Maybe we can convince the devs to change defiance *again* and defiance 3.0 gives a small damage buff AND a small to hit buff for blasting.

H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50

No, I'm quite happy with the changes. My AR/Dev will be getting a third ST attack that kicks like a horse. 5 slotted Gaussian (bloody hell that rech/end is hard to find) in TD puts him at 20.91% tohit (with mid-20's IO's) so a couple swaps and he'll be fine. My DP/MM will get a whole lotta nothing, but doesn't really need anything.

This makes me sad. Gaussian has an awesome 6-slot bonus, can't you find one more slot?

I have the slot with an End Red IO. I just can't get the Rech/End IO anywhere. Thinking I'll use some converters on my 'every kill drops an enhancement converter' character to try to get one.

Is what I suggested up thread a little that got completely overlooked during some back and forth between a few posters.

I saw it, Angelius. The idea's been mentioned by at least three people now.

It may place some limits on manipulation balancing, but I don't think the situation is all that analogous. The amount of sustain we're getting is closer to what the devs feel compelled to add, not the maximum amount we could credibly get. And that means sustain doesn't really reduce the options for buffing manipulation sets by more than a small amount.

For example, I would feel perfectly comfortable asking the devs to buff Frozen Aura to not be ridiculous. I would be genuinely surprised to hear them say that they'd like to, but they'd have to nerf Frigid Protection if they do. The manipulation sets have enormous room for improvement and I don't think sustain took even a third of the room available to buff them, particularly on the damage and offensive mitigation side of the fence.

Okay, this is bugging me.

Does TD give Sniper Rifle a damage bonus? TD's in game description says yes. Mids says yes. Another poster said no. Since TD's numbers don't list it, I can't really figure it out without respeccing to pick up sniper rifle (which I'll be doing, just don't want to do it now).

sorry but this is a crap nothing bonus.(yes its better than nothing)

however for the amount of work it takes to do this why not fix this AT this is not a fix this is an appeasement.

I would very much like to see a tanker putting out twice as much damage as a blaster.

What kind of build/combo do you use?

Well, either they're going to give the "right" amount of sustain, which means that Blasters will still be below par, or they'll give them too much sustain, which means that Blasters will be "good enough" and then they can't balance the sets without nerfing those powers. I fear they're going to put themselves in between a rock and a hard place when I24 beta comes around, in that if they choose the first option, there'll be too much complaining about the powers not being strong enough, driving them closer to the second option.

Agreed with Arcana, the changes i'd request for the secondaries probably have little to no bearing on the sustain mechanic. I wouldn't go asking for +def or something in manipulation sets but it would be weird if asking for some adjustments to the melee mezzes were turned down because the sustain was to strong. No you can't ask for the world, but stuff within the sets function should be fine.

Well, when I brought it up in this thread, I had expanded it from someone elses idea of solely having it based off stacks of Defiance as it is now, while other were saying the +ToHit threshold should be lowered. I just kinda combined the 2 ideas and hadn't seen anyone else do it.

While I definitely have some concerns with these changes, I can't help but be giddy at how game-changing this is going to be for ranged blast classes.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

My fire/time corruptor is going from broken to plaid. If it was marginal to pick a blaster for teams before its now pretty dang black and white.

Is it enough of a DPS increase to make up for Time's lackluster -Regen?

I don't think buffs are fungible in the way you're implying. I think whether or not we have too little, too much, or just enough sustain will have little impact on whether or not Frozen Aura can have more damage (or any damage) or Fire Manipulation gets more utility. Only when things get egregious do I think the devs start thinking that way. But for remotely reasonable levels of sustain I don't think having high sustain "steals" away opportunities for other buffs.

Specifically, I don't think the devs look at Ice Manipulation and say "Ice is weak, we can buff Frigid Protection or we can buff Shiver, but we can't do both."

I have never really felt pain from times -regen its pretty easy to stack 3 or 4 time crawls on a target if you are on a team.
