Quote:And starting tomorrow...he gets taller.I've also been moving things in Samuel's room around. You know, like putting the stabler on the other side of the desk, switching the contents of dresser drawers, mismatching socks, etc. Next week, going to start changing the homepage on his web browser and drinking his all his milk then putting the empty jug back in the fridge.

My first 50 took me 606 hours. My most recent took 160. Combinations of teaming/soloing on both.

Quote:lol.I deleted a SG because no one was earning prestige.
Okay, it was a one-character SG and the decision was driven by practicality instead of true anger/frustration.
One of the nice things about solo SGs is if members start fighting, you've got bigger things to worry about than the SG.
So a friend of mine and I joined a themed SG based on a well-known group of young heroes who had a clubhouse. Everyone made a tribute character and we would get together for SG events every week and almost every night I could count on a couple of people from the SG being on who would throw me an invite.
That lasted almost two weeks.
One of the members (who was not the SG leader, but was highly ranked) took it into his head that he was in charge of EVERYTHING that everyone in the guild was doing. Down to sending tells telling you who to invite to your team, what mishes you should be running etc, etc, etc. Anyone who bucked him was kicked, and when the SG leader tried to re-invite people he would just kick them again.
This dissolved in the course of maybe a couple of days. It was absolutely the fastest up and down of an SG I have ever seen. -
Quote:Plus, hamsters get to drive cool cars. Don't forget about the cars. It's all about the hamsters. You perform an action that produces a pleasurable response, you will continue to perform that action even when the pleasurable response takes longer and longer to achieve - further down the time line when this response is achieved in only, say, 1 out 20 attempts, the scale of the pleasure is adjusted accordingly. People like pleasurable responses and given enough of them early on will want more and more and more.
Ever notice how the early levels fly by so quickly but later levels tend to last longer? You got hooked in the beginning. Little tastes.
Notice how the best/most visually attractive powers don't come until much later?
Designed to look within your reach.
Any creature with more than two brain cells to rub together can be easily modified to want more pleasure and we are certainly no different than hamsters in that aspect. -
Quote:Regardless, Liefield has much to answer for. You could put that as a tagline in almost any thread talking about comic book art.Did Liefeld ever draw Venom? I can't recollect such an incidence. The character was created by Todd McFarlane of Spawn fame and had his appearance with the long tongue added overhauled by Erik Larsen of Savage Dragon fame, but I can't seem to find Liefeld's touch anywhere.

Those are freaking awesome names. I give you teh internetz.

It was a theory, not an analogy (if it did indeed have anything to do with Einstein and general relativity at all). No wonder this thread is going in circles.

Quote:Oh god...I do exactly this, too.Inspirations are organized in the tray based on color and size, with offensive to the left, defensive in the middle, and healing / awakens to the right. Larger Inspirations go at the top, so as to not accidentally use it. And for some reason, I would rather die then use a large Inspiration that may have saved my life. They tend to get saved for "that next big battle, which will be worse then this", even though a death now is just as bad as a death later. Only later I'll still have the Inspirations!
Inspirations are my one true OCD experience in this game.
O.o
Edit: And, after reading the whole thread see that I am in good company. Nice to know I'm not the only crazy one out there. -

Quote:Marcian: After abandoning the thread where you & some others created "Statesline", you have forced it upon me again in your sig. I now reach for the brain bleach.I say they just use the number "40" to mean "a lot" and move on. Forty people died on Vulcan; there were only forty survivors. They lost over 99% of their people.
Or, to put it another way:
"AUGHGH! MY EYES"

Quote:All levity aside, it's due to the over-arching design of the game: ANY one hero/villain should be able to take 3 even con minions.But...but...there's no balance! What if I pull aggro? What if I need heals! Who is going to tell me that my damage is the sux0rz and I need to L2P n00b!?
OMG!!!!!!: eek:: eek:
But seriously...you can have an all damage team or all tank team or etc.. and still stomp your way across their faces without much of a drawback?
....
Not to be glib, but how is this possible?
That's the basis. Add in SOs, IOs, IO Sets, Inspirations, temp powers, etc, etc, etc and you have teams of any composition that bring the beatdown.
Oh, and please tell me (in regards to your first post) that you did not wait until you were 50 before you started teaming. Leveling in a group is one of the best things about this game.
Edit: Welcome to the game and the boards, alyssa! -
Quote:I had a similar experience when I first started playing, but mine was in Atlas Park. I remember going "Holy crap! You can climb the buildings" to "Holy crap! There are guys up here!"LOL!
I originally was going to suggest the Praetorian and hero run regular content...
I get nostalgic whenever I see a new player post. I remember (bones creaking, mumbling, old man story coming on) the good old days with my first characters, and how just getting into Kings Row was a big adventure. The excitement of climbing up the big buildings in the east side (the ones with the central atriums) and getting to the top, to find the Clockwork nests that then shocked the hell out of me, all the way back down Thud!
Ah, good times.
Good times...

Castle,
I've been trying for 6 years to get an FPARN after you. I'm sorry to see that my days of stalking you on the forums will soon end
Best of luck in future endeavors. You will be missed, your contribution to this game has been fantastic, IMO. -

Next up, Flatter Land by Ian Stewart. -
It does seem like the incidence of tips dropping has reduced. I used to get 2-3 from a radio mish, now it's more like 1 every 2-3 mission.
I've asked in game and everyone tells me it's my imagination, so for now I'm going to put this in the same bag as "reduced accuracy with every release", but it does still seem strange to me. -
I have a self rez on five or six alts and rarely use it. Unless you like setting the difficulty fairly high, dying is not very common in this game.
On the other hand, I love Melt Armor. Anything that reduces my opponents defenses so I can set him on fire for more damage is goodness to me -
First of all, welcome to the game!
I am not a min/maxer, so I won't comment on your build in that fashion, but just to let you know you have slotted some of the more expensive non-purple IOs in the game (Numina and Miracle uniques, Obliteration and (some of) Positron). It's not a big deal, just be aware that you will need 500M+ (more like a 1B+ at today's prices, but if you are patient prices will come down).
And, yes, you can run 5 tip missions per day and a morality mission after 10 of them to get an alignment merit that you can turn in for 5 random rare recipes. I highly recommend that. -

Quote:Really? And the use of 3 powers from our primary set doesn't count as actively participating?Damage, in itself, is not part of the reward criteria. Otherwise, we'd have situations where Scrapper vs. Defender would almost always yield smaller rewards for the defender.
The guys who built the scoring system have gone to extreme lengths to ensure that everyone who is actively participating gets a fair share of the rewards.
That's like saying I'm an enegy blaster but using energy bolt, energy blast and nova does not count as actively participating.
Actually, it's worse since I'd be uing 5 powers from my primary, 3 to summon the henches and 2 to buff them.
