hmm.. is this PvP only or PvE as well? And do you got the source where this info comes from?
If it is PvE as well I can imagine Ghost Widow becoming a whole lot harder in STF :O

Its on the latest release notes to the test server.

... and yes, its both PvP and PvE.
(good luck with Ghostwidow, thats all I can say).

I imagine if it does prove 'a nerf beyond' and ammendments are not made that MoSTF will become another revised Hamidon after many repeated failed attempts.

Probably the tank will have to bring a [censored] of BFs, or you'll have to take multiple empaths and sonics. actually multiple probably wouldn't be enough, don't tanks need an extra 8 or something stupid?

It will be an odd situation.

You can supply CM every 3 secs or so, I was showering the CM's onto the tank for the Ghostwidow showdown and it was still a pretty close-call.
Even with a suitcase full of 20 'Escapes' costing 80-100,000 inf a pop that fight would have to be over pretty darn quick and we all know that doesn't happen often with Ghostwidow, she is still going to hold the tank and kill him and the MoSTF will fail due to (what i suspect) is a misplaced nerf initiated by PvP concerns.

Sirens Call can actually turn into a level playing field now.

(Though i feel sorry for anyone attempting the MoSTF after the patch goes live, ouch! )

ya dont need an emp to do MoSTF :S
it might help but necessary.

just like to add i dont like the change . means i have to change my playstyle on emp, and thats too much work

aye, dont NEED emp, but it sure is gonna be alot harder. Seeing i tanked GW on my scrapper yesterday and just made sure soulstorm didnt hit in the first place .

Still, it adds a way bigger "luck" factor to it then though. Meaning a soulstorm hitting will still often be a "game over man.. game over!" moment.

For PvP however, i think its a nice change leveling the playing field a bit. Even though i agree with chim it'll force alot of ppl to adapt their playstyle which some might not like.

For what it's worth it looks like the Ghost Widow change might even be the objective rather than a side effect:

If it is an irresistable hold I think they should lower the damage, or at least lower the DoT element, so players aren't one shot by the power, (i.e. a decent empath could AP in time and save the poor recipient)

Before we get carried away by "Ghost Widow" concerns:

+ Yes, Soul Storm is a Mag 100 hold.
+ Castle wants it to be completely irresistable.
+ It looks as if all the ally mez protection powers are being made to not stack with themselves.


Now for the good news:

+ Ghost Widow has no large -defense debuffs or +tohit buffs. Soul Storm requires a tohit check.

+ Soul Storm's range is 80 Feet. Tanker Taunt's base range is 70 feet, and this is fully enhanceable.

+ "Unstoppable" and Sonic Buffs do not drop when you are held. Soul Storm is all Negative Energy damage.

+ Mez Protection is affected by Power Boost. With it, Defender CM/Clarity/Stimulant will be Mag 48.5. A Sonic and an Empath Defender, combined with Tanker toggles will be comfortably over Mag 100 Hold Protection.

By far the simplest way around this will be for tankers to slot, say, two level 50 Taunt/Rech/Range Set IOs into "taunt", get a Controller to keep Ghost Widow immobilised and then just taunt her from maximum range.

aye, as said empaths aint NEEDED.. it just was a "it works.." strategy, just as piling up with a load of heroes on hami pre-I9 worked. Other ways of beating her are indeed taunting from max range, however on top of that fortitude (preferrably powerboosted) and FF shields will help a fair bit preventing it hitting. Combined with somebody debuffing GW's tohit obviously. And yeah, sonic + unstoppable doesnt drop either. So there are still enough ways to get past it.
