I can't think of anyone I know who watched it for "plot".

As for her actions on Manticore... let's not forget he had Kalinda rummage through there, too, so congrats on behaving like Recluse's pet Fortunata. Besides, what the hell were you looking for in his brain? The best I could think of would be "looking to see if Sis P. is hiding in there".

Out of Character: Lose the face plate-thingy and tone down all of the strapping and I could tolerate it. It very much looks like something a late-teens early 20's woman would slap together. I think what may be throwing us off is that they didn't narrow her waist just a hair on her in game model (while keeping her waist and bust size realistic) before tossing her in to a more mature outfit. Not much would be needed but it would make the over the top look a little less jarring.

In Character: It gets funny. I don't do much on-board RP, but I have a running list of what my character would do/think at any given bit of plot. So my vigilante pre-teen character is thinking 'No, they just let me in the door again, so I shouldn't do the judge and jury thing even if I'm cool with it'. Okay, uhm, "Sorry, you're under arrest for your attack." Back at the base Penny does the teenage girl thing of talking to someone about the person trying to talk to her ((Seriously Penny, we stopped doing that in high school.)) and implies my character is lacking a vital quality that would make her 'human'. *big sad eyes* *sniffle* *gets mad* "Ha! Well you have the same boob size and waist thickness as a 12 year old!" *goes to get pat on the head and told she did good by Manticore*

Brilliant idea! Every so often type "/e dance". Then stand up and mimic the dance you character does. But don't tell anyone around you beforehand, it's better if you surprise them.
  4. The Rogue part is in reference to the expansion called Going Rogue that allows you to start in Praetoria, the "alternate universe". So if you click that option you'll start there instead of in the main game.

The main storyline in Praetoria runs through level 20-ish. At that time you are asked to select between going to the Rouge Isles (red/villain side) or Paragon City (blue/hero side). You don't have to go but once you decide between blue or red and leave Praetoria you can never take a mission in the main city again. You can get the expanded stuff in First Ward and Night Ward, but once you touch the portal go on to the main part of the game, they will never give you even a random mission in the main city again.

And no, there's no DFB... the entire city is one big DFB (including actually fighting in their clean and spacious sewer system). You gain levels fast, really fast, due to all of the enemies you fight. Not quite as fast as DFB, but you'll have something more to do than just charge through a straight line beating up anything in your way.

However, there is the catch you pointed out. Sadly, hardly anyone plays there. I've played entire nights with no one in sight unless I have my regular playing partner online at the same time. Granted I'm on one of the smaller servers, but I'm guessing that even on the large servers there's not too many people who play there.

If you'd like to get a taste of what it's like, hop over on one of your current characters and wait for the protest zone event in Nova (it happens by the statue of Mother Mayhem once an hour or so). Kill several protesters or a single seers to pick which side to support (pro-government or anti-government respectively).

It's clean, it's beautiful and has unique, hard enemies. You get great experience and can walk away with some nice common salvage (I had a character stroll in to blue side with 15 luck charms on her). And if you are in a super group, you get 100,000 prestige (no, that's not a typo) each and every time a Praetorian joins. But you'll most likely be playing solo.
  5. NaNA and Taci have a brilliant idea for what to do during the main Mako Week event on Tuesday.

But we want it to surprise the Red Names, so we can't say it here.

So contact @b.viking or @tacitala to hear it. Please help us pull this off. Pretty please with sprinkles?

DM: "Hey so, [name of unpopular person] quit the game. What should we do?"

Players: "Let's kill his characters. We've spent a lot of time out of game discussing how to do it, so we're all in agreement on what to do."

DM: "I see your point I guess. Well, I disliked the guy too, and his first character was really obnoxious, so I'll allow you to arrange them to be killed in a way that breaks their character's personalty."

<player mayhem, the offending players rejoice and burn the character sheet.>

DM: "OK, I see your plans for how to take out the second character. But it would take a series of almost improbable events to occur. So it is a really difficult roll."

    Players:

DM: *rolls dice, sees that it comes up as anything other than the results to do it... ignores the actual roll/bumps dice* "Hey, you made it!"

    <players get lighter>

DM: "And now we shall never speak of the characters again. They never happened, so lets' just pretend anything associated with them never happened."

Keeper of Forbidden Lore* near by: "You know it would take Yog-Sothoth grade time shenanigans to pull that off last one. I can see about a half dozen ways to bring the characters back if you'd like to fix it."

    <everyone in the other group>:

Keeper: *shrugs* "Well, at least I got some atmospheric smoke and sulfur reeking of ancient, unknowable horror. So you're approaching the temple of the Black Pharaoh..."
    ---

As a completely unrelated note: I can think of about a half dozen ways to bring States or Sister Psyche back. But I'm pretty sure no one in charage of plot would listen to me.

  8. I'm not sure if I should post all 12 in one post. If you would like me to break it up in to 4 separate posts, let me know. And mine is a lot less fancy than the others. Anyway, global is @Tacitala.

OK, first up... Swan, Aurora. I don't care who stole who's look, but this ends now. You even have the same hair. I flipped a coin and Swan one, so I'll give her look first.

    Swan:
As her name actually has something white in it, I kept her with a (mostly) white/gray look. However, in a play off of her name, I brought in some black (as in a swans eyes have touches of black around their eyes). I also left her shoulders bare (no shoulder pieces), as she technically would have her awesome swan cloak around her shoulders. Oh, and in honor of the screw job Sister Psyche got put through, I put pants on her.

    Aurora:
Since the Northern Lights have purple in them, that's the color I went for. Plus, it looks good on her skin tone. I know Mother had some of the purple thing going, but Mother is a brazen hussy. Thus, Aurora has a classy purple.

    Mynx:
Mynx, honey, I know that you're technically in a blue and white striped body suit but it looks all the world as if you're fighting crime naked. I kept her color scheme, but I put something that brought a collar (no, not that kind) up to her neck so she didn't look so... nude while at the same time keeping her cheerful blue and white look.

    And finally, Ms. Liberty:
I thought at first "Yay! I can tone down her look!". Then I realized that she's lost the two most important people in her life as of recent. So go for it, dear. If there was a top, you must have missed it when you went over it.

  9. I ran across a theory once that the longer you live, the less amount of time each day is to your overall life. A week in the life of a 7 year old passes sooo slowly because each day is more a percentage of their age (7 days out of a little over 2550 days) than say a 35 year old's (7 days out of over 12700).

Which means that a day passes really quickly for beings as old as Rikti.

Which means the Rikti, like me, had to stop and look at the calendar to remember "Hey, today's Friday. Where did this week go?"

Gear, we don't need gear, we're super heroes/villains (poses dramatically). No really, our clothes are just here to make us look epic and cool rather than give us benefits. Make a character with powers you think would be fun to play (don't worry about what to play other than 'something fun'- all of the character archetypes are more or less balanced with each other when it comes to how strong they are), a background story fitting your character, and an awesome outfit then enjoy being super.

Don't worry about farming for gear/money. You'll make more than enough money to support yourself by just playing the game.

And that's the big thing: please sit back and enjoy the plot. No really, there's some good stuff in it. There's some bad plot too... Just relax and play the game.

i won't be able to make the most optimal PVE or PVP build?
People have said what the benefits of being a VIP are already, so I won't repeat them. I will just repeat that there's no archetype that's stronger than the other. Game balance is serious business to our devs.

edit: if there are any buys that would help me out greatly @ creation, i wouldnt mind shelling out some dollars
    thanks!
I'll second the cape unlock. I mean seriously- the game has it built in so that your cape will flow behind you dramatically, even inside a building.
  11. Actually I would say use the Imperial Dynasty stuff for her hero costume, and maybe some of the samurai stuff for her royal. Hrm, the Wiki doesn't give really good pictures. Give me a bit so I can fire up the costume creator and take some screenshots of the costumes in use.

Edit: I'll re-post if the thread gets deleted. And wow are there a lot of things in the Imperial Dynasty pack. Here's the two faces (Imperial Dynasty vs. Face 17). Personally I like the free one (17) than the bought:

Here's a pair of looks that mixes in bought items (the first would be her courtly look). I used the bridal skirt and pattern, since there wasn't an Imperial Dynasty skirt that I found:

And this is a pair of outfits that I know everything is free, to the best of my knowledge:

There's a hair style Fancy Braid that looks really nice too but I'm not sure if it came in a pack, thus I left it out. There's no kimono style tops. I'm willing to bet that clipping on one would be a massive problem.

Tanks- we aren't glamorous, but the builds are (usually) very forgiving. It can be quite fun knowing that you can't be hurt, even if it usually takes you all day to knock someone out. Brutes are another good choice- just a touch more fragile, but they can dish it out better.

Both are relatively simple to play, but that's what can make them so fun in my opinion. You can spend less time worrying that your build isn't right.

Don't worry about laying out invention sets until level 40 or so. You can do just fine on regular single origins until then. Heck, I know someone who's gotten his super strength/willpower brute up to incarnate using mostly nothing but SOs and is doing just fine.

And I agree that masterminds can be tricky to play since they are so different from the others. It's basically trying to coordinate a one man team, when everyone else on the team is an overeager scrapper.

    I'm just getting in to making missions and I have that happen a lot >.<;;

    See if this works:
Set A so it's at the front of the map and B is somewhere in the middle or back (works best on a longer map).

Have B set to be available from the start of the mission. Since it's further back on the map, they should run in to A before B. Unfortunately this means someone could go directly to B and activate it before A is rescued...

Then go with the escorting and betraying.

Well, fine. You can go cradle the Arbiter bots like baby blankets and forget that they will be blowing up your stuff too. By the way, if you manage to die while holding out that you don't want to fight because it might help others out too, my Night Widow is looting your house, just so you know.

  18. I thought this would be about bringing Sis Psyche back (because it's so very plausable) and having her get pregnant (which could be an explaination as to why she wasn't as active anymore and Penny was still filling her spot).

Besides, do you know utterly awesome having a sleep over at the Sinclair kids would be for a pack of 9 and 10 year old kids?

  20. That would be the character Tacitala (level 50 inv/ss tanker), with the global name of @Tacitala.

Yes, I use the name everywhere, to the point I "border" on breaking the 'don't use your real name or any name that could be linked back to you'.
  21. Gods dammit so much. I want to join, but I can't commit that my signal won't randomly crap out in the middle of the run

If you're willing to give that a risk, I can bring my main (inv/ss tank, although I'm not as min-maxed as I could be). If you'd rather not risk the flake-out, I'll perfectly understand.

I am also jealous of that trip to Holiday World. It's a great park, provided that you can get over how intentionally cheesy it is. The main park should still be open then, but the water park area will most likely be closed (if you're with a group that doesn't enjoy riding the wooden coasters until they have mild whiplash).
  22. Yes! My demon MM is one step closer to having an alternate costume that looks like she's in an epic heavy metal video. Now all she needs is "/em headbang" (usable by the demons, of course).

Where's Desdemona? She'll be on board with this.

You realize how many IO's you have to make to get the crafting badge (and how many millions you have to spend to make them), right? If you can't give them away/put them in your SG's storage bin(s), you have to either delete them, which is a waste, or sell them in the AH one at a time.

Screw profit (although getting a token amount would be nice). If I've spent the time and money/tickets to make the damn things, I want at least for someone to be able to use them.
