HOOOHA!!! just remember omnifayt was the first to post in this great addition to the CoH gameplay!!!
But on a serious note will this somehow be implemented into CoH too? I mean i know heroes dont go smashing stuff. But they should have something new to get them away from the same ol mission types right?
[/ QUOTE ]
We shall remember - as we celebrate over our dark victory over all that is good! Muwahahaha!
Seriously though, it does seem like there would need to be some alteration to implement this on the hero side.
Perhaps heroes could be sent into the middle of a vast Arachnos base where they just have to take out everything. If it belongs to the bad guys, it's free game to get destroyed right?
But I really can't think of any way heroes will be able to attack civilians. Sometimes it just pays to be bad -
This sounds really great. This may very well replace Siren's Call as my favorite PvP zone.

Will the events in RV change the landscape of the entire game?
[/ QUOTE ]nope, just the zone of Recluse's Victory itself.
[/ QUOTE ]
That's what I assume too, but with those messages from Recluse and Statesman really make is sound like some kind of permanent change could occur to the game based on the zone - but that's what they're supposed to do
Superheroes/villains can't go to the supermarket without making it all dramatic -

You know, for *once* I completely love a piece of design by the devs, and what happens?
Everyone else hates it.
I like the Patron Powers, I like the reddish electricity, it's cool all around, imho. Sadly, hardly anyone seems to agree.
[/ QUOTE ]
I agree..
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm actually interested in Patron Powers too, but that's because Ghost Widow's PPs fit in so well with the concept for my Necro/Dark MM (And who would mind being GW's minion? Rawr!)
I was going to start up a Dominator too and his concept doesn't seem to fit in with any PP, so I'm just going to skip them lol.
Afterall, they can't force us to take them and as long as I get to see how they work on one of my alts, I'm happy.
[ QUOTE ]
Your power guys? Your *power guys*? You let power guys take over look and feel of the game? We're shooting spirit sharks at people. *SPIRIT* *SHARKS* at... *PEOPLE*!! And you're worried about camp? Sheesh. Tell the power guys that they're not designing powers for Sir Alistair Cooke and turn it back into Chum Spray.
[/ QUOTE ]
Gotta agree with this point here. Not that I'd ever take the power (unless I made up 'Evil Fishboy' as another alt) but I do think Chum Spray is more fitting with the 'Shark motif' they seem to want.
Also I would not be against allowing Ancillary pools for villains. The more choices the better! Customization is the hallmark of CoX afterall.
BTW - I think it's really, really cool we can pick the same power Ghost Widow used to flatten Positron and Foreshadow in the CoV cinematic
It would be great if on a mayham mission you can get Positron to show up ("Hey Posi, remember THIS??" ) -
Freaking AWESOME!
Urge to SMASH growing too powerful!! Must destroy! DESTROY!!
This is going to be sweet -

Thanks for answering the questions, Posi.
Maybe I'll get mine answered another day, or better yet, when the Issue releases.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same here.
Many thanks for answering the questions Posi.
THIS is one of the things that remind me why I left a certain other overly popular MMORPG for this game - Here there are Devs who actually comprehend the meaning of *community* and take the time to help foster it. /applaud
[ QUOTE ]
There is a positive change for Dominators in Issue 7.
[/ QUOTE ]
And here I was planning on rolling up a Dominator for Issue 7 since I really liked the class during the beta. Get Out of My Head!! AHHH!! -
The powers sound interesting but I guess I'm okay with them because Ghost Widow's set ends up matching my Necro/Dark MM's concept very nicely.
I might be less enthused if I had a character concept that didn't fit with any of powers/patrons (Spectral Sharks? Okaayy - that seems like it could only applied to limited range of concepts)
More generic powers might be better for those who want them to fit with their characters.
Or better yet - CUSTOMIZABLE powers that allowed you to pick the FX even if the actual game effect was unchanged. (Maybe even just a change in coloring?) -
[ QUOTE ]
From what I can see, few other MMs have this kind of tolerance, however, and do not even resort to running/Flying/SSing/SJing/TPing away, even when they have no status or secondary effects affecting their mobility.
[/ QUOTE ]
I run all the time in Siren's Call. I've become quite practiced at fleeing all the time because if I don't my MM gets pasted.
You can find some amusement in it, like when some bad-*ss scrapper attacks your minion-less MM and you're agile enough to escape leaving them to realize they've completely failed take out an AT with the lowest HP.
I always figured it was part of the Mastermind-schtick. You know, how they always seem to turn tail and head for the hills at the sign of trouble.
Bodyguard sounds like my MM won't have to run away so much. They might even be able to stay in a fight. I'm looking forward to it and seeing how it works in the Call. -

Here at NCsoft we share an office with Destination Games, the development house working on Tabula Rasa, and I often run into a concept artist who spends a large portion of his time drawing concept art for the game in a common area of our building.
[/ QUOTE ]
POST SOME SNAPSHOTS OF TABULA RASA ART!
It will be our little secret! We won't tell anyone, honest! Right people??
[ QUOTE ]
"almost anyone can draw decently - if they are willing to work at it."
[/ QUOTE ]
It's been said already, but just like anyone can learn to play a musical instrument, if you don't have the inherent talent your art, whether it is drawing, music or otherwise, will not have any true life or depth.
People need to cope with the fact that they might not have talent in some particular field, that's no reason to get angry at those that do. -
Excellent Guide.
Informative, clear, well-written and funny.
Every Necro/Dark MM should read this one! -
Best wishes! It was cool having you be part of CoH!

According to the Cyberjocks site:

Check out all our games including City of Heroes, City of Villains, Guild Wars, Lineage, and Lineage II. As a special treat, come and give our soon-to-be-released game Auto Assault a spin!
[/ QUOTE ]
It looks like they're covering NCSoft games, so I was wondering if there was any chance on getting a little inside dish on the current state of Tabula Rasa?
The website hasn't been updated since Nov. I'm wondering what's going on. -
See now THIS is why I'm so glad I quit WoW and began playing this game again.
Spandex forever. -
[ QUOTE ]
That's not what we were told before. It was said to us that if we failed to pay rent, our base would lose functionality, but we could still enter it normally. Also, we were told at about hte same time that rent could never get more than one "rent cycle" behind- it doesn't accumulate, and paying the most recent rent charge would catch us up completely.
This didn't come out of thin air. This is what the dev team posted, and to find out 2 months after the game went live that this isn't the way it works is a fairly major "oversight." Can you tell us if the second part of this is still true, that back rent doesn't accumlate, or did you guys decide to change that without telling anyone too?
[/ QUOTE ]
/Signed. I remember the information that things would just power down, not be locked out. -
[ QUOTE ]
Granted, I do grind for prestige some nights. I stealth it to the end of the Newspaper mish's, kill the boss, and move to the next mish.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you're saying all we have to do is use the kind gameplay that resulted in ED?
I'm pretty sure stealthing to the end of a mission, avoiding all the content/mobs leading up to that, and killing the boss just to get the bonus and going to the next mission is the exact kind of thing that will get stealth nerfed by the Devs.
But don't think I'm saying you should stop doing it. Not at all!
Seriously, keep it up and congratz on finding a way around this poor choice in game design when it comes to Base costs.
This kind of gameplay, better than anything else, will show the Devs what small VGs must do to cope with the ridiculous imbalance of base costs.
Statesman will certainly notice when more and more playbers *HAVE* to take steps like this just to use someting that was touted as a truly innovated system in CoV.
It's a pity that people in small VGs can't access that content by simply playing the game *the way the Devs intended*. They need to purposely grind/skip mission content with methods like Reformed is using. -
This has been a very cool Q&A series.
Many thanks for organizing and posting them. -
Good to hear Statesman! Thanks for the post.
It's always nice when a problem/concern is acknowledged and the Community is informed that it is being worked on. -
SMASH is so much fun, but I was seduced away by the joys of watching minions die for me. But I already know which is going to be my next alt once I hit the level cap.
It is really nice having a game with AT's so cool that I'm looking forward to making alts rather than making alts because I've gotten bored with my character. -
You rock, thanks for post this!

Where are the "villainous" missions?
[/ QUOTE ]
We do get to rob banks on a regular basis, though you'd think the old 22nd would be out of business by the number of times it's been hit. I hope there's more variety of places to rob at higher levels, maybe even an armored truck heist in an outdoor Instance.
We do get to fight more heroes once you pass level 10. My 16th level villain has fought more heroes compared to the lack of supervillains my hero encoutered by the time they were 16th. It's hard to count AVs because you need a group for them and combat is so frantic with all the minions, it's more fun to face your foe toe-to-toe by yourself.
CoV is a very sanitized form of villainy. I've noticed some of the NPCs 'hostages' you rescue saying things like 'You ought to be a hero' - which just made me want to kill them on the spot
We're not the modern, Hannibal Lector kind of villains, I guess Cryptic went more for the classic Golden Age villains who always try to take over/destroy the world but never seem to end up killing people in the process. /shrug They've already said that this game wasn't going to be Grand Theft Auto with superpowers. -
I wasn't sure I was going to like PvP in CoV - I come from playing WoW where PvP=get killed repeatedly by higher-level uber-guild powergamers, even in their 'balanced' Battlegrounds.
But I had fun on tonight's PvP beta test in spite of the lag. It was really neat battling alongside NPCs against other players and hostile NPCs.
If you were getting ganked alot there was one rule that I learned quickly:
ALONE IS BAD - Find other heroes ASAP and stick with them. Even if it's just one other stranger, you DON'T want to wander the Call alone.
I just ran around until I found a big fight then stuck with the mob as best as I could. Got into a group at one point which really made it fun. -
I'll take anything I can get as far as End goes.
But I still think I'm going to be using Stamina regardless of the End Div and End Red. -

I always knew Juan was evil....
I mean, come on. He's standing on a rooftop guarded by Clockwork.
Evil, I tell you.

I knew I wasn't the only person thinking this! -
Visceral - you ROCK!
(And I was going to say that solely based on the first post, then I scrolled down and saw the rest.
Awesome job man, you should get a permanent in-game zombie pet for this! -
I noticed Cuppa has organized and added Issue Ratings for the Defender Guides! And this is the so far the *ONLY* DDD guide for I5 listed.
I don't know if this is the place to ask this but can I get people's thoughts on adding a Range Increase to Howling Twilight? It seems I have to practically standing on top of the corpse for this to activate, so it doesn't really serve as a group heal unless you have a nice neat stack o' bodies.
Will this be helped if I add a Range Enhancer or should I just not bother and deal with the fact I'll really only be able to rez one teammate most of the time?
