DFB and contacts
They do. At 10 you get contacted by Montague Castanella and.. I think the university director?
At 20 you get contacted by Mistress Maria and a couple of the other Talos contacts.
At 30 Archmage Hellewise pokes you.
So, yeah. You get told about other contacts kind frequently.
That's just scratching the surface - keep in mind that there are at least five introduceable contacts at each five levels that you don't get notified of, starting at Lv5, and at Lv10 and above, each of them has a story arc of their own as well.
It would help.
I've nearly facepalmed myself into oblivion when recruiting for a Positron TF.
I ask people if they're interested in a Posi TF and get some responses. I invite interested people to team and tell them to meet in Steel Canyon.
4 (FOUR) of them respond with: "Where's that?"
I check my team's levels......and all of them are above level 30. Guess how they got there?

Or possibly DFB/DiB
I guess the real AE Babies wouldn't stop till 50.

How about the reverse? A starting contact that tells about DFB just in case new people don't know about it?
Hehe funny, there's a level 30 currently recruiting for DFB as I'm playing now.
I've seen people advertise they are a "Professional" sewer team and you should join.
Random thought: who cares how folks level up if they are playing and having fun?
We all have the option to quit a team if they all perform like "leroy jenkins" copy cats, or show that they can't play their powersets/AT.
Not seeing the issue here.

I mean, each powerset is so completely different from one another.

So no easy access info is really required.

I don't mind answering questions and helping people, but it gets REALLY old telling people things they should have figured out by accident by level 30. Repeatedly.
It is also aggravating dealing with players who do things like run into the next room and taunt a mob while playing a brute with only one power from their secondary. And then they either drag that mob back to the team that isn't ready for them, or die in that room and complain that the healer didn't follow them (even if there is no healer on the team).
I am aware that I have the option to quit or kick people, and I exercise both on occasion. It just bugs me that I feel the need to because necessity of doing either is avoidable. It's not a new issue by any means, it just seems to be more common now that DFB exists.
I'm of the opinion that DFB, the way it was implemented, was a mistake. It should have a cut-off point beyond which you cannot use it for easy leveling. Veteran players use it to get past the early levels, but how many of them use it to get all the way to 50? New players frequently get to level 50 without ever leaving Atlas Park, and it's worse than AE missions because they never learn how their powers acquired past level 10 work.
Now, do I rage against people repeatedly running DFBs in-game? Not at all, I let them do their thing. But when I team with those people it irritates me when they do things they should have learned not to a long time ago (in leveling terms).

The purpose of the DFB/DIB is to keep experienced players from having to run the same content over and over and over again when they roll an alt.

The purpose of DFB is to replace AE's powerleveling. Obvious because of the nerfs they've done with AE.
Funny. DFB brought me back to the game permanently during a double XP weekend after not playing for over a year (along with the new/earlier travel powers). It's a dual-edged sword and for experienced players tired of hovering around The Hollows for hours just testing out a new AT it was a welcomed QoL change. I see the cons of it, too. But I'm generally not shy about helping people out early on if I find out they're new. Most of my active "friends" are just people new to CoH.
I don't agree.

Because the devs do not like power leveling.
THAT is why AE gets nerfed.
There used to be 5 contacts to get from level 1 to level 6-ish. Now there is only one.
DFB is a recognition by the devs of the sewer teams that used to form in AP that would get a lowbie character from 1 to 8 in an hour or so. And also so we can use the DFB to get us most of the way to Talos (level 20ish) rather than run the same two contacts to get us to Steel and then run Radio mishs to get an actual contact, etc, etc.

Then why can't you use DFB to get all the way to 50 quickly?

I'm sure people get to 50 in DFB.

Because the fun stops when they hop off their easy ride and suddenly have this whole other game to play that they have no idea how to handle.

I don't care at all.....until it leads to them playing in such a way on my team that makes the game less fun for me.

I see no problem with using the kick/quit button daily. Life is waaay too short to get upset about something that isn't going to change anytime soon.
I don't agree that there should be any limits on dev-sanctioned content. AE, whack at it all you want.

Random thought brought on by a comment how some newcomers run DFB repeatedly without finding about contacts;
Have a completed DFB throw a new contact window of the kind you get from other contacts? That might give the newbies a hint in the "hey, look, other content!" direction.
Thoughts?
