How did Bio get nerfed?

I just want to point out that this isn't a logical line of reasoning. If I turn on Defensive, it's to survive. If the need to kill faster is required, then Defensive isn't enough to begin with.

For example, the video I posted shows my tank surviving. Period. He wasn't even attacking. Not even the aura was on. He did not need a team to kill them faster to do so.

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

If you need to switch to Defensive to survive, it's because incoming damage is too much for the other adaptations (probably due to getting shot by too many Assault Rifles and needing both more resistance and the heal procs). If it happens on a team, that means you're not receiving outside buffs and likely want the rest of your team which is presumably attacking and not doorsitting to actually do something about the mobs around you.

But I also think that Burn is a great defensive power for my SS/FA because the initial burst (usually after Footstomp) means I rarely deal with anything smaller than a Lt. I definitely have to heal a lot less when I use it frequently.

Or you could be taking on more than you should be. While I think Defensive is great, like any other set it has limits. A -res debuff has nothing to do with any of that.

Since this has mostly turned into the two of us going back and forth and we both said we don't agree with the other's opinion, how about we just take any further discussion to PMs and let the thread go for people who want to talk about past nerfs rather than discussing whether or not a new one should happen? Because while I tried to give an answer, I don't have the numbers to quantify exactly what the changes were and that seemed to be what was asked.

I've stated my case about the -res being unique offering for an armor set and offense being a good defense already. We seem to just be talking past each other at this point rather than communicating.

So, only one person is responsible for suggesting "balance changes" on beta? Surely the Devs listen to more voices than just one. At least i hope so! I would hate to think all it takes is one person. Considering those of us that do not participate in Beta have to rely on other players and The Devs to Test these sets.

No, and I honestly do not think that was implied and certainly not stated in this thread.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

We all know they only listen to Arcanaville. For everything else, they just roll dice.

I see, apologies then looking back to the begining of the thread i see that Bio-Armor was not the only thing to get -Adjusted-

Thank all of you in beta for helping to give us the best set ever!

Did you miss the TPN thread? I'd kill to be a Praetorian citizen just throwing rocks.

I quite like Bio. Very very much indeed. It is regen/dark 2.0. Fricking fantastic. I think some of the complaints about survivability probably stem from trying to shove a square peg into a round hole.

Just Feldspar, it's totally broken.

This is what it was before it was nerfed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93OJLMFmqY4

I will say there was a lot of different reviews of it. Some said, as Rylas that they were soloing +2x6 with common IOs and some of us were using IO sets and couldn't even solo +1x3 mobs.

Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.

I didn't just say it. I showed it with a video. Which took place after the nerfs you bemoaned. If I can do it on just common IOs and you can't on IO sets, I'm not sure it's an issue with the set.

Also, didn't someone in the beta forums already point out that you decided to use a video on Bio in Offensive mode to prove how it "actually was"?

Thanks-
You cant nerf something that isnt even a final build or even live yet.. Seriously..

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

You can if it's overpowered. Like Bio was. Now it's just about right.

I think it was a semantics issue; that since it was never finalized and released to live no change can be a "nerf" because they're just adjusting the values before "the public" ever gets to see it.

The problem with that logic is that the public can see it (due to ongoing open beta for VIPs), and can see that in many cases it was nerfed.

The important thing - the very important thing - about the word use of nerf is to never ever give up on the sense of petulant entitlement and hyperbole inherent in the word.

Or the snarky, self-important arrogance and holier-than-thou responses that using it engenders in others apparently.

"A significant reduction in power or effectiveness" is summarized by four letters fairly effectively without needing to tack on additional characterizations.
