Heh, you had footstomp for 3 whole levels and got bored with it?
-
Quote:It's not a problem for my level 50 bots/traps with softcapped pets, but that's arguably the most survivable MM build. How are you people having problems with your bots?
I have an occasional protector bot or drone run into melee range, but it's nothing a goto command can't fix.
I imagine it's quite frustrating for lowbies, and possibly for some secondaries. -
Firstly, relax....
There's so much going on, and so much lag during a ship raid that no-one is really sure if they are effective themselves, much less watching you to criticize your play.
I don't tend to bring pets to the pylons, the extra damage just isn't needed. Your secondary might come in handy though.
Once on the ship you actually have an advantage over everyone else, your pets attack no matter how bad the lag gets. Let them do their thing, resummon when necessary and concentrate on your secondary, especially the aoe buffs/debuffs/heals. -
Quote:Even after the nerf my assbot burn patches nicely roast x8 mobs. Admittedly it is DoT but your secondary should help you keep everyone nicely inside the flames. If you slot it like you would actually slot an attack, Pulse Rifle Burst. Unless you're figuring the burn patch for multiple enemies all stuck in it, all delivered at once (none of which actually happen).
I admit my bots/ff slotted PRB and used it against runners, partially out of boredom. I don't remember 1-shotting healthy minions or anything, I do recall it being an end hog. Force bolt won me a LOT more fights via mitigation then PRB did with damage. -
Quote:So which MM attack does more damage then the assault bot burn patches, I guess I should respec. This is factually inaccurate. The actual attacks of the Mastermind themselves will be the single most damaging attacks available to the set; they only reason people can get by without them is because a) they're not playing the "tankermind"* style and b) there are six henchmen to pick up the slack.

Nicely done, but probably too subtle to penetrate those who need the lesson.
-
I've seen guesstimates of inf/merit and inf/alignment merit, does anyone have a guess for inf/AE ticket?
-
Caltrops takes the (relatively) cheap ragnarok knockdown proc. I find it helps keeps everything inside the burn patches, and of course it's hilarious.
disclaimer - my high-level trapper is a bots mastermind, and my pets probably out-DPS a defender. I find poison gas trap + acid mortar + caltrops + selective web 'nade will keep everything in place "long enough".
I take it you mostly solo?
You could always go to the dark side and roll a corr or a mastermind, nobody gets far once the rain powers start to scourge. -
Quote:First of all, if you've got recipes or IOs in character inventory, SG etc check how much they're worth now, you might have a nest egg waiting to be liquidated.Hey folks. I have been off COH for about 18 months. I had played up to 4 1/2 years before that..
Anyway, I remember back in the old days I could get items and IOls for decent price.
Now though, it seems like everything is skyrocket high.
Second, run a few teams and sell your drops, it's a seller's world now.
I'm very happy with the alignment merits reward per time invested. My lowbies have been earning numi's etc. all by themselves, no sugar-daddying required. -
I like the utility of web 'nade, it keeps runners inside the DoT AoEs.
It also takes one of the cheapest purple sets. -
The new pet AI has made my zombie MM a lot more fun to play, I'll probably take him to 50 now.
I no longer have to micromanage my tier 2 pets, they now charge in and use those nice melee attacks. The zombies, lich and fluffy seem about as effective as they used to be so it's a big win for that toon.
My beloved lvl50 bots/traps has gone from "steamroller" to "pretty decent". There's a ton of defence and mitigation in a mature bots/traps, I can still keep my suddenly kamikaze protector bots alive even though the fights last much longer because of the assault bot "changes". I'd hate to be levelling a new bots MM today though. -
Quote:Have you ever tried to corner a market in CoH?So, it has become abundantly clear why some items cost 2 Billion per enhancer. It is a trick outlawed on Wall Street. It is called cornering the market. Take corn for instance. Buy up all the corn, or corn futures, that will arrive on Wall Street for the year. Then set your own price as to the selling price corn we be for that year. THis is especially easy to do in the game with items that are limited drops. (like PvP I/Os, purps, etc.)
So, I now know exactly how to approach the Devs to complain about who exactly is ruining play for their consumers, and exactly how they are doing it. Wish me luck.
Try it sometime, pick a unpopular type of yellow salvage and see how far you get and how long you can keep it cornered.
And yeah, IHBT, sorry. -
I made a 3-page printable checklist of all the badges/recipes/ingredients etc, with little checkboxes to tick as you craft.

Feedback or suggestions appreciated. -
Well I had a good time, anyone else?
No pulling, no regrouping, no finesse... just charge in and SMASH! -
Quote:Disclaimer: I haven't played all the corr secondariesI've played dark a few times, and I know how good it is. I've never played traps, but it seems like it has potential, especially since with twin force field generators and twinned maneuvers, we would be close to the softcap by level 22. We'd kind of like to both play the same powerset, but would be willing to give up on that idea if using 2 different sets would be better for performance reasons.
I think you'd hit diminishing returns with 2 /darks, one of you can floor the mobs ability to hit you, so the other /dark is a bit redundant.
As for /traps, the best trick is that one of you can floor -regen, which leaves the other /traps a bit redundant.
I'd say 1 /traps and 1 /dark is a recipe for awesome.
ffg + 2x maneuvers + shadow fall gives respectable defence, and you've got arguably the 2 best debuff sets in the game, tons of control, and lotsa healing.
If you want to play identical secondaries a pair of /kins would be epic, those bonuses stack and stack and stack. -
Alright looks like you've got something already Nethergoat but I'll still link to my checklist.

I'd be interested in that 1 page list from Panzerwaffen... -
I've got a printable 3-page list of all the recipes, their ingredients and little checkboxes to tick every time you craft something. My source was an ASCII list in the old forums which I cleaned up and formatted.
The wiki is great, but I find having a paper checklist convenient. You'll be grinding this over a few days, and the progress bar in the badge window won't tell you if you need 2 more level 25 or 2 more level 30 or one of each.
Does anyone know a good place to host a file like this, it's an OpenOffice document or I could convert it to a PDF.
Oh, and the extra salvage slots and the crafting table are fantastic, totally worth the effort. -
Run tips while leveling, buy the really expensive ones with alignment merits.
-
I kinda prefer my bots/ff or bots/traps to other toons on RWZ raids, because when I'm lagged for 5 seconds at a time my bots are still killing stuff. Both of those builds are low maintenance, so it's lag-friendly.
-
Quote:Triage beacon is mediocre but don't forget /traps has a great defence bonus for everyone from FFG.I would say it is the combination of a high Resistance and the 15% Defense, the debuffs, buffs (Forge) and the straight heals (not a slow +Regen with traps), that helped me to accomplish soloing AV's and Heroes.
edit - also poison gas trap is fantastic mitigation against crowds, and seeker drones eat the alpha.
My bots/traps took the medicine pool, which was handy while leveling but I don't seem to use it much at 50. -
I solved this problem by retiring my /ff mm and rolling a /traps mm.
Less fiddly, most of the defence, and lots more pew pew. -

I've been using one of my neglected lowbies to earn villain alignment merits. (My 50s villains are having too much fun running blueside content)
The alignment mishes are kind of fun, it's always nice to see new content, and to my altoholic mind it seems a great way to lucratively level alts.
So anyway I dinged 30 last night and have 4 vill merits to roll. Should I roll them at 30, or hoard 'till 35? What pool should I roll? -
Quote:Some kinds of survivability don't show up in Mids, a SS/WP built for recharge gets a LOT of mitigation from constantly spamming footstomp. That lovely AoE KD keeps everyone on their butts instead of attacking.I have to test, how much Def i need to make a Picknick inside a full Bunch of +2 or +3 Mobs. I will see how it works without Softcap. If it's OK for me it will free 3 Slots that i can use to up my Damageoutput and maybe change 1 or 2 of the other Sets to Crushing Impacts to get a higher Recharge.
I've got air superiority for extra mitigation, juggling bosses and LTs can keep you alive when things get dicey.
You could try hasten + footstomp in your alt build or on the test server or something, see if the playstyle suits you. Feels very smashy, you might be a convert
