Is it VIP friendly or do I have to pay for this?

Unfortunately, everyone's subject to give up 800 paragon points to get this power.

So no, it's not VIP-friendly.

Here's a rule of thumb to answer that question, now and (presumably) in the future:
  • Is the new powerset part of the launch of a new issue? Then it's free for VIPs.
  • Is it a stand-alone market release that's not part of a new issue launch? Then it's a paid-for game add-on.

Issue 24 didn't go live today, just Nature Affinity. Therefore, Nature Affinity is not free for VIPs.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

I like the idea of developer voiced trailers to explain new sets - is this going to be a new thing for the future, or just a one-off for this set?

I'm sure there are a few Necro/Nature Masterminds out there who would beg to differ.

Does anyone know offhand if they've changed Zenflower in Vernon von Grun's arc to have Nature Affinity instead of her other random assorted powers? Just curious.

(That lady always gives my villains a really, really hard time.)

That sound you hear is thousands of video cards dying in overloaded agony.

If your setup balks at Nature Affinity, it's simple... just get a new computer. Problem solved! You'll be supporting The Economy* and better able to appreciate Honey Badger's killer animations. A "win-win" as they say.

*Don't go too crazy, though; it's still doomed

A Devouring Earth revamp could use some of these powers, as well as Plant Control and Water Blast - the poor old DE were basically ahead of their time in 2004 :-p

As a long standing VIP member this is disappointing, I would have hoped the payments we make as part of the VIP would allow us to play any new Power Set that is introduced.

400 pts a month says you can.

As a long-standing VIP member, you should know that this has been the system that's been in place since Freedom went live

Given that last month a new set was introduced, this month a new set was introduced, and most people seem to think next month a new set will be introduced, and the sets are twice the monthly allotment...no, 400 points/month really doesn't...

That said, a VIP subscription does pay for beta, and all the sets are free there...

I didn't see many toons showing off this power on Freedom Server

You know... if they put out 10 new sets for sale in one year, and you don't have any intention to make at least one new toon using each of the sets... you don't have to buy all the sets, just the ones you use. You don't *have to* have every set unlocked on one's account if you're not going to use it. In fact, you can be patient and wait for sales. If you want to just get a feel for the set, then Beta Server is that way --->

Don't believe they ever promised that. In fact, I'm fairly sure they said, rather bluntly, that that would not be the case back when Freedom launched.

Your hope is already reality. To date, new power sets are released slowly enough that the 400 points VIPs earn a month can easily get them all. Of course, if you want to get other stuff too like the Panther travel power or costume sets, then you may have to wait a couple months to get a new set. Either way, VIPs don't have to pay a dime extra for any new power set.
