Quote:Badges are all about 'trying it all', even things you don't like to do, whether it be PvP or teaming. So, it is unlikely that the argument to not tie badges to events will get no traction. No thanks - I have no interest in creating a new character to get a badge a few months early. For what it is worth, please do not tie badges to servers ever again. Find a better carrot....
The problem was the small-window, one-time, likely-to-miss nature of this badge. -
Quote:I was disappointed when I read that it would be only happening for 3 hours on my server. What gives? Are these being manually run by developers and GMs?Expect them to throw in *A LOT* of AVs and Giant Monsters, especially, the WarWalkers of the Incarnate TFs.Quote:Chances are, YES.
The invasions are for a limited time because likely a community rep is going to be manually sitting there, logged in to the server, spawning in waves like how they spawn in giant monsters to the Pocket D during Dev get-togethers.
They're not a programmed event as such like the Rikti invasions or the Banner events or Zombies.
They did the same thing last year with Longbow and Arachnos "invasions" to zones at a specific time. Expect them to throw some AVs in for the heck of it.
But it is a dev-run event. Not a programmed zone invasion like Rikti or Zombies. -
Quote:Stress test are all well and good, but what will this do to people playing on less than optimal computers who want to participate? Imagine trial lag x100.My guess for why a stress test is this: I've been seeing that Freedom is not 'in the red' as often as Virtue anymore, which makes me think they added more computer power to Freedom. And now they want to see what the breaking point is. That tells them what to set the server queue at. It may also give them info about how to handle a one-server environment that was talked about a really long time ago (but there is *no* evidence that a one-server system is even still be considered).Quote:Server merges? that is what popped into my mind when I seen the official reason for it just being freedum.
But we did hear from Dev chat that cross-server teaming is on the to-do list. This may mean it's still over a year away, but at least they have resources allocated to attempting it (and the attempt may fail). And this stress test may be part of the data needed for that, too.
Will this bring some player's computers to their knees? Oh, yes. But for some, a Mothership Raid already does that. That is completely irrelevant. The Server is being tested, not players' computers.
Of course, that some players who attempt to experience this won't be able to is another obvious reason that using a badge as enticement was a Really Big Bad Idea. "I couldn't get on! I got on but rubberbanded and couldn't get to the event" ... and so on. A great way to give Customer Support more work to do: "/petition "I was at the event and couldn't get on to get the badge!"" -
Quote:That annoys me to no end: The Trial can be done with less than a full complement. Is it really worth, over the course of a hundred trials to wait around literally for hours and hours and hours just to ensure that you don't get that one in a hundred jerk who gets tagged onto your league who clicks the towers when you told everyone not to? Just one-star the jerk and kick them if they wind up in your league again.I really like all the new stuff, BUT, it's getting boring. I don't like waiting 30 min to start a new trial while trying to get 20 people to form them.
The iTrials can be completed with the minimum number of players -- it scales. Let's all agree to stop waiting 20 minutes for one more person. -
Quote:Yeah, very poorly thought out.So, it can go one of two ways:
1) The server survives the stress test; everyone participating gets the badge.
2) The server fails the stress test; many players will either get logged out, mapservered to oblivion or the server crashes. Then MANY won't get the badge regardless of them putting in the time to show up.
Well, what happens if the server fails? How are they going to award the badge now?
I also added to the thread removed how having a badge works against what they want to do: The badgers all agree that as soon as they get their badge, they log out to let others on (and for their alts). Thus, making the event a no-show and the stress test less stressed.
They were incentivizing people *not* sticking around!
It seems they got the message. -
How about if you participate, it unlocks the ;facepalm emote?

Spider-Man *can't* be a skateboarder because he's not supposed to be a villain!

Quote:No, but that's not what's being posited. Is expecting something to work correctly a sense of entitlement?
What's being posited is: "I expect every pay-for power to work in all instances, game mechanics and balance be damned."
*That* is pure entitlement.
All that is besides the other point that some of those powers are supposed to be working but are not as a result of a bug, not because of any sort of cheating by the Devs. -
It will happen eventually.
But not for now. -
If it's your "last hope" then, by definition and process of elimination, it is also your "best hope."
That is all. -
Quote:You mean something that very clearly crosses the line like this?...I'm sorry if my comment may have lead you or anyone else to that conclusion. That was not my intent. I was just suggesting a change of focus to prevent the chance of accidentally crossing a line the mods might choose to act on.
Quote:The sad truth of the matter is that usually it's people that believe in god who can't accept/respect other peoples faith in religions that aren't their own.
And after taking your swipe, you say:
Riiiight. You can make your comment, but others shouldn't.Quote:Anyway let's get off this topic before the mods feel the need to step in. -
Quote:Those tactics normally work if the map/door is randomized among a set of possible map/door. Most Praetorian missions are not like that. The Devs specifically picked a specific map/door for the mission, which means, no chance for a different map for that mission. Is there any way I can force my current mission to somehow restart and use a different, non-bugged mission? Logging out and back in does not work. It just resets the mission, but it still uses the same instance. Abandoning the mission also does not work - the new mission starts in the same door and uses the same instance. I'm currently trying to see if abandoning the mission, logging off, shutting down the game and coming back in half an hour will fix it. But I don't think it will.
This was all part of their stated goal that doors would 'make sense'. So, e.g., if you had a mission in the Yin Corp building, you would always go to the Yin Corp building. -
Except, of course, that they shut it off. And that an attempt to make it work with a new base designer didn't work. And that it's not on the development to-do list for now, thus, any expectation that it should work is based on not really listening to what the devs have said, and thus chiding them for saying nothing is facepalm worthy all its own.

1. Did you increase the purchase limit allowance to it's maximum?
https://help.ncsoft.com/app/answers/...rchase%20limit
2. Or, are you hitting the serial code purchase limit which you can't get around with NCSoft, but, you can get around by purchasing elsewhere?

3. I once elevated a ticket four levels in order to complain about this. -
Just push the shader to medium to get rid of the glare.
However, nothing can be done about the fps hit except the offending items causing it getting fixed or you getting a beefier machine.
A fix is on the way.
In the meantime, my experimentation showed that the one thing that helped the most was having geometry buffers enabled. -
-
The 'old lag' was for people on narrow bandwidths where all the transmissions of everyone's buff status was slowing down their connection, but, not creating server side lag for everyone else.
They tried to fix that by implementing a show-buff filter, just like the one already in place for teammates. But they goofed in unintentionally giving the server tons more work to do causing server-side lag for everyone. And the more people on the league and the more league-wide buffs used, the worse the lag.
That bad fix has been reverted. A new fix is in the works. -

Quote:OK, they advertised limitations for that power. But how about the GvE Pack. I can use the VIP TPer whenever I want, right? No cooldown? Not interruptible? Are there any official warnings for that pack that would make me think twice that this cool power isn't always available at all times?Secondary Mutation Power:
Secondary Mutation is available every 20 minutes and is not affected by recharge buffs.
and
Upon reading the fortune, a Tarot-card effect emanates from the caster onto the second character.
The resulting fortune will have either a positive or negative effect on that character for the next 20 minutes
Sorry Zombie Man,you are usually correct in your replies. However, this time you are not.If the power is rechargeable,it will so state that in its description. As in the above Mutant and Magic Pack. -
Actually, things sped up and were almost back to normal starting last night, not this morning.
And today, I've had no unusual slow downs at all. -
Apparently that is a WAI 'feature' that when you claim something via email and you don't have 'space' for it, it goes into limbo waiting for you to clear the space, and sometimes, having to claim something else to wake it up to come back to you.
All my air quotes are to indicate that a better feature would be an error message telling you that you can't claim it until you free up space.
