I still have to unlock Hybrid.
Elsegame: Champions Online: @BellaStrega ||| Battle.net: Ashleigh#1834 ||| Bioware Social Network: BellaStrega ||| EA Origin: Bella_Strega ||| Steam: BellaStrega ||| The first Guild Wars: Kali Magdalene ||| The Secret World: BelleStarr (Arcadia)
I'll be here until the doors close.
Not at the moment. If I jump in game now, I will definitely cry.

I actually lost it a little and needed a tissue when I was reading the Dev farewells in the forums. I'm pretty sure I couldn't return to the game at this point, even for its final days. No... especially for its final days.
edit - never mind. on the final day I'll be present. When the planet smasher unleashed by Ziltoid nears the Earth, I'll meet the end with everyone else.
I had been playing with an AR/Dev character in anticipation of the upcoming blaster changes.
It looks like CoX goes out on a somewhat bookended way, since I recall the most fun sound EVER in CoX was listening to the BOOM of the AR buckshot power back when the game was shiny and new in beta and then being driven insane by the sound of targeting drone and devices getting nerfed into being the worst secondary...the game really did die before /Devices ever got fixed.
I'll be here as long as we have a game to play and a forum to chat in.

Its just the first day,
but I don't feel like playing.
"That's all there is, there isn't any more..."
~Ethel Barrymore's curtain call line, designed to send insistently worshipful audiences on their way.
As heart breaking as it is, its a comforting quote.
I feel saddened, and too sick to my stomach to play, like the rest of you. I want to do the things I never got to do, but there simply isn't time for that.
At most, I would have loved at least one more great year. It's never easy saying goodbye.
I did the best I could but I still tear up at the thought of losing one of the greatest communities of people I've ever been given the honor of being a part of.
I registered http://www.cityofheroesveterans.com and did what I could for today. It's going to be my last and most painful project involving this game, but I don't want folks to loose contact with each other.
NCSoft, should, at the very least, keep the domain and forums up here for a few years to let people organize and find a new home
"Last one out get the lights."
"I have something to say! It's better to burn out then to fade away!"
If they were letting them go out the way that Tabula Rasa went out then I would almost certainly be here until lights out.
Judging by today's events, that's not going to be the case. I'll probably withhold judgement until I see how the next week plays out, though.
If it's just "play the game until they flip the power switch" then I'll probably move on sooner rather than later.
/this.
I'm sure I'll be in game, especially that last day... Right now, though, it feels like going to a funeral. |
I think I'll log in, take some fraps of my favorite places and characters (flying!!) but I just don't think I can PLAY.
And I don't think I can be there for the last day. I want to. I really do. But I just don't think I can. It'll be like standing there while something beautiful dies. I just can't.
God, when I think how excited we all were when they finally added CAPES into the game....
My husband and I have been completely bummed out all day. We started playing CoH together while we were dating in college. Well, actually, HE started playing, then convinced me to make a character on his account, I stole his account and he had to buy another one. Anyway. We've been moping all day. It feels like finding out a dear friend has terminal cancer.
I just can't.
I'll probably be around the forums until the end, but it's likely I won't log into the game again. If I do log in, I'll probably delete most of my characters and spend a bunch of leftover points on soon-to-be-useless items.
Goodbye may seem forever
Farewell is like the end
But in my heart's the memory
And there you'll always be
-- The Fox and the Hound
I keep logging in and then just...logging out. Went and purched on top of the Atlas Globe. Can't seem to make myself do much else.
I have decided that, beyond being angry about being shut down, I have another reason for never, EVER spending another red cent on an NCsoft product. The treatment of Paragon studios, some of the best developers I have ever had the joy of knowing. These fine people were let go just like that. No prior warning. Nothing. Just gone. And I think that is the worst crime of all. While yes, we all lost something important, they lost both that and their jobs.
NCsoft can go **** itself.

I'll be here till the shut the servers down, i want to play my favorite cahrs one last time and watch the sun set on this fair City of heroes and villains, i will miss all of you when that day comes
Going to miss the fun and nice people here at CoH. Feel free to add me on PS3/XBox360
PS3X360: OmniNogard
Currently playing: Mass Effect 3(PS3) Minecraft(X360) Skyrim(X360).
I'm defiantly sticking around until the servers get shut down. CoH deserves to go out with a bang.
So how do you want to be done? Medium, Well or Extra Crispy?
@BW. The REAL @BW.... oh alright, @Catheram
Honourable United
ELFLING AMBUSH!!
I know after you've been kicked in the head, one reaction is to leave the barn. But if CoH's closure hurts, does it make sense to leave right away? Why not stay and keep having fun?
The jacka** who kicked us was not the developers, nor the players. It looks like we have until at least 30 November. So, please, let's make the most of it until then. |
I also plan to go out very melodramatically.
My wife and I will be logging in on the last day and spending our entire play session in character.
Except for the last few minutes when we say goodbye to everyone....
.....dammit, I promised myself I wouldn't get choked up.

I took screenshots in a few zones.
I'm going to try to hit as many others as possible. Still want to play some of the things I haven't played yet. And get shots of as many costumes on as many characters as possible.

It's like the amount of themselves they poured into this game didn't mean a ******* thing to NCSoft when it came to kicking them out in the street.
NCSoft's official statement is exactly that....an official statement designed to cover up the fact that they did this in the most reprehensible, cowardly and callous way possible.
News flash mother*******......we ain't buying it. Or anything else you're selling for that matter.

Yeah, the bit in the official statement about "those of you reading this after the fact" tells me that the vast majority of the dev team didn't know they were unemployed until they showed up for work this morning.

Shall I play this weekend? No. Mein herz brennt, to quote a German band. It burns with anger and sadness, but I have Doctor Who and Castle to watch among other things, and work to do on other stuff.
