Time for Another Name Wipe

I suggest that it is time for another character name wipe. I recommend wiping the character names of any player that has not logged on for three years or longer, no matter the level of the character. Let's face it, if someone hasn't played the game in three years (especially now that the game is free-to-play), odds are he or she isn't coming back and is basically holding character names hostage from players that are still playing the game.

Actually a bunch of people have come back from absences of 3 years and more since the game went FTP.

But you're not going to be swayed by such rational arguments, so here's a picture of Gary who is Getting Down to Business.

Suggest away!

But it is a terrible idea that won't happen as per Dev statements.

Actually, I suggest that every person who creates a name-wipe thread has all their characters name-wiped.

Everybody wins!

.... except that there have, indeed, been people coming back after 3 or more years, especially since the game went F2P.

So you could have read that thread and added to it without it being a necropost.

So this thread brings the total up to 17 threads requesting name wipes in the past year.

Hm.. I wonder if we should start a new thread discussing the end of 2012 over/under range for threads with this topic, and the power set "respec" requests...

Don't worry, there will be a huge name wipe coming Soon™.

If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.

Black Pebble is my new hero.

You’ve been with us every step of the way, sharing in our challenges, encouraging us to make City of Heroes better, more than everyone else thought it could be. We couldn’t have come this far without you. I implore you all, focus on the good things of CoH and Paragon Studios. As for me I guess I'll be playing GW2 from now on.

Unless they come out with COH2 pretty darn quick, I don't think I'll be giving NC Soft any of my funds anytime soon.

Devs would post more if they could say "hi!" without people whining because they wanted them to say "hello".

So I'm just curious to learn if the OP is happy that he'll be getting that name wipe he asked for.

As they say, Be careful what you wish for as you just might get it!

Oh the irony..

Be fair, the OP wanted a name wipe (a common request, with a common and reasonable response from the regulars).

HE DIDN'T ASK FOR THE GAME TO CLOSE. Why would he be any more happy with it's closure than anyone else? Does anyone think THIS request was the tipping point?

Sorry about shouting, I'm a little raw right now.

If a name wipe happens in a forest that's just been burned to ash and cinder, does anyone hear it?

and the OP just wanted some names he wanted, which is silly and covetous but not evil.

Well they got my money a month before they announced they were shutting down CoH. So since I can't get it back I'm gonna use what I bought.

LMAO you SHALL get your request granted come November 30, 2012 when the servers shut down for good. I just think it's funny you probably unknowingly posted this the same day it was announced that Paragon Studios was shut down by NC Soft and the game was being shut down for good.

It's called dark humor and it looks like everyone but one person understood that.
