Light or Holy power set....
Re: customization
My "light blaster" gets good results out of psi blast.
Re: lore police
Angel peacebringers don't break the lore. Kheldians are angels, in the same way midi-chlorians are the force. Take a perfectly good mythology and trash it with bad, unnecessary sci-fi. The fact that half of Kheldians are fallen into darkness and possess people is a clue-by-four. Angel peacebringers simply omit the bad, unnecessary sci-fi part of the lore; they're still metaphysical entities from a faraway place, with an involvement in an ongoing struggle of cosmic scale, and powers of transfiguration.
Re: copyright police
Can't copyright ideas in the U.S. Can't infringe a copyright that doesn't exist. Besides, the idea of supernatural wind powers predates every person here and every work so far discussed. Indeed, for much of human history, supernatural explanations were the only explanations for the wind.
I'm waiting for Carp Melee. We have Bio Armor, why not Carp melee!
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.
The point is, light blasting is already in the game. Full stop. The clue is in the name: Luminous Blast. Discussion of specific animations is a completely different, unrelated topic. [/i]

Peacebringers are pretty damn specific and kind of not too popular anyway so any conceptual overlap with a Light Blast set is fully acceptable. Dark powers already were in the game and yet Umbral Blast was made.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing a blast set that wasn't something launched from your hand. Like you summon beams of light from the sky, chunks of earth from the ground, furious winds to overcome your opponent, etc. Ranged damage doesn't have to mean "Shoots out of the hand." So if they did that with a light-based set, that'd be okay in my book.

These days, if you want a new attack set, you need a gimmick. There isn't much difference between Ice and Water blast - apart from the tidal gimmick.
If you can come up with an interesting gimmick, attach the word "holy" to it, and post it too the suggestions forum.
I really should do something about this signature.
Luminous Blast proliferation?
1. Gleaming Bolt
2. Glinting Eye
3. Gleaming Blast
4. Proton Scatter
5. Aim
6. Luminous Detonation
7. Solar Flare
8. Photon Seekers
9. Dawn Strike
Heck, they could even charge 400 points for that on the market.
Or just add alternative graphics for existing sets...

The set is split into buff/heal and Debuff powers which build Sun or Moon charges, then the tier 8 and 9 powers consume the charges for a big effect, of the opposite type from the charges built for it. (Using your buff powers builds charge for an offensive effect, where using your debuff powers build charge for a defensive effect.)
Lots and lots of AoE, crappy single target (assuming current dmg/rech). I'd like it, but doubt we'll ever see it because it detracts from the PB archetype (Sure Dark/Umbral has considerable overlap, but this would be direct access to the epic AT's powers, while not limited to the specific themes and mechanics of that AT.)
It's not a proliferation problem, it's a Kheldian problem. SoA share powers with other archetypes, they're doing fine.
Wind blast would be great!
Copyright infringement isn't a real problem. The game already handles stuff like this by deleting the offending characters, due to stuff like wolverine claws and a storm set existing.
Light blast with solid lasers would be cool as well.
I'd say that, while it would be nice to see a kind of Holy based power set, power customisation leads to a variety of interpretations on how divine powers could work.
Personally, I have 4 versions of the same character that uses a divine source. 3 of them have their powers recoloured into a bluish-white and passed off as divine, and the 4th, as Reppu so lovingly puts it, is a Pure Human Peacebringer build that apparently smacks the Lore across the chops, though I doubt it'd be worth getting into that debate here.
The same works for any power set and theme you have in mind. Dark Fire, Spectral Energy, the list goes on. Unless the Devs add a new 'Divine' damage type, I doubt it might come to fruition, as so many other power sets do so much as is.
The Incarnate Content also provides some kind of divine aspect, though, I've seen a fair few people play the powers off as some other source, not wanting to be tied to the Well and stuff.
That's just my two cents, but as much as it would work for my character, I kind of don't want to see this powerset, as I can't say I'd be pleased with a 5th version of the guy >.>
I think we will eventually see light blast and light manipulation. It even has a cool mechanic built into it.. prism. Different lights having different effects sort of like Brent Weeks' Black Prism novel (awesome book by the way). Perhaps even something like a mix of the Combo system from Street Justice and the swap ammo of utility of duel pistols.
Start off with primary colors red/yellow/blue, mix them into combination colors and effects. A Red attack followed by a yellow attack makes an orange light finisher that has a mixture of red and yellow effects or damage types ect.
Lots of concepts that can be played with using Light that don't really fall into the energy or radiation areas.

I see a bunch of DnD style wizards who have mastered the spell Colour Spray. Kinda sounds awesome.
Is the OP talking about copying that set from CO? The one where it hurts enemies and heals players?
Also, let's not bend (ahem) to the fans of Avatar over everything. I wouldn't be against a wind set but come on, can you imagine the copyright infringements popping up everywhere? It happens enough as it is, but this would be begging for it. ...I've never seen a single episode simply because the fan behavior irks me, much like most anime due to otakus. |
Stand UP.
FIGHT BACK!
Bonus points if the enemy "hit" animation or a hold in the set is the "spin in the air with head lowered and arms sagging" effect that begins Resurrection and Rise of the Phoenix.
