Ive used outlook express for years, just because I was to lazy to install an open source client. but with the upgrade to win 7, windows live mail blows, IMHO.
I am forced to use Outlook at work. so, since i like the control over my email that outlook can provide, and it comes with my office install, why not. i use outlook for all my pop mail accounts now.
I could use a better (read: opensource) client like thunderbird, but I'm at a point now where learning new software just puts me in a boat where people ask me questions (read: parents tech support) and i like to avoid that ... -

Quote:That's incredibly bad news. Over the last two seasons, this show went from decent to must-watch for me. Hope they change their minds over the coming months.
I just realized there was a thread about this, all thanks to Nobles reply to it.
I didn't realize there was this much a CoH following of SGU.
So, I Have to quote what Noble said, QFT.
I will say, I hope things do change. Keep in mind guys, that Comcast will be purchasing NBC within a month or so, Comcast is all about the money, and if they look back and see that SGU could have made more money if in a better time slot, it may be back. I have a strong feeling that Comcast is going to replace all of NBC execs. which, since SyFy is owned by NBC....it will all fall into place (evil laugh)
either that, or MGM has other plans, they havn't made an official anouncment yet about the decision, and that usually means they "might" have a backup plan. (maybe, im just twisted, but probally a plant in the new execs that Comcast will be replacing with)

Um...wow.
Castle you are one of my favorite devs too. and there are only 2 devs on the team that I can say were on my fav list anyway...
For my CoH experiance, this is sad sad news...
but, for Floyd, (if) this is what you want, I hope you find yourself somewhere with such a great fanbase as you have now, and probally more so, better career out of it too. Good Luck in what ever you do, I Hope everything falls into place.
just a tip, take the I win button with you... you might need it, Somebody tells me there are a few high level mobs on paths like this....
Good Luck Floyd, I Hope your future is bright.

Mission Architect tickets don't drop unless upon completion of an MA mission...
and I have never had a vanguard merit drop from a mission that didn't involve rikti.. -
This morning My wife and I were teaming and did a few Tip missions.
It was her morality mission, and once completed, i had something ... Odd drop...
A Vangard merit and a Mission Architech ticket droped....
http://i53.tinypic.com/2irapu8.jpg
Now... My wife didn't have anything strange drop. It was just for me.
I for one welcome this bug if it would also drop Hero Merits. but i doubt that would happen since this character hadn't done them yet (back shelf toon for a while)
anybody else have similar strange drops latly?
I know this is strange, for one, this obviously wasn't an Mission Architect mission....

Quote:You can download the nvidia drivers you need for free at www.nvidia.com
reading is good, mmmkay -
-
... yea it is.... especially under linux.
ive gone through several of the distros, and it is a PAIN to get nvidia drivers to wrap, much harder just to get 3d aps to see it.
last time I worked Linux and ATi. I had a good rig within 5 minutes of getting the distro updated.
Ive used:
Fedora, Ubuntu, Mandrake (which is now mandriva), PC linux, and a little bit of slackware and centOS.
Fedora is total crap for getting any drivers to work right anyway, i just use it b/c im an idiot and like to follow the children of redhat -

Their $15 per month doesn't let them break the rules. Someone always brings up this silly argument about griefers, too. "Gee, they're paying customers too. If they enjoy harassing people, they should be allowed."
Yea, I play Eve-O as well, this is normal and considered working as intended.
There should not ever be a restrained world. If sombody wants to get some where quick without experiance thats fine. if sombody wants to be chuck norris and prove to be bad ****, thats fine too.
my point is, quit complaining. End of story. If you cant handle it, go solo. If you cant play solo, then IO out your toon, thats the point of IO's anyway, to solo. if you don't feel like doing either of that, go play hello kitty online.
just quit your dratting complaining, Your complaing is more irritating that the AE farmers. Just go friggen play. -
quit complaining. If people want to pl themselves. let them do it, Just go play the drating game. they pay $15 a month too. just like you. you are no more deserving than they, and visa versa.
If you can do nothing but complain, then quit playing, go find another MMO and find something to complain about that one too. -
yep, this happened to my wife yesterday. and it seams like the GM handling it wanted to know exactly what was lost.
since we cant remember what we had, looks like were SOL.
You would think that backups are kept.... in case something ... oh.. like this happens... -
1680*1050
Phenom II X4 @ 3.Ghz
4Gb ddr3
GTX 460
Win 7 x64
All settings maxed except FSAA and Ambient occlusions. (FSAA kept at 8x[because its a video ram hog when at x16 or higher], Ambient turned off, it drags performance down, and i visually don't see much of a difference between performance and off settings anyway)
in Cimerora i average about 50fps. standing near Imperious looking out dosn't affect it.
the only zone that seams to impact my average fps, is DA, but its not enough to make a visual difference. i mean, its DA, you cant see crap anyway... lol -
not sure if it was at the very START of beta; but what i have been able to gather is that it was reproted close to the start of beta.
Unless WW is talking about another bug altogether, the only bug(s) i know of right now that would prevent it from going live is the Kheldian form issue, and a Dom bug. If thats not the showstoper, then i may be wrong, but if that is the show stopper, then well... its the first bug i saw that wasn't touched in a while, and people were geting quite upset that it hasn't been "addresed in some time" -
blah, there goes my moral for the game. a showstoper bug that was reported at the start of beta, prevents the game from launching before a big holiday.
i'll just come back when I20 is live. -
I hear zombie man plays both a spy and a heavy in TF2, AT THE SAME TIME!
and in minecraft, he found a way to use a saddle on a cow... -
I just wonder if Chris Bruce kept his personal account active.
and wonder if he actually replied to this thread or not. (i mean, technically your not breaking contract if nobody knows your actually the person, and your not saying, "hey, im babs, im back B****s")
if so, i wonder which one of the trolls is the old babs? -
the dxdiag results trump the coh helper results for me, once i noticed that the dxdiag results were giving real info, then I assume that coh helper has a problem.
-
Yea, heat could be a big culprit. I think it may have something to do with the amount of ram your video card has. ultra mode at high resolutions is a Vram hog. (at least in my experiance).
If you want to run at those higher resolutions, try turning off Ambiant occulsions. (I turn this off on mine just b/c i don't like it and it improves performance a bit) -

Quote:11FPS with those settings in Praetoria, and you have a pair of GeForce 470s? That cannot be right. Not at all. What CPU do you have?
+1...
Im running a single 460 and i have better performance under those conditions. -

Ok, since youve updated your drivers, re run the coh helper report.
I have a feeling since your video and sound card drivers are over 2000 years old, that there may be something greater going on.
Heat does sound like a general culprit for constant shut downs, but for more info, what resolution did your old monitor handle? High resolutions can do a lot, but that can be eliminated as a cause by lowering your graphics settings in COH, try turning the graphics settings down in small increments, if it keeps crashing, even on the absolute lowest settings, then i doubt its the resolution. -
I have to agree completly with je_saist.
I have looked over the stats, and the architecture changes (what little there are) of the GTX 580. the ONLY thing i can see the 580 having over a 480 is Dx11, and even then, its not much of an improvment. the benchmarks i have seen comparing the GTX400 cards to the radeon 6000 cards for directx 11 have been lacking on nvidia's side. the 500 series apears to just bring them up to what AMD is able to do with directX11.
so basicly, If you looking for a brand name, sure get it.
or, if you want the brand name and just want to spend as much money as possible for rendering that only 3 or 4 pc games todate can handle... sure...
but, if you really want directx 11 support (which is the only step up i see with the 580 over a 480) you'll probally do better off saving $100 and getting the Radeon. (afterall, the overal benchmarks for DX11 lean better toward the Radeons anyway)
Its really getting down to value of performance, IMHO, it would look like the best value is AMDs cards, they are getting just about the same performance for a good savings.
