I suggest asking Spine Stalker for help for your spines/sr scrapper. He is by far the best spines/SR i've seen (at least on union.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I'm surprised SRM hasn't already begun spamming this thread with uber tips on how to pwnz0r! -
-Firstly, even if you think your perception rocks, don't stand still. There's no point giving anything that opportunity to get next to you.
-Second, Quills is a great way to stop Stalkers, even if it misses, you see the "Miss" and gives you a chance to run away from a followup attack.
-Get a PvP build. Get Aid Self.
-You should have near perma-Elude if you spent that much (Purple recipes = Win)
-Siren's isn't your Zone. You lack most (if not all) of your set bonuses there, as well as Elude and epics.
-Stalkers will always be able to do huge damage. They are by no means overpowered, it simply requires a bit of tactics to get them. You will kill them pretty easily if you play it right.
I've seen Spines/SR played amazingly well in PvP, especially with expensive builds. Stick at it and you will get better- it's always like that. Don't give up yet.
/t me @chi if you want some practice matches -
PvP Poison is probably the best 1v1, as it means you can stick in BG mode without any real damage losses, take BG damage as well as shove out huge detoggling debuffs...
Zonal /FF is probably best with Robotics as they stay close to you for the inherent buff and deal ranged damage. -
These posts come up far too often on the forums... "Which is better out of..." "Which is the best...."
Best for what? Tanking? Damage? PvP? PvE? TFs? Farming? Fun Factor?
For taking damage, Stone- or more specifically Granite. For dealing damage, Invulnerability, although a Stone Tank can deal just as much while not in Granite- in fact, techically a bit more as it has Mudpots.
Generally, for tough TFs like MoSTF, Granite will do much better and survive more, focusing on purely the Tanking aspect, where as in casual missions maybe only an Invuln will be required, taking the damage while dishing it out.
Invuln lacks high resistance to most damage types except S/L, wheras Granite has relatively good protection against everything, especially S/L while in Granite.
It is easier to get Perma Dull Pain as Invuln, as you don't have so much of the -recharge from Granite. However, it is questionable whether Perma Earth's Embrace is even needed.
Invuln maybe classed better for PvP, especially solo... The Defence coupled with the -Tohit from Invincibility can be very useful. However, Granite can be good for a large-scale PvP and Arena, using Taunt to simply control the attention of enemies.
If you want to sit there, taunt, and laugh away, Granite is usually the best choice. If you want to get up and smash things to good effect, while still taking huge amounts of damage, go with Invuln. -
First of all...
Get Hurricane, then slot it with Dark Watcher's Despair!
Then,
Go pwn nubz in RV. -
Just a few points...
1) Get rid of Thunderclap, especially if you're not getting Dark Pit to support it.
2) Have 3 Recharge in Freezing Rain
3) Slot Dark Blast
4) Personally, I have Life Drain as 2/2/2
5) Don't put Defence Buff in Steamy Mist
6) Leadership will only make your endurance worse.
7) Try to get 3 Recharge in Conserve power
You can always take a look at my 2 guides on Storm/Dark, but they are pretty dated and were both written before the introduction of IOs. I am planning to make a new one shortly. -
Hurricane does the trick in a corner, IIRC Torrent has a much longer recharge and smaller range than Gale, not had it for a long period of time to test properly though.
-
The OP really has every fact wrong... Unbalanced in favour of heroes? What are you talking about? Pretty much everything in Villains can solo...
- Blasters needed that "load of love", as their inherent was pretty useless, much unlike Scourge.
- Why is it good that Dominators get "repaired" but bad that Blasters do?
- I really have no idea how you got the idea of a Corruptor just being a bad Defender from... and since when do Defenders do more than Corruptors?
My Corruptor is probably my favourite toon, and the most fun to play- as well as the most powerful!
I'm sure you're overreacting and looking at your Corruptor out of perspective, try playing them a bit more and a bit higher and I'm sure you'll see where you've gone wrong.

sadly I took thermal, and the only 2 powers helpful to me are the top ones melt etc
[/ QUOTE ]
Thermal is overpowered -
Cynic = Win!!!!!
Storm/Dark rocks, and if you make one you have the expert right here .
Again, amazing synergy with -Acc on controlled mobs or AVs/Bosses, as well as a huge variety of powers, and is pretty decent Defenderwise as far as soloing goes.
Do it!! -
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure why Ice Armours are so glorified on these forums. I've only seen Ice been used a few times, and seen the other sets used better more frequently.
Granite can be a good panic button if you see something coming that can take you, and if you have enough burst damage you can get rep by surviving on the non GA armours.
Fire has great survivability, a +end, Burn, Build Up, and a very overpowered heal. This definetely gives the most damage.
Invulnerability gets Dull Pain and huge S/L Resistance, and with Aid Self can be very tough.
Ice? Ice gets Hibernate. The Defence, in my opinion, is pretty much useless against "PvPers" that will easily have enough Accuracy and ToHit to counteract your defences.
Primaries, if you don't want Energy: Stone has high damage as well as stupid endurance... Battle Axe has high damage too, similar to that of Broadsword. Superstrength is okay from experience, although the lack of a serious mez is a downfall. -
Quick question... anyone know where I can host all the images and put them in a "slideshow" animated gif? I found one site, but it expires way too quickly for me to be bothered to rehost
-
Hmm, can't see why they want to do this for PvE...
PvP however, is another story. -

Could you give details?
I have a Bots/TA mastermind, who would actually do more damage than Bots/FF (due to two -res debuffs), who has assault and tactics.
I cant say I have come anywhere close to overcoming a AV's regen rate.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but /FF stacks much more defencively with Bots than TA, meaning you have a lot less survivability... ie, not enough time to put out everything you can. -
[ QUOTE ]
A fire/fire blaster is a killing machine when in a duo with an ice/ice tank.
[/ QUOTE ]
Because...?
Fire/Fire isn't that good, as /Fire specialises in PBAoE while Fire/ has a good cone that is vital to a multi-target build, causing the user to have to constantly change positions...
Ice/ Tanks are great for getting aggro, but to add to the threat control I would suggest /Fire for the extra AoEs. -
FF I'm not sure either- although if with Bots the defence could be through the roof and maybe time is just about on their side...
I believe TA was previously said to be very hard to do anyway. -
[ QUOTE ]
Can I be clear you are talking about AV's here.. not down graded Elite Bosses?
Because without a Shivan (which may well underpin the reports here) I find it hard to beleive that AV's can be solo'd without very specific circumstances.
Without -regen, I can see how any mastermind could mathematically do enough damage (solo) to an AV to overcome its regen rate?
[/ QUOTE ]
Poison has huge -regen. -
The best AoE build I've ever seen is Elec/Fire... By level 16, and DOless I saw someone that was able to chain only AOEs and not resorting to anything else... however it's not exactly ranged like you asked...
Assault Rifle has some nice ranged AoEs but lacks generally in damage. Although most of Archery is lethal (?), it may fit right into your critera. A good cone and AoE attack, and a ranged nuke that comes back very quickly in a large AoE... I don't think there's much secondary wise that is ranged AoE.. Energy would help you out with Boost Range, but imo its main asset is the blaps- which are single target.
Personally, for an ultimate AoE build, I would go Elec/Fire. For a ranged AoE build, I would say Fire/something... -

Ooo Phil you like me build?
[/ QUOTE ]
Looks pretty solid, personally I prefer Force mastery but thats because i cant play cold I would try and put some damage/ranges in your attacks though
[/ QUOTE ]
Personally I'd get Superjump without Superspeed and just have Boost Range... With 3 Recharges and Hasten it stacks for a few seconds -
Grats Rag, make a new Blaster to add the the rebirth of Terra's "HOOOOOO"....
-
I would prefer RV, but in general my opinion is the higher level the zone the better.
-
I think you will have to wait for more people to reach 50 for a varied and precise opinion.
-
I don't know why people think Force is underpowered... I haven't even got Force of Nature on my Blaster atm- in fact I swapped it to try Boost Range for those running Thermals!
Especially with /Energy, Force can be very useful... My tactic is to run around looking for targets without PFF on, meaning if I find myself in trouble I can PFF instantly and then Powerboost to make me pretty much un-hittable.
Never tried //Cold, although I have seen some people use it well... although I can't see how it can really work that well in 1v1. As Fire/Energy most things should die very quickly anyway. -
I don't think there's a single SG without "affiliations" to EVIL.
