic cord, and the problem goes away when I alt-tab out of the game. CPU usage is very high, but I don't really see why it would crowd out only my outgoing voice.
I did install new Realtek Audio drivers for Win 7 (Asus has no Win 7 updates) and new Nvidia drivers today, so we'll see how it goes. I'll also try setting the process priority to high, but expect it'll probably screw something else up. Otherwise I'll have to dust off the old PC just to run Skype. This really needs fixing.
My system:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64
2.53 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo
ASUSTeK Computer INC. P5GC-MX/1333
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT
4 GB RAM -

I've been mapserved before, but usually when I log back in I still have whatever rewards I gained beforehand. just a few minutes ago, a few minutes after getting an unbreakable constraint among a few other IO drops, I got mapserved, and when I logged back in, I had no recipes at all.
Does this happen regularly? Is there anything I could have done about it? For instance, if I had quickly exited the game before getting kicked out, would that have affected anything?
I guess there's nothing to be done about it, but considering how infrequently we get purple drops, this was pretty annoying. -
MA gave Michael Jackson McCauley Culkin's phone number.

Same error has recurred. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to put up with it. As to my hard rive going to pot, I'd be more inclined to agree if I encountered anything similar with any other program, but I don't.
I'm due for a wipe and reinstall anyhow, so I'll do that soon. Thanks again everyone. -

One? That's kinda cheap. -

Positron's dev diary and the updated GR web site are great, but I'd like a little more info, like the targeted release time frame. Not a date. Just a year.
This year? Next year? 2020?

I'd starting backing up/moving critical data OFF that drive immediately.

Yeah, I already copied most vital data to an external drive in anticipation of the dreaded click of death. I try to have at least two copies of any work-related stuff on different drives. -
Thanks so much for the help guys.
Just an update: I forgot to include this error message which occurs once in a great while as I'm actually playing:

./piggs/texVWorld3.pigg: Corrupt pig file detected

Your data might be corrupt, please run the patcher and try again

I've also gotten the same error involving the pawn shop texture.
Anyway, I took all of the advice here--ran chkdsk, which was pretty alarming since for some reason there was no video during the scan (some conflict with the onboard video card I think--at one point after installing the 9800gt, the video was going to the vga out until windows started and then switched to the new card, even now every time I boot it tries to install the onboard video), then deleted soundpowers.pigg, texVWorld3.pigg, and coh.checksum. Then I ran a defrag, rebooted, and ran the updater.
No errors so far, but it's only been a day and a half. I've got my fingers crossed and I'll keep you posted. Thanks again. -

If you're on Vista, there should be some way to adjust the volume for just CoX using Vista's sound system... How you'd go about that via keybinds I'm not sure, but there should be some way.

I'll be switching back to Vista at some point for the TV-recording feature, so thanks for that info. Had to reinstall XP because I was getting a display driver fatal exception and the hotfix page was bugged(!), but I think I have that figured out now.
