It was great while it lasted...a toast to Freedom Server

As I sit here typing this, I can't help but feel anything but betrayed by NCSoft. Over the past year, this game as taken great strides in offering new content, developing storylines and offering nothing but a promising future.

Sorry, but I was going to make an epic post here but I find that I am a little too emotionally upset to think straight.

Until they flick the switch, you will find me patrolling the streets of Paragon City, fighting crime and upholding justice.

To the friends I've made in this game, hopefully we can meet again in another digital world of wonder.

I am devastated by the news of this. This game has been a part of my life for so long, and I've made so many wonderful friends from it. It has literally changed me as a person. I think for the better.

I will be here until they completely shut down, no matter how long that will be. I'll continue to run Monday Night events until the end.

I'll miss all of my in game and out of game friends. I'm on Facebook and keep up with a lot of the Horde on there. Please feel free to add me as a friend on there.

Hopefully the majority of the Horde will settle down on a new MMO and we can all keep in touch. I'm not really excited about another MMO the way I am about this one.... but I don't want to lose out on interacting with all the cool people I met here. I hope we can establish somewhere new and get a new sets of events rolling.

Blaze. Whatever they do to the servers, go so strongly we light up the heavens. So boldly the seas cease. Make the devil dance our tunes, and have the angels for the backdrop.

I call for the Monday Runs to fight and fight our last runs well. I say, burn that mothership in raids so everyone remembers. Send that hami down to the BBQ shack. Remind the Romans that there is another empire that surpasses them. Kick that 5th in the teeth until they all start filling out voter registration cards and never consider totalarian views again.

Play well, play strong, and remember who we are.

I am very disappointed in NcSofts actions, out of the blue they announce they are pulling the plug? It feels like NCSoft is saying, thank you for your money over the past 5 years but now we have tapped this resource dry we are going to move on to another richer resource, have a nice day! I am sure they knew this was coming for sometime but yet kept it from the customers as well as I'm sure some of the employees that work for them.

There is a petition going around, you can find it on change dot org then just type in ncsoft in the 'find' box. I'm not sure if this will keep the game going or not, but maybe it will show the powers that be at NCSoft we love the game, we love our server and we love our SG and VG families, and we want the game to continue.

There are just no words.

Except this.

I will set aside The Secret World (which I really dig), and play COH until they close shop.

Nonstop.

Goodbye, my friends. I had a great time in Freedom.

I loved playing on Freedom. It had some of the best, friendliest and capable players I've ever met. (Except for that one leader of the LGTF who kicked my fire blaster out of the TF for an elec blaster.....GRRR!)

I'm going to miss running itrials and TF's with you guys (incognito). Though I expect I'll get more than my fair share over the next few weeks.

I expect I'll continue to drop in on Freedom mostly in the evenings as usual, until I can't find my friends online any more. And I'll keep an eye on that cityofheroesveterans.com website.

I honestly have NO idea what game I'm going to migrate to. And I need a "mental health" break -- CoX has been fantastic, with the super flexibility to do pretty much whatever I feel like that day. Roll a new character? Play with costumes for hours on end? Solo? Team? Massive incarnate trial or other big league-y thing? Heck, it even had a bit (a bit!) of PvP, and I generally don't like PvP at all.

But what I liked, most of all, was the camaraderie with strangers and friends alike. Someone find an MMO with that same sense of teamwork that isn't full of idiot kids or crickets, and let us know.

I haven't been active on CoH the past couple of years. Logging in mostly to move my character around for day job badges. CoH has been the longest MMO I've ever played in, 5 straight years since 2005. So I'm saddened by the news when I heard about it closing last night.

Freedom has always been the server I played on. So many fond memories on this server. From playing with my real-life friends and relatives here, to playing with online friends with the Freedom Horde.

I'll be around once in a while, until the servers shutdown on November.

Oh my gosh, I heard about this news on twitter and was hoping it was just a horrible joke. I can't believe we are losing what feels like my second home.

I have been out of power (stupid hurricaine issac) otherwise I would be in game enjoying the last days/weeks of this wonderful game. I still hope to finish my titan brute and start my water corruptor. So many things left to do! I hope to see everyone on another game someday---i'll miss all my freedom friends, even Cover girl.

The only MMO I've ever played (besides beta testing) was "City of Heroes" but unless some miracle happens over the next couple of months, I need to find a new home.

It looks like it's going to take some getting used to but I'm really enjoying the two new games I've bought over the weekend, "Star Wars: The Old Republic" and "The Secret World".

For "The Secret World", I'm on the Arcadia server with the player name "Solostaran", who is of the Templar faction and I may create one for the Illuminati.

For "ST:TOR", I'm on the Jedi Covenant server with two characters, "Drakkulor", a Sith Inquisitor and "AgentBorne", a Jedi Consular.
