There are enough other ways of healing (Destiny, or y'know, greens) that it's not really a problem as long as you pay attention.
EDIT: And there's a combat medic in the hospital. -
Quote:Actually, I wasn't counting either of those. Since commons and uncommons are common enough that there's no reason to convert to them.
2480 x Threads = 248 million Inf for the thread portion alone (provided you do the 10:10 + 1 million inf conversion over 248 days). Add another 150 million Inf for the needed 6 Uncommon -> Rare conversions. Add another 100 milllion Inf for the Rare -> Very Rare conversion. -
Quote:Actually, I suspect it's to allow some people to avoid the inevitable inf. spammers.I want to jump in with Claws here, for one specific reason - the justification for the mere existence of a VIP server. We don't need a new server. We have too many as it is. We're not getting a VIP server so that we'd have one more. The only reason the VIP server is even being considered is for the notion that some players would specifically want to NOT team with Free players. That's literally the only reason it exists.

Quote:For the record, this puts the total price tag of crafting a T4 incarnate power as 250 million. The very rare components are the only things I'm missing from being able to slot 10 Tier 4 powers across 3 characters. I have another 4 characters that only have the Tier 3 Alpha unlocked. Conversely I only have 8 characters I can use the ascension (regular, decor, or radiance) parts on. So yes, the price is too much.
I'll likely buy them as I spent a month on one character getting empyrean merits and also have an excess of astral merits, but that doesn't negate the fact that the fluff comes with an advancement penalty that is beyond what is needed. Seeing that the developer set price tag for the VR components is what it is, we know that the developers feel the price for the unlockables are worth around the same price as a PVPIO recipe. So about 2 billion Inf.
Feeding into this is the 25 million and 100 million inf price tag for the rare & very rare conversions (200 million inf + 16 uncommon components). If those numbers were lower, the costs on the costume parts were lower, the drop rate for VR components were better, or the Empyrean merit cost on a VR component was lower then it might not be so bad.
As it stands though, the costs impede character progression too much. -

Quote:Considering they're extending the praetorian level-range to 25... I'd say it's not impossible, although it'll take a couple of years before you reach 50.
-- The option to play as Praetorian all the way to 50. I'm still hoping this is coming. (here's hoping this doesn't become another goldside morality debate) -

The reasoning for throwing this stuff in is very simple:
"Okay, so we have these rewards for building powers that you get by running the trials, but what about people who aren't interested in that? Or already have their powers?"
"We have these auras and emotes we've been doing on our spare time, why not throw them in?"
"Sure, let's do that. And while you're at it make a few emblems and emotes too."
So now people who like running trials can get something other than powers for doing so. Score. -
Quote:Actually, both those weapons predate the development of plate-armor. (Crossbows first appears in asia in 4th century B.C. and a precursor was known in ancient Greece, we don't get real plate-armour until the 13th and 14th centuries)
Plate armour was bloody tough, it took something hitting it with a lot of force to actually penetrate it (hence the invention of the Crossdow and the British Longbow), hence most weapons were designed around not cutting through the armour but CRUSHING THE PERSON INSIDE IT! Which is actually kind of more horrorific when you think about it.
The longbow likewise is much older, the oldest variants being found in Scandinavia and dates back to the viking age.
In fact, it seems like while long and crossbows would pierce mail, they'd have trouble with plate (which was ludicrously expensive anyways and so not used very much)
Which is not to say you couldn't kill a man in plate with a longbow: Shoot the horse and chances are he'll break his neck when he falls off. -
Quote:It's not going to be sword-based, they specifically said that. There are sword models, but there'll be all sorts of blunt instruments and other stuff too.Notably, at least one version of Robin. It doesn't get more superhero-y than that, for me anyway.
Depending on how its animated, I could still see staves working. But it's honestly a bit disappointing to see another sword-based weapon set. I thought we had pretty much nailed those down by now.
Basically, if you can hit someone with it, this is it. -

If you drop down to Preem and not play for a while you get "Preem" added to your name?
So "Dark Angel" becomes "Dark Angel Preem". -

^ My impression was that Mercy would get some kind of graphic overhaul, but it wouldn't be as extensive and most importantly, it wasn't done yet.

Quote:Another possibility is that premium/free has to pay for it directly, while VIP's gets to use their monthly stiped *shrugs*The Power Set being cited as being "in the store" could just be for Premiums/Free... Where as VIP could get them automatically (just like MMs and Controllers).
It could also be a mistake, but that probably would have been corrected with an official statement by now.
Another thing...
If the points make things free for VIPs, how would they make money off of VIPs in order to increase revenue? Just from some players buying things because they want it NAO instead of gradually collecting it all through points?
Impulse purchases?
I understand that they hope to get more funds in from Free/Premium players... And that, theoretically, the Booster Pack expenses we've had the option to buy will be achieved through the store by providing more items than we can afford with just in-game points...
But to think that they'll be able to kick out a noticeable amount of content greater than before, due to incoming revenue, I think that is only possible if VIPs are paying for it (other than the simple increase through Free Players becoming VIPs = more subscriptions... but we'll see if that happens. We could end up with less paid subscribers... *shrugs*).
My impression is that the monthly stipend is basically supposed to cover us buying most (if not all) of the stuff they release, so the end-result ends up being the same (with maybe some savings from having a VIP account) -
As I understand it:
Without paying (VIP status) you don't have access to incarnate stuff. At all. Just like it is now. You might be able to purchase it piecemal via the store, but you won't get it for free. It's possible that if you bought Going Rogue you'll start with some of the incarnate stuff unlcoked, but I doubt it.
If you want incarnates, you pay.
It's not as if you "lose access" to going Rogue: You'd lose access to the entire game, it's just that now you get to play ANYWAY. -

Quote:The Producer's letter says we're getting a Galaxy City tutorial, a revampled Atlas Park and also revamped low-level missions for Mercy and Atlas.I inferred that this wasn't Galaxy City because none of the buildings in any of those screenshots are actually IN Galaxy City and I didn't think the destruction of a zone could deposit new buildings in it. If we ARE getting a revamp of existing zones, though, that could be interesting. Something tells me we aren't, and this is just for that one zone.
Also, I apologise for not looking at the file name of an inline image.
EDIT:
Quote:. An all-new tutorial will introduce new players to Paragon City and the Rogue Isles like never before, and lets heroes and villains choose their archetype independently of their alignment. Atlas Park gets a tremendous visual makeover, and both Atlas Park and Mercy Island have all new mission content to give great reasons to create a character for veteran and new players alike. In addition, a new low level Sewers Trial for both heroes and villains lets you team up with other starting characters to take the fight below street level. -

As far as, we're probably not going to face Cole until we've defeated all his praetors, that essentially leaves Mother Mayhem and Chimera (assuming Neuron doesen't get his own trial, since he's in Tin Mage Mk II)
So AT LEASt two more trials before Cole, after the ones we know are coming.
And that's disregarding the praetorians who aren't praetors: Marchand, Black Swan, Diabolique, Infernal, etc.
I think we're looking at a minimum of two more trials after the ones we now know off (and probably three, a magic-focused one with Diabolique/Infernal in it) before we get to fight the Emperor. -
