E&B resurrected, maybe CoH too?
It took them forever to ressurect it though. Not that I am complaining, I loved Earth and Beyond and felt they pulled the plug to soon. But its something to hope for, if all current plans go south.

An emulator is one of the options being considered - but right now, the focus is on trying to get NCSoft reverse its decision, or sell off the game to another publisher or to a Kickstarter fan project.
If that doesn't work out, we're going to try getting them to release the IP, and maybe even the server code.
If that doesn't work out, things get complicated - but not impossible.

Maybe we're crazy.
Worth a shot.
If those don't work, we basically create a new game with the spirit of CoH from the ground up. The Engine, the Lore, everything. If we can get the Creator right, if we can get the devs, if we don't get legal down our backs, maybe it'd feel like home.

And lore-wise, the comic book setting makes it easy to avoid legal trouble while still creating a very similar setting.

The devs seem to not be able to post much info, so I am going to keep an eye out for whatever you find out about.

Someone kinda did that already, buddy.
One thing I love about this game is the community. Some of the most talented people I know. If anyone group can keep this game going in one shape or another it is this one.
NeoSaturn-L50 Kat/Regen Scrapper
Paragon Family Swift
NeoSaturn's Deviations
Let's not trash or insult Champions. Their community seems to be pretty supportive of us right now, and a Cryptic Dev who used to work here was even posting here yesterday.
I know people are upset about losing COH, and believe me, I am too.. But let's try not to take it out on people who aren't even remotely to blame.
I was just pointing out that there was a reason that there was no mass migration from CoH to CO, and why it went F2P in a year.

There have been some very supportive posts over on the CO forums. I think the folks there feel our pain.
As for spirit... isn't that something we carry with us? If we can't keep the game alive I know that's what I'm hoping to do - take the spirit someplace new and hope it takes root.

They were the "enemy" for a while, sure- I wouldn't have even slightly considered moving to Champions while COH was still running. But yes, moving there does seem like the best thing COH players could do, if they mean to preserve the "spirit" of their characters and their community.
Well, myself and my friends will most likely be migrating to Champions, so *shrug.*

I could never start over and do this all over again. Imagine having one (1!) level 1 toon.... *shiver* No, I wont touch an MMO ever again.
|
I feel the same. Guess I'm breaking free of the online gaming world unless some sliver of coh is saved. This was the only mmo I've been a part of and have no real interest in mastering another.
I'll most likely be trying out Champions too, someone make sure we've got a CoH Refugee chat channel or something ready to join.
Also, from what I've heard the CO Community has been really kind and supportive of CoH since this announcement, we should return the favor.
Doubtful given people trying to resurrect Tabula Rasa and having no joy there.

It wasn't City of Heroes - there's something very special about this game and its community.
|
Still, I've read that Richard Garriot didn't manage to get the rights to Tabula Rasa, and that certainly makes it harder to imagine we will be able to succeed.

If we can't save our City, I'll be joining you over there, after all.
EA pulled the plug on Earth & Beyond in 2004. It was (and is) a very good game. My favourite online game until CoH came along.
CoH is a great game! If E&B can be resurrected by a third party, perhaps CoH can as well. It has even more going for it more players, more content, etc.
I'll be playing CoH to the very end.
After that you might find me here:
