Requesting Explantion of Rogue vs Freedom

Hi guys,

I'm a little confused as to how Rogue works in relation to freedom. I know it's a different storyline, but I thought there was the possibility of travelling between worlds. From what I've read in game, it seems you can go one way, from Rogue to Freedom at level 20. Is that true?

Are there comparable runs like DFB in rogue, and are the number of people in Rogue enough to warrant playing there for any reason aside from the storyline?

Cheers all

Currently if you start a toon in Praetoria you can only leave there once you hit level 20 and take the appropriate mission (from Steven Sheridan I think).

Any primal character can travel to praetoria via the portal in pocket D - which connects with studio 54. So essentially anyone who can get to pocket D can team up for praetorian missions.

While there are some zone events, there isn't anything like the DFB trial in Rogue/Praetoria, no. Also, Praetoria usually has a rather low player population on it's own (even compaired to the Rogue Isles and especially compaired to Paragon), though like ElectroKitty said, you can have players from Freedom/Primal cross over and join you for missions. You just can't go to their side until you hit level 20.

Edit - As for the storyline, I think it's definitely worth a play through or three, just so you can see all the different contacts, missions and story options available. Though, be warned - This is Praetoria. You'll have to deal with quite a few ambushes of NPCs in missions. And by quite a few, I mean hordes of them.

Being a Rogue is like being a pirate (may actually be a pirate) but does not limit oneself to the sea. A Rogue may be a ruffian, or a scoundrel, or a blatant thief. But they could also be a subtle con artist, even working amongst princes and empresses.

Freedom, what can we say about Freedom? True anarchy is unstable. It almost immediately devolves into structure. But being Free personally is priceless. Freedom, there are not enough words to describe it.

The Rogue part is in reference to the expansion called Going Rogue that allows you to start in Praetoria, the "alternate universe". So if you click that option you'll start there instead of in the main game.

The main storyline in Praetoria runs through level 20-ish. At that time you are asked to select between going to the Rouge Isles (red/villain side) or Paragon City (blue/hero side). You don't have to go but once you decide between blue or red and leave Praetoria you can never take a mission in the main city again. You can get the expanded stuff in First Ward and Night Ward, but once you touch the portal go on to the main part of the game, they will never give you even a random mission in the main city again.

And no, there's no DFB... the entire city is one big DFB (including actually fighting in their clean and spacious sewer system). You gain levels fast, really fast, due to all of the enemies you fight. Not quite as fast as DFB, but you'll have something more to do than just charge through a straight line beating up anything in your way.

However, there is the catch you pointed out. Sadly, hardly anyone plays there. I've played entire nights with no one in sight unless I have my regular playing partner online at the same time. Granted I'm on one of the smaller servers, but I'm guessing that even on the large servers there's not too many people who play there.

If you'd like to get a taste of what it's like, hop over on one of your current characters and wait for the protest zone event in Nova (it happens by the statue of Mother Mayhem once an hour or so). Kill several protesters or a single seers to pick which side to support (pro-government or anti-government respectively).

It's clean, it's beautiful and has unique, hard enemies. You get great experience and can walk away with some nice common salvage (I had a character stroll in to blue side with 15 luck charms on her). And if you are in a super group, you get 100,000 prestige (no, that's not a typo) each and every time a Praetorian joins. But you'll most likely be playing solo.

Praetoria and the Rogue Isles would really benefit from an iteration of the phasing technology that could put select NPC mission givers into those zones based on alignment. I will continue to dream about that....

Also, at level 20, Mistress Eva of the (Carnival of Light) in Talos [as well as Carter Mordeson in Cap for villians] contacts you about going to First Ward, which technically puts you back in Praetoria from 20-30ish.

Thanks guys for the explanations. That helps out quite a bit.

That's not strictly accurate. I tested this a while back when First Ward had been out for a while and this is what I found. (I did some additional testing later and found this.)

Any character on a VIP account, a character on a Premium Account that has purchased Going Rogue and applied the code to their account or any character on a Premium account that has purchased the Create a Praetorian option from the Paragon Market can travel to Praetoria via the portal in Pocket D.

Characters on a Premium account can get to First Ward through the portal in Talos Island that is behind the Arena. From there they can go through the Underground to get to Imperial City and go to Studio 55. From Studio 55 they CAN use the portal to get back to Pocket D. Even though they are in the zones they can't get missions in First Ward or other Praetorian zones unless they've purchased GR and applied the code or purchased the Create a Praetorian option from the Paragon Market.

I didn't get a chance to test it when the T.U.N.N.E.L. system was released since the account I test Premium stuff with was VIP at that time. I also didn't get a chance to test to see if I could get to Night Ward (especially the Midnighter's Mansion for the badge) for the same reasons.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
