  1. Per Beastyle, who was on the Beta server a little while ago - Beast Mastery will not be in the release of I22, but will come out a bit later, I am assuming because it's still early stages of development.

What is this? I was on Facebook using a nearly public access (Hotel WiFi) in another state just yesterday. I have never heard of this happening there.

I have heard of something similar to this happening in another MMO with a humongous playerbase that was trying to get their players to switch to an authenitcator, but never on FB.

And I guess one response to most of the "fixes" I see here in this thread would be "SCR applies". We don't know if adding all these fancy-schmancy routines to block some the RMTers would or would not break stuff for legitimate players.

The fix that would allow someone to sell NCSoft's intellectual property is just daft. It doesn't match my (admittedly limited) understanding of how defending one's intellectual property rights works under US laws. I would like to see the legal resoning supported by reference to common law, case law and regulation that supports that position (but then, I have a legal education, and I'm crazy that way.)
  3. What do I hate about the iTrials - they intimidate me (the player) especially all the posts I see in this thread about how one player can "ruin" it for all the others.

Gives me performance anxiety. I haven't done more than a couple of BAFs with people I trusted not to get too upset if I messed up.

And this thread just reinforces that fear of screwing up a trial for a couple of dozen others.

    This.

I have a few characters with Hasten, mostly those who happen to have a power pick at a level where I can't decide what else to take.
  5. What Forbin said...

However, there are people here on the forums (especially the Base Constructionforum) who will gladly make up a throwaway character you can invite to your SG, who will then add your alts.

I would be happy to do this for you if you want to set it up for this evening.

Anyhow, I would definitely look at the case before making a snap assumption, but once it did link back, they settled.

And they were back weeks later under a new name.

Now imagine this for every hydra head that pops up.
And how much cash they'd burn through in legal fees. Cash that can be going towards product development.

It is not economically feasible to go after gold sellers.
Kinda like the situation where someone tries to hold back the sea by building a wall at the shore - only the waves just go around the ends of the wall anyway.

Regarding international law - yeah, that's really more of an agreement between nations that there are certain rules that "everyone" will follow, provided, of course, that everyone signs on. And the Chinese pretty much don't sign on, so anyone trying to "enforce" international contract or intellectual property "law" is hosed when dealing with them.
  7. Bringing Tina Beretta, lvl 30 FF/DP Defender
  8. I will bring somebody.

I don't think Incarnate Shadow has quite reached 25 yet, not sure if she will make it there in time. And I ran AdAstra through this TF on Saturday, so I probably won't bring her either....

I will post later if I actually make a decision before about 9:55 p.m.

But currently we have "Patrol XP" awarded while we are logged out. Giving any other "XP Boost" seems superfluous given that.

Or I had an idea for temp powers every 10 levels. At level 1 you have a ranged attack. At level 10 the choice between a melee or ranged attack. Level 20, a small debuff. Level 30, a small self buff, level 40 single target long recast teleport or self teleport (I'm thinking to things like Wentworths or the zone entrances in a zone), level 50, a notice of the well freebie for VIPs (help with some of the iTrial problems), and a temp power. Something to show that the city has rewarded you or you've taken something powerful for yourself.
Why would my level 10 Blaster need another ranged attack just for reaching level 10? And we already have a small ranged attack given as the Freebie Origin power (thhrowing knives, apprentice charm, etc.)

And the level 40 self teleport also somewhat duplicates either a power already given for logging out in an auction house or duplicates a teleport power purchaseable at the Store (Mission Teleporter).

For level 50 - I know it seems like sacrilege - but 2 of my 5 level 50 characters haven't done anything to get a Notice of the Well and probably never will, so your proposal for that level won't work out either.

Basically, I think my point is that coming up with suitable rewards that don't already duplicate something already granted elsewhere.

The City (and the Isles) already give you something to show their appreciation - a Badge! Yeah that and a couple dollars get you a cup of coffee, but it does show appreciation.
  10. Nice idea, but please change the fact that it attaches an effect to a specific origin to making various effects just generally available.

For example, some of my Tech Origin heroes don't possess anything that would "spark" but the fading color effect would work quite nicely.

As a general rule, I don't like to see anything to a specific origin because different people have different concepts of what fits within any particular origin.
  11. Ad Astra

    New player

    Join the global channels -

    Infinity Hamidon
Infinity Badges (or is Infinity Badges 2.0 more active?)
    AE_Anonymous

People use those to make teams of all levels, but unfortunately, you will discover that a certain percentage of players are concentrating on level 50 Incarnate content - that's the same on all servers BTW.

But there are still some of us out there making new lower level alts and playing that content, even some of the players who are also enthusiastically running the iTrials who need to take a break.

Infinity is my server for heroes, so I probably won't be seeing you until you get high enough to play some of the co-op content....

Welcome to the City and the Isles!
  12. I had a couple of characters who were created since last year that thematically "needed" Cold Warrior, so I gathered presents until I got that badge for them.

I also gathered enough candy canes to pick up a couple of Winter's Gift Slow Resistence recipes (at lower levels) to fund a couple of lowbie characters.
  13. Yay! I can make this one!

Bringing Ad Astra, Dark/Ice Blaster, lvl 29.

I could probably dissect Dur's novel theory about how copyright laws work, but that's too much like work for a holiday.
  15. The most prevalent theory on why the Superleader (Red Star) designation was added to SG ranks (back at the time it was added, I13, IIRC) was to give CS an "out" for keeping out of SG squabbles. It seems very likely that they will not get involved in this situation.

Unfortunately, there is a system in place for preventing folks from taking over SGs:

    1. Set the Leader demotion to the max (45 days).

    2. Make sure that the Superleader logs on during that time.

    3. If it looks like the Superleader will be gone longer than that amount of time, promote a trusted friend/SG member to Superleader before the leave of absence.

    4. Don't invite people you aren't sure that you can trust into the SG or kick them before taking the leave of absence.

It sux for your friend that his SG wasn't protected, but the steps above would have prevented the problem.

This may be correct, but a min/maxer may just be someone who can read min/max builds posted on the forums, rather than someone who has worked it out for himself/herself. At this point in the game, there's a lot of the number-crunching done already for folks to copy....

    Hi, Mental Maden!

OK, now that the AA joke is done - see my signature. I have about 50-60 characters spread across 5 servers, although recently, I have mainly been playing the 15 or 16 I have on Infinity more than the rest. When I hear from one of my global friends or even when I get an invite from a stranger to join a TF, my first response is "What does the team need?" because I have no problem switching from whatever character I am currently playing to something else if the team needs buffs or control or moarDPS.

And I know that compared to some people around here, 50-60 characters makes me a rank amateur!

I have to agree that this is the worst part of the arc - run to Perez Park (closest place to find gobs of Lost) and zap one wait while his former buddies beat up on him for a bit, zap the next, reinse/repeat. UGH!

The run all over Atlas Park isn't much fun either, but at least the Vanguard depot is close to City Hall.
  19. But to be extra sure, I would contact support or one of the Community folks.
  20. Well, after reading through this thread, I guess I now realize that I have totally missed the boat for Incarnates.

When Incarnate content first dropped, I had 4 level 50 characters. I took the two Blasters through to get their Alphas unlocked, and have done a few TFs & MS Raids to get stuff to craft boosts for them, but nothing higher than the second level (whatever that is called). My other level 50s don't even have their Alphas unlocked.

The overwhelming tone of some of the posters in this thread is that because I have not lived and breathed Incarnate raiding for the past few months, for me to try to start it now would be hurting THEIR gameplay in some way and just leeching on my part and rude and insensitive and just plain "wrong".

Thanks, guys, for letting me know that I'm not welcome!

p.s. - Yes, I know that DA revisions will make Incarnate content for soloers and those who prefer small teams.....
  21. See signature below

Actually, I do have one of eact AT, even a PB & a WS (a current project, so she is getting some love right now).

I only have 5 level 50s, and one is a Scrapper - but 3 of the other 4 are 2 Blasters and a Dark Defender (made before blasters got DarkBlast). The fifth one is a Fire/Rad Controller.

I would estimate that the proportion of my characters that Blast to those that are almost completely Melee is about 80% blasting. And I really have to concentrate to switch to a melee mindset.

SG membership has nothing to do with getting on a Task Force (heroside) or Strike Force (villainside). You can join a team without being in a SG.

Most teams form by broadcasting either through global channels set up by players - different ones for each server - or by broadcasting in Help (even though that isn' meant to be the purpose of the Help channel.)

What server are you on? For example, on Infinity, some decent teaming channels are Infinity Badges, Infinity Hamidon and AE_Anonymous.

But since you are a Rogue, you can join a TF or a SF because your character can actually got from the Rogue Isles to Paragon City by going through Pocket D.

The reason your Rogue can't join a heroside SG is because you haven't turned towards hero far enough yet.

Has anyone pointed you to Paragonwiki.com yet? That can be a great place to find out what changed while you were gone and maybe even some old stuff you had not encountered when you last played.
