i19 broke my graphics (stole my lunch money and kicked my dog after calling me names)

Edit: Info up front. ATI Radeon HD 5800 (x2 w/crossfire) 10.11 drivers.

I opened the log on screen with a red message at the bottom of the screen saying 'update your drivers'. I ignored that and entered my info. I played for months with that message earlier in the year so it didn't bother me but it was back now after having gone away.

At the character select screen my characters were all silhouettes. A few had like a forearm that was displayed or the trim on a cloak. Random and only just a few. Guess maybe the warning was something I shouldn't ignore.

In game I see blue/gray silhouettes of the landscape. /unloadgfx flashes a correct looking display for less than a second and it changes perspective too. It is very close up to the character no matter how far out it have the perspective view. Then it returns to the blue/gray. I did this multiple times on mulitple characters too.

Died to a Ritkti raid trying to run away in the dark with one character .... yay.

So I update my ATI drivers. They were version 10.4. (pretty sure) Now they are 10.11. Same problem exists with newest version.

What did you guys do? Things looked great yesterday. Today; totally broken.

Disabling Advance Graphics Settings fixed things.

... that's ultra mode? ... but I want ultra mode.

With Advanced Graphics Settings enabled and the options under that at the lowest settings things work.

I have two ATI HD 5800 running crossfire. Shouldn't that handle anything the game throws at me?

*sigh*

It's playable. It actually looks okay but it isn't what it should be.

No, "advanced graphics settings" aren't UM iirc. If you use the basic graphics slider that is left behind when all the other options are hidden if you raise it up past performance it starts enabling UM features with that slider as well.

EDIT: Oh OH OH. I think I just figured it out.

Go into your Catalyst Control Center and set anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering to 'Use application settings'. That should fix you.

As other suggestions go, disable Catalyst AI, set mipmaps to maximum, vertical refresh to 'On, unless application specifies', anti-aliasing mode to 'Adaptive Multi-sample AA', and turn Triple Buffering on. These are unrelated to your problems, but are best for image quality.

Thanks for the advice Necrotron. My video looks better than before after getting into the Catalyst control and playing with the settings as you suggested!

I found that the original problem occurred because absolutely nobody that also lives in this house and plays on this account messed with the video properties. Nope, nobody touched it. Nobody swears to this, with a bit of a smile that hints nobody lies. Played with occlusion I think.
