Tanks vs Brutes

Indeed, this is accurate.

The new IO changes, while super-awesome and I LOVE THEM, have the side effect of making this worse.

Bonus resistance from IO's is a flat bonus to all AT's. This means that the added resistance improves brutes more than any other AT. Reasoning: Brutes have high caps but low power mods. A flat bonus helps them more than any other AT, because they need bonuses to excel, and can accept more bonuses than anyone else.

I have a claws/inv brute that is...incredible. Love it, devs, love it!

Tanks need something, scraps need something. Stalkers and blasters have been re-tooled to give them a lot of added viability. But there's no reason to play any aggro-holding melee toon aside from a brute right now.

Brutes are better.

Now, there is a huge threadful of tanker improvement ideas stickied in the tanker forum, I'm hoping the Dev's will examine that and give the other two melee archetypes something.

Increasing Tanker damage output to narrow the gap between them and the other melee ATs - of which we currently have two too many - is less invasive than lowering the damage of three other ATs. Or even one.

Tankers are not broken. They're superfluous. That's almost worse.
Again, I don't think Tankers necessarily need more damage.

-They need higher damage caps to bring them in line with Brutes.
-They need something that makes them more like the powerhouse badasses they are in comics.
-They need something to woo the majority of players, for which aggro control and being a low damage decoy isn't enough of an incentive to play Tankers.
-They need something that improves how multiple Tankers stack.
-They need a massive image makeover.

Out of all of this, there are 2 things I can agree with to some degree, one you didn't list is that changing brutes helps tankers in no way what so ever, if that is indeed your position.

The other is changing how multiple tanks affect a team.

Image I don't think is an issue...as tanks are well thought of in game, especially among casual PuGs where people still necessitate that role with a lack of IOs.

Appealing to a majority of players is something I think is going to be hard without being OP'ed simply because there are a lot of people who don't think they want to play an AT that has the sole role of being selfless in a group...with few exceptions.

As far as being BA like in comics...those are hyperbole situations...in reality you can't expect an invuln tank to rival colossus or something of that magnitude...it would make the game moot for other ATs...everyone would be a tank. It's the same as if Blasters could be made to become the Silver Surfer...how would anyone play any other AT if they could be so powerful that they could almost singlehandedly overcome the most powerful galactic beings in existence?

Currently Playing:
Rage King - SS/Regen Brute (50+3)
Soulfire Darkness - Dark/Fire Tank (50+2)
Deaths Final Embrace - Kat/Dark Brute (50+3)

Totally agree. Not everyone does.. I know I have many alts without it....

But. How do you know nobody on the 16 man team had it? Are Incarnate powers listed on peoples Bios now? Last I checked they weren't... Or are you really in the habit of asking everyone on a league what their Incarnate power choices are? Even if so, how can you rule out the possibility that you get purely honest and correct feedback. I often don't recall what I have on many of my 50s, so...

Well cant control dishonest people. But usually when an iTrial starts there is always one person asking who has it. On average 16 man squad, I see many about two or three pipe up. Some may be hiding it true, but until there is proof, got to assume they are telling the truth. If no one answers then it must be assumed no one has it. And if they not using it on the trial, then it shouldnt be counted anyways.
