FF/Dark has good synergy.
Storm/Dark looks great fun (but I couldn't get all the powers I wanted in and slotted in my build so I gave up on mine)
All defender primaries are good primaries, what are you lookingg to do with it? Of the two I mentioned one buffs and the other debuffs........... what is it you want out of your defender? Remember defenders can do anything, the other characters are the support

Rad/Dark is fun. Tentacles will keep enemies immobilized making it easier to debuff them.

Again, amazing synergy with -Acc on controlled mobs or AVs/Bosses, as well as a huge variety of powers, and is pretty decent Defenderwise as far as soloing goes.

Apathy Offender with Dark doesn't really work that well. Been there, done that. Just doesn't have the oomph. So that sort of an Emp/Dark isn't really the FotM.
Storm/Dark works (altough it could use some more KB powers) nicely and most importantly is fun.
FF/Dark might be a bit dull, even if it has great synergy.

You can keep groups perma knocked down with Gale + Torrent alone I believe (at least the numbers told me that when I tried to build one)

Hurricane does the trick in a corner, IIRC Torrent has a much longer recharge and smaller range than Gale, not had it for a long period of time to test properly though.
