Quote:What? I haven't seen a single Defender with Luminous Blast! When did they add this??The point is, light blasting is already in the game. Full stop. The clue is in the name: Luminous Blast. Discussion of specific animations is a completely different, unrelated topic. [/i]
Peacebringers are pretty damn specific and kind of not too popular anyway so any conceptual overlap with a Light Blast set is fully acceptable. Dark powers already were in the game and yet Umbral Blast was made. -

Quote:Obviously it's because Cognitive and Degenerative are meant to appeal to players of controlling and supporting classes and thus it would be overpowered if they were given equally good damage as the option meant to appeal to more strictly offensive archetypes.According to Dictionary.com it is. O-:
EDIT:
So hey, I was looking at the Media Blitz patch notes, and apparently Cognitive and Degenerative received a 60% boost to their damage in that update. Their current scale is 0.1, where the other Interface procs are 0.125, so for a 60% boost to have taken place, they would have had to do scale 0.0625 damage.
Because... because why, exactly? Why would Fire do 0.125 and be coupled with a -Resist proc, but the Psionic and Toxic do 0.0625? Figure that one out.
ALTERNATIVELY
it is because giving Brutes access to crowd control would be overpowered. -

So, uh, has any face actually been removed and not just renamed? I remember the old CoH Face 1 and I'm pretty sure it's still around, just bumped up in the list. I don't get the fixation with "Face 1" specifically.

Quote:I think people like Ghost Widow because she is a redside contact that genuinely appreciates your efforts. Most others are jerks. She is by contrast a very nice person. For a vengeful spirit, anyway.I get these points. I do. When I said I didn't get the mystique, I guess I meant to say that viscerally, the character or her appearance has never really had an effect on me. It all makes sense to me intellectually. And I'm no stranger to lusty, romantic attractions to a variety of subcultures, emo and goth included, but GW has just never floated any boat I've rowed. Nor has her backstory piqued my imagination.

I bought the whole pack because I had use for all pieces. I would have liked it if the hat, the collar, the long skirt and the back piece the Death Mages have were also included. A thorny belt would've been great, too. That would've made the pack great value instead of just slightly better value than buying the pieces individually. It would've sucked to wait for those pieces to be reconfigured for women and huge bodies but I would've dealt with it.

Quote:You can be both sexy and strong, yes, but the male model isn't baseline very physically fit with the purpose of appearing sexy. The male avatars appearing strong, and the list of sexualised aesthetics they also posses, are not entirely prerequisites of one another.
Heh. -
The men aren't as sexualised as the women because the male models is strong. It's imposing, impressive and highly practical for a fighter. It's a tough guy. The female model isn't strong. It's got large breasts as default and no way of not having a tremendous butt.

Quote:That would rob the game's different representations of men and women of any context, though. You can't simply divorce depictions of gender in media from the expression of gender in our cultures. If the game consistently portrays women as primarily attractive and men as primarily capable then it follows the social attitude that women must primarily be attractive to men. Those who don't want half of the population subservient to the other will ask for men and women to be represented equally as cool and capable, citing the reinforcing effects the game would otherwise have on one of the worst parts of the social climate as our reason.I think it would be prudent to limit this debate and not suggest broader soical issues.
Because, like, that is the point of a superhero game. Playing a person of superhuman ability. Someone who is superpowered, not super sexy. If you want something to get off to there's a million other places. Getting it out there that nobody has to be hot to be a role model or take place in the spotlight is a necessary goal if we want to have a decent society to live in. Having entertainment that helps with this is important because people do form an understanding of themselves and others through what they like to read and do. -
The test itself isn't a big deal. It was just what one woman used to decide whether she would watch a film or not. A film that passes it isn't necessarily good or anything. The point of it was that so few films actually passed.
But you shouldn't. You shouldn't see men making more skimpy outfits for women than women would. That you do see this, though, is evidence of a culture that has sexual attractiveness in the eyes of straight men as an integral part of being "a woman". -
You could go with a Fire Blast/Cold Domination Corruptor. As far as having both fire and ice powers go, this is one of the more sensible ways because the power sets do what you expect those elements to do. Plus you can pretend to be a stereotypical fantasy game mage.

The only thing I'm really looking forward to is seeing what the CoT costumes will be like. Street Justice would be neat and all, I would make an Ice Armour Tank to go with it, but I don't got a name and the CoT stuff could be useful for an already existing character. No contest, really.

I think I can say with some confidence that there will be very little content you can do if it has to make sense from the point of view of a being incapable of communication outside of, perhaps, sign language or writing notes.
Maybe there's a contact or two that are psychic. There's always Psimon Omega but he's redside and only in the 30-34 range. You're going to have to keep the whole lack of communication thing to backstory, player interactions and tabletop RPGs. -
I would dearly love it if there were alternative effects for things like Blazing Aura etc that didn't involve having a pulsing circle around our feet. I think it's a pretty obnoxious effect, all in all, and would much prefer having just the egg shape pulsing from the body.
I want to be a flaming death egg, not walking around on a blazing doom frisbee. -
Quote:That would actually be completely excellent. How about if she gave out repeatable missions where you show up at charity events. No XP, but double inf. Content? A couple of talk-to convos (maybe they can go towards your 5 a day morality missions?) then putting on a staged fight for entertainment against some badly costumed AV look-a-likes.
Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes and gives you an inf boost, could be useful for lowbies who need an inf injection for DOs, especially considering how it's going F2P, lots of new players! -
It'd be cool to have flight auras. They're like combat auras only they turn on when you fly. As part of this you could just remove the FX for the current flight powers, as far as is appropriate.
Atomic Aura when flying would be pretty boss, you gotta admit. -
The difference between poison and venom is quite clear. One is a pink-haired MTF, the other is a super villain.

I want to make a Plant/Storm Controller who is a wizard of sorts and I kinda have a costume. But. BUT. I am drawing a total blank on what name I want. SUCH ANGUISH.

Well, what can we say? Ouroboros has been busy.

Quote:I mean "interesting" in the sense of the Fallen having a neat dagger or a fire blast. Very simple stuff but more flavourful than just a shotgun.I disagree. Skulls and Hellions stop spawning past level 10 almost entirely, and the rest of the factions gain super powers at levels 11 and above. There's no reason that I can see to make the lowest of low-level enemies any more "interesting." These are the levels where people are first getting to grips with the controls, the powers system and the enemy AI. We shouldn't be throwing "interesting" enemies at them until they're ready to handle that.

Yes, of course there could be more use of the mutually exclusive powers tech from the VEATs. I hadn't thought about that. Your idea could work.
The thing I dislike about an EAT that does weapons instead of adding a challenge to unlock things for weapon-based ATs is that you don't add anything to existing characters. Giving characters people already have something new to do is every bit as important as adding things to do with new characters. There might also be too much blurring between the weapon set ATs and the hypothetical Weapon Master EAT.
Either way I'd start a new character for it despite not having cared much for the weapon sets before. I'd just prefer the approach that adds to existing characters instead of competing with them. -
Of course, they aren't called Shiny Blue Peacebringers and Spooky Purple Warshades, very much unlike the Green Lantern Corps which bases its identity around being green. Some Peacebringer having a yellow base to its powers would be no problem at all. NPC groups wouldn't change and you wouldn't have to change colour if you didn't want to.

Other than being weak, Hellions and Skulls are super boring. The Gunner and Buckshot duties could easily be handed to minions while the Lts get some proper powers. Something that makes them interesting. The Trolls and the Outcasts could do with some sprucing up, too, but they at least have decent Lts and some variety of bosses.
