Never claimed to be perfect. In fact, if you read my original reply I mentioned that I have to chase after my own bad spelling. I'll never catch them all, even though I try. I have plenty of issues with my own grammar, which is why I was trying to be helpful. You were presenting something that wasn't easy to read.
Oh what you thought that I was going to act you are god incarnate and give you praise because you come in here grammar nazi like ony to point out the mistakes? Well then sorry to break it to you, you aint god. I've seen your posts and most of them contain mistakes. I dont go around nit pickign atr it but you have the audacity to come to my post and nitpick spelling. That's not elitist. I guess it was wrong word on my part. that is a hypocrite. Plain hypocrite.

Should someone find spelling or punctuation errors and point them out to me, I'd fix them. Plenty of people have done so in the past. I always cringe when I find them on my own. I've also gone back and added addition posts in attempts to clarify my ideas better. What I've written doesn't always translate from my thoughts to the page.
If you find issues, or lack of clarity with any of the thing I've posted, please let me know. Maybe with your diligence I'll fix them all.

You have the privilege to post whatever you want, within the forum rules. I'm not saying you can't, and neither is anyone else in the thread, as far as I can see. We are asking you to please go edit your post and press enter a few times to make the thing more readable and less painful. This isn't a right/wrong thing - you can refuse to change your post all you like. But that will severely limit the discussion you'll actually get (which is a shame, because a "powerset vs powerset" pros-and-cons discussion can be interesting, and is usually filled with good information for newer players that happen across it), as you can see by the way it's derailed this thread.
I'm not following you from thread to thread. Nor, I expect, is anyone else. The forums are just a relatively small community, and you'll tend to see the same names in threads all over the place.

Maybe the intent was noble but the method was uncalled for. I can help a lady across the street but I'm sure if I drag her by her feet, although she will get across the street, she sure as hell wont get up and be like thanks. She probably either curse me out and or sue me. Same concept. It's not about the helping part it's about the method of going about it. Plus it's not that serious to have to point out everytime a mispell happens. I doubt anyone on this forum hasnt made a spelling mistake or there is no posts here that does not contain spelling mistakes. Yet, I dont see that Rangling person for example posting on all of their posts talking about spelling and grammar and such. In most cases I dont see much of anythign of the likes from anyone. But nooooo, I made a spelling mistake he makes sure to go out of the way to point it out. And I'm suppose to take that as symbol of help?
I'd call it helpful. Someone comes along and notices you're doing something in a way that won't have the effect you might want and points out what you could do to improve your results: that's called helping.

Well, I see what you saying. Although I havent seen anyone ask anything or anything with a question mark. It came off as more like snooty snide remarks. If they would of formed the question in the first place maybe it would of went easier. Guess it was miscommunication. Wish people would be more polite about it instead of coming off as jerks. Because when that happens, of course I'ma go on defense mode. You attack I'll attack. If I say went to your thread with nothing about the content of the thread and said that "You must be an idiot or the likes" then some people would go on the defensive too. Maybethey do maybe they dont I dont know just guessing but what I do know is that I do. I dont like being attacked, even by grammar nazis especially and then it dont help when they try to turn it around and say "Oh that's what I get for helping." If they would of approached the subject much better then they gte better reaction. If they come in kicking doors in I'ma reply with a kick.

Here is the beef: your first post is painful to read. Literally, physically painful. I used the phrase "headache-inducing" for a reason. I don't think it is unreasonable to ask that you press Enter a few times to avoid causing me physical pain. You are not obligated to do so, of course, just as I am not obligated to read your thread, but it is not impolite to ask. You have the privilege to post whatever you want, within the forum rules. I'm not saying you can't, and neither is anyone else in the thread, as far as I can see. We are asking you to please go edit your post and press enter a few times to make the thing more readable and less painful. I know you aint following me. But I can name more than a few that is and post the same type of post each time over and over regardless of the information questions, or even lack of questions.
But really if they are going to correct me, they should have history of correcting people not just choosing me and lack of history of mistakes of their own before becoming a critic of someone else work. Like I may have mentioned before, I hardly see anyone one else posting about someone else spelling or pointing it out but they sure have no problem when it comes to me huh.
I think a simple question in actual asking form would of deaden this whole situation but no questions just statements and demands critics on format. As you and others said presentation is everything. They didnt come in here with the presentation of being helpful at all.

Using a quote block was the most convenient method. I did explicitly say that it was edited and not your original words, though it was your original thought (as best as I was able to decipher it).
Then it's best to say it in a non quotes format or else it's a blatent lie that I dont appreciate to say I quoted something and you edited it.

This is something I see a lot, and the problem is almost always either that what the original poster wrote was unclear and led to a spurious discussion on a tangentially related point, or that what the original poster wrote was just fine, but the readers each added their own mental tone of voice to the words. As I'm sure you know, saying the same words in different ways (varying emphasis, inflection, etc.) can carry completely different meanings. Since written text lacks that non-verbal element, we have to rely on the clarity of our words to get our meaning across.

It's a quirk of language. In cases where the gender of the subject is unknown, pronouns default to the masculine form. Nothing to do with sexism. How are we supposed to know you are female?

I bolded the part that was relevant. You make the point quite well: Nobody is talking about what you said because how you said it got in the way. This isn't English class, and you aren't being paid for what you write here, but the rules of language don't change based on the venue or the medium. In order to be understood, you have to be as clear as possible, especially on the internet. .

You aint stayed on topic. I dont think level was even mentioned in the post. I dont need anymore "oh that's impossible" "can you post proof" from you. I know how this goes. I'ma say a level that I am actually fighting at and you going to poke fun at it and say it's impossible. If someone else would of asked I would of just said I'll PM them. But you hell naw. You aint getting me with the same trap. change tactics and maybe it will work then.

English doesn't have a good gender-neutral term ("they" tends to create awkward-sounding sentences, and can be ambiguous since it sounds plural; constructs like "zir" are not widespread in general use and tend to just cause confusion). A majority, IMX, of MMO players are male, or at least do not wish to be recognized as female since it completely doesn't matter and tends to attract unwanted attention, so assuming that any given player is male unless they say otherwise is usually a pretty good assumption.
Or gender neutral term. Why cant they assume I'm female if anything?

Male privilege and etc surely plays a part too, but that's even further from the topic than the formatting thing
you are harassing me. and been so for the past week at least. Quit it.

"Evil Legacy" doesn't exactly scream femininity, and listing your high level characters is generally an achievement related thing common among males. Your online persona suggests that you're male.
A simple question instead of assuming would have sufficed. Or gender neutral term. Why cant they assume I'm female if anything?

True. If something wasnt understood a simple question would have sufficed too. Instead of coming guns blazing and straight to the critizing and nit picking part as if this was some official document that have legal bearings. ... If there was a person pointing out a mistake on every other post or even one third of the posts, then it would be no issue. But seeing lack of that and then I barely can make a post without someone playing the spelling/grammar nazi off the bat, of course I'ma go defensive and tell them to bugger off.

I have been frequenting these boards for a long time, though I seldom post, and I have seen lots of posts like yours that get criticized just like yours was. You aren't being singled out, trust me. Most of those other people have learned to post better, or have been ignored by pretty much everyone.

Well I'm not the type to hide my gender based off some other people's actions. Harassment is harassment whether it's male to female, male to male, female to male, or female to female. It's still harassment like this one poster is going a little bit beyond harassment and into stalkerish. One of those people that follow me from post to post with no helpful information to share just to cause and or add to the trouble. If want to look for yourself. Look at my past posts with replies you will see the most common person on there is that one person basically saying the same stuff in every post.

I would like to point out one more thing. What I've mentioned in my original post is a far, far, far cry from being a grammar nazi. It maybe in your mind that I am, but I've met many of them. Believe me, I don't count as one in the least. While you believe that I was one, or was being one, then you're in for a very, very rude awakening when you finally meet one.

I'm afraid the burden of understandability lies with the speaker, or in this case author, of the ideas being verbalized. You can't expect someone to take the time to read your writings if you won't take the time to make them easily readable. "Then that post wasn't meant for them" is a cheap cop-out and an excuse. You're capable of better than that. There was insight and thoughtfulness in your original post that was completely missed because people have a hard time reading a wall of text. .
