I won't pay 3B....but thats just cause I have 3 toons who are all going to crank one of these out in the next week or so.
Well, that's why you can't flip them anymore! I'll bid 500mm for one of yours. Level 10 preferably.

One thing that worked for me in a different game was to change a subtle digit that looks like another (swap a 7 for a 1, swap an 8 for a 0) so if your ePvP opponent isn't paying attention, they think they still have the highest outstanding bid.

Ex: bid 3,007,100 and wait for tears.

As to digging ditches? <shrug> I'm converting common salvage to a form that people want but are not necessarily willing to do themselves. I'm providing a service.

As far as regards Field Crafter and the workbench, the workbench is soooo worth it, but the process of getting the crafting badges is also soooo tedious. The only time I've made a loss on getting the table (three times so far) is when I get impatient; buy salvage, craft and delete the resulting IO's since I just want the damn badge out of the way.
Absolutely. My "ditch-digging" comment was not meant to imply that crafting IOs is anything but a noble profession! I just meant that it is very labor and resource intensive.

Example: I found a decent common IO spot where I each time I log I can make about 300k-400k profit per IO. I think that is a pretty good return! But that eats up 10 slots for 3-4mm profit per log-in. So, I usually only do it at the end of a session if I happen to have slots free. It's a nice bonus, but it's very resource intensive.
  4. It really does feel like the prices on these have been coming down, but I don't track them very closely. It takes a long time, but we are now seeing people selling AM generated PvP (custom level, even!) for 2bn. I don't have the patience to roll my own, but then again, I don't have a character I need to twink badly enough to spend a couple of bn inf on them.
  5. I'll be happy to lend you the 30mm posting fee, interest-free, for a week or two, if you want to sell it in the marketplace. If it is selling for 700mm, then you should have no trouble selling it at 600mm. You might even get more!
  6. Yomo_Kimyata

    Why?

Also to OP, keep in mind that there are a TON of people pursuing the crafting accolades. Thanks a lot of supply for common IOs and not a ton of demand, particularly for the less popular types (Intangibility anyone?) and levels (level 20-25 in particular is a spot where the improvement over 15s doesn't justify upgrading and SOs are right around the corner).
  7. Yomo_Kimyata

    Why?

This is also part of the game theory nature of selling in the marketplace. If there are a lot of other sellers in the market, you really don't know at what price they are offering. So people offer at low levels hoping that bidders see the pricing history and place their bids at the recent prices.

Then there is also the "Sell it NAO" crowd who craft something and throw it on the market at 1 (or 5 or some other relatively low number) just because they want to insta-sell. I love picking those people off!
  8. Sweet, you are the first example I've seen of doing this. Power to you!
  9. Hmm, does this meant prices are coming down on these? I haven't been following.

  11. Completely off topic, but right now Outlook on my reclaimed computer is telling me:
"Receiving 93 of 2298". I might take a little longer coming back than I thought.

If not, I migrated my stalker Mope over from red side, he can do a ton of damage fast.
I mentioned this to Fulmens in a PM because I hesitated to bring it up on this forum, but:

Aren't PvP Ios a great way to burn influence? Assuming you get a good one of course. Sell if for 1bn+ (ideally ON the market to take out the 10% vig) then burn it into prestige?

I've never liked pvp, and pvp farming seems kind of dirty, even for me. But when I get back in the game, maybe this is worth considering?

I think some of the healing badges will take some work. But since I have a thermal troller, I'm happy to work on that 5mm badge 15 or 20 hp at a time...

We have so much prestige even at this point I would be extremely surprised if anyone could get rid of it all.

We have the most expensive base.

We have all of the most expensive items.

We have some of the most expensive rooms.

The highest "cost" functional item we can get now I believe is a IO storage table for 90k.

Last time I checked, we still had... 25 million prestige?

Even if we were allowed to drop that many tables (we're not) we'd need to buy 278 of them... just to get back to 0. Add another bil to the fire, and we now have another 2 mil to spend.
If only we could exchange prestige for influence...
  16. I was thinking (surprise!) about the cap and I would posit that having a cap helps to keep the ebil marketers in check.

I mean, if the cap were 10 quadrillion, wouldn't the "rich" try to get still richer, at the ultimate cost of the poor casual player? With the hard cap and the logistical limitations of storing value in excess of the cap, I would argue that this is a disincentive for amassing wealth just for the sake of amassing wealth.

Now, when we find out that 2bn is the cap for prestige as well, boy I'm gonna be angry!
  17. I've gotten Field Crafter on two toons, but both of them use the benefits for the crafting table more than anything else. Which saves, um, thirty seconds from going to base and crafting. But those are THE BEST DAMN THIRTY SECONDS EVER!

If you could sell crafted IOs in blocks of 10, then I'd probably look to craft more common IOs for a living. But mostly the lack of slots prohibit it.

I figure that if any of my characters need common IOs, I can almost always bid garbage prices on crafted IOs and end up with a block of 10 within a day or two. People always dump them. Then I slot what I need and offer the rest at whatever price I bought them for and I usually sell them for about 10x more.

I think you can make a living out of crafting common IOs, but it feels a little like digging ditches to me.

I'm looking forward to getting back to the 88s tomorrow (my graphics chip on my motherboard on my laptop is fried, so my big boy computers are getting shipped up tomorrow!)
  18. (Buys A merits from SwellGuy, sells them to BillZBubba)

What?! I still make a little money.

Especially if it's stacks of salvage being simultaneously Bought AND Sold, but I don't believe it's limited to salvage, it's just much more noticeable.

Say you buy 5 stacks of 10 widgets each, and re-list them for sale... then try to go back and place a bids to buy another 5 stacks of widgets - at some point your sales and buy orders will get tied up & tend to inexplicably stand still for awhile, they'll eventually start moving again.

There's abit more to it, and while it doesn't make sense on the face of it (ie. it "shouldn't be doing that"), But its worked this way for a couple years. Don't believe me? Spend an hour or two flipping & flopping widgets - and you'll probably see it happen if you pay close enough attention.
I'm intrigued and looking to learn. Please explain further!

That's an interesting observation, Fulmens, and I appreciate it. I agree that lvl 50 is getting a little full, but I look at this as whether or not buyers of IOs plan to be consumers or suppliers. I would think that people looking to supply the lvl 35 market would look to buying IOs in the lvl 38 area, for example. But I never have much luck selling IOs at that level.

That said, lvl 38 is usually a spot that we all move past pretty quickly.

I actually tend to get the 50s just so I get the extra recipe slots. That red text really bugs me when I fill up after one mission, and I'm not going to the store halfway through!

Then I usually delete the enhancements unless I know I can use them somewhere. 45s don't sell enough (most people at 42 seem to feel that they can make it 5 levels pretty quick, and wait til then to slot 50s, in my experience). And I really don't have the patience to list 10 individual 50s of an enhancement. So yeah, I burn a lot of inf that way too...
  22. There's a lot of nice QoL issues resolved in I-19. My only concern is that it continues to make the game easier and easier. That's not really a problem (heck, you can turn on +4/x8 early enough), but since I had to walk twenty miles to play CoH back in the day, in the snow, uphill, both ways, these new whippersnappers won't know how much harder it used to be

I get a kick out of the fact that rather than run from the upper corner of the TI map to Citadel (less than a minute), I'll zone to Ouro, then zone to TI. Can an insta-teleport power to any zone in the universe be far off?

    Market Mystery

I've been having trouble with this as well and can't find a consistent pattern to it. I only see this with sell orders, never with bid orders. What seems to be happening is that your stacked (I never have this trouble with single items) offer is registered, you are charged your listing fee, and it is posted at (000) per item. Then, sometimes those items sell, and sometimes they do not.

At first I thought it was lag to the market server, but reposts don't work that often (I get same result). Some of my working theories as to why this happens, all of which are probably wrong:

-If there are no outstanding bids on an item
-If there are no outstanding bids other than yours on an item
-If any outstanding bids are less than your offer price
    - You are a profiteer and the market hates you.

None of these seem to apply to your wife's case, so I'm going to have to go to the basement and work on a few more conspiracy theories. If anyone else has noticed a pattern here, pipe up!

I was referring more towards the LOTG 7.5% crowd. I only lowball the standard IOs when I need to slot them.

I won't pay more than 100k for a standard IO, but I love buying a crafted purple for 90% under cost. It's a sickness, I know.

On the unintentional humor scale, where a 1 is:

You typed "Your" when you meant "You're"

    and a 10 is:

"I'm going to kill two people in cold blood, then spend the rest of my life trying to find the real killers, mostly on the golf course and in Las Vegas"
