Quote:Holy crap, I loved that movie. That's the movie that got me started thinking about time travel. And for those who might have wondered where the quote in my sig, Tempus unum hominem manet, Time waits for one man, is from? It's from the 1962 Science Fiction novel and 1980 TV movie, The Girl, The Gold Watch and Everything. Sadly Google now points that phrase to my forum posts, well at least until Saturday morning my time.

Quote:There's a really neat article (I'll see if I can find it) that talks about how they did that - essentially they used fibonacci sequences as random lookups into dataset to build their universe.I can see why you would think that, but they are *totally* different games. Even more amazing is that they managed to fit in so much stuff in such little amount of storage

I started saving my characters via TonyV and GuyPerfect's tool last night (side note - you guys rock!)
I may have sniffled just a little bit. My apologies. It was my allergies, really. -
Quote:Damn, Tony, that is awesome. Props to you and the hardest working heroes in town, Titan Network!Hey all, please don't do anything drastic with your characters. Don't delete them, don't nuke all of your stuff, don't do anything that is irreversible.
I'm saying this because of two reasons. First, as has been hinted in rumor threads elsewhere and even if it weren't a rumor it would still be possible, another studio may very well pick up this game. If so, it's entirely possible that the servers won't go dark on November 30. If that happens and the game keeps chugging along, you'll be kicking yourself for doing something permanent that carries forward after November.
Second, at the Titan Network, we are working on tools to export your character data in a form that, even if the servers go down November 30 but we're able to revive the game in some form, will be usable to recreate your character on alternate servers if need be. If you go deleting them or deleting all of your stuff, you'll lose the opportunity to do that and, if the servers are recreated at some point, you'll have to start from scratch instead of having your characters documented in a format that we can use to re-import them unscathed.
We'll be talking more about this as we make progress on our toolset--we're not keeping it a secret, but we're still in the process of working on it at a furious pace--but in the meantime, like I said, just please don't do anything permanently bad to your stuff.
Edit: and GuyPerfect, CodeWalker, Diellian and DeProgrammer! -
Quote:*hiccup*It is obvious that Dark Respite's goal is to get the entire forum drunks out of it's mind. I believe I will assist.
This post is a slap to the face to me, the entire gaming community, and my dog. I have over thirty veteran badges and have been playing 11 months, I deserve RESPECT.. You, Samuraiko, are the hitler of posters! You are a fascist, elitist tankmage who will DOOM this game. The so-called devs should strike you down where you stand. I deserve compensation for the overwhelming MINUTES I spent reading your post! Your post violates my rights in THE FIRST AMENDMENT somehow. You, like the entirety of all updatesincluding the ones I know nothing about and was not around for, are RUINING this game for ALL of us!
THATs it, I'm DONE! You can take your thread and shove it up your first amendment, I QUIT!
Right after I stick around for a few more years.
I jush read thish one post, an' I'm a lil' drunksh right now...
By the way, you forgot:
Anytime anyone joins the games and posts about zones being empty
Anytime anyone re-joins the games and cries DOOM because a zone is empty
**bonus drink if they mention ghost towns or tumbleweeds -
Quote:Light a candle for truthThe login screen could be a depiction of Times Square at New Years Eve and the forums would be discussing the number of crotches per square inch the artist rendered.
The login screen could have nothing but Lusca on it and the forums would figure out a way to make the discussion about crotches. If we removed everyone from the login screen we'd start seeing crotches in the clouds. -

... I'm running this freakshow farm. I need you to sit here at the entrance while 4 of us defeat everything on the map. DONT touch the glowies we will be doing it again.. and again ..,. and again
.... Oh heck lets see what else did they have in PI ? The demon farm.. two city blocks of COT fun. The Family Farm .. same two block different mobs (Da MOB). Actually just about anything that including at least one glowie you had to click was farmed at some point in PI and there were a couple where we just had to be super careful not to kill or agrro that ONE mob so we could exit and reset.
--- don't forget what the entire DFB trial is based on to begin with. Show up in Atlas Park and just start broadcasting "LF Sewer team" until you wound up racing through the sewers to level 6,7 or higher.. then head off to KR to do Radios. Hey at least the DFB has a Hospital and trainers we can use. Back then if you entered with 3 powers you exited with 3 until you could finally train. Oh and the easiest way to exit.. run head first into a huge mob and die. LOL
--- Herding all the wolves in an area into a dumpster and nuking the tar out of it, rinse repeat.
--- My personal favorite, when Hydra goo monsters in the Abandoned Sewer Network used to give out max int (65535) exp and inf. My first character hit 6 million inf killing those things. SIX MILLION! I thought I was such hot stuff I had to call my brother and tell him how much inf my character had. Nowadays, if I drop 6M inf on my way to the AH, it costs me more in time to stop and pick it up, so I just leave it -

Quote:Sounds to me like someone needs to get those darn kids off his lawnI just don't understand the YouTube zeitgeist of taking completely unrelated video and soundtrack and putting them together (or, in this case, characters from a movie animated to an unrelated song). I mean, it's a nice video, but any set of characters could have equally fit. Actually, characters from a movie where there were bad romances would have fit. But it's like:
Here's the space dogfight scene from Star Wars with Sound of Music's "Lonely Goatherd."
Here's Buffy and Angel's love scene to the Beatles's "Yellow Submarine."
Here's any scene from Harry Potter to a song picked by the roll of a d100.
I mean, if there was some connection from the visual to the soundtrack, it would make sense. But I just don't get it.
Also, it ticks the heck out of me when I'm searching for the actual unadulterated clip of a video and I get a thousand hits of nonsensically dubbed over visuals. (And don't get me started on all the false hits that come from brain dead 'response videos.')

Let's see - we were living in North Carolina for the first time, so it was 76-77, so I was 7 or 8 years old [yes, I'm THAT old](we moved around so much I remember my aged based on the house we were in).
My dad brought me some giant-size comics, I remember Fantastic Four with a reprint of "This Man, This Monster" and the Superman vs Flash "Race of the Century".
I think I learned to write in cursive from one of the FF stories where they have to all vote for a new leader and they each vote for themselves. Sue's ballot was in cursive handwriting, which fascinated me for some reason.
Shortly thereafter I had $0.25 burning a hole in my pocket and I bought the issue of Teen Titans that introduced Duela Dent, aka Joker's Daughter. I remember not knowing how to pronouce "Titans" and saying "tit-ans" (short "i"), much to the amusement of my parents. -
The sheer amount of nerdrage that would explode from these boards if they ever tried to implement this means I have to vote 'no'.
Without making Origin-based ANYTHING where they are not essentially the exact same thing with different special effects (at which point, why bother to differentiate them?) would mean that one of the Origins would then be 'better' than all the rest and being unable to change your favorite character's Origin would drive the vocal minority to an apoplectic fit of truly epic proportions. -
Fire Man, eh? A fellow Aberrant player, perhaps?

I have successfully run a CoH campaign using the Hero system. It was more complicated for me as I had to translate everyone's character into Hero and build all the villians, but for the players it was streamlined enough.

There was absolutely nothing scary about it. I saw it in the theater when it first came out and my brother and I looked at each other like "duh...no kidding, of course you are."

Quote:I find it a little hard to believe that he was hitting the "casting couch" all that often for the original series. It just was not that popular when it originally aired. Not to mention that he had no respect for woman, even his wife, if you were a good looking woman and you wanted to be on an episode of Star Trek, well rumor has it you had to sleep with him, I know he is not the first man in Hollywood to pull that and his wife was kinda derp to stay with him, if she knew he did that.
