I had intended to try to watch this during lunch today but had a Tech Dept meeting scheduled for 10:30 Central.

I got waylaid with a surprise at the meeting and then we all went to lunch together.

Couldn't get out of it.

I found the video stream a lot less choppy than the Ustream one and I must say, Water Blast looked fun

I wasn't home to watch this live, and I can't see a recording of it listed on the Twitch page or on the YouTube channel.

With uStream even the recordings were choppy and nearly unwatchable for me.

With Twitch.TV it played so smoothly that I would have thought I was in the room with you.

I'm going to try again next week to catch the Live show and join you to see how it goes. Now that I know that the iPad app is apparently deficient in a few areas (chat) I'll just do it from my Desktop. I may have the app open as well to see if there is a problem with multiple streams here, but I'll wait until I've tested it on just the Desktop first to make sure that's not causing other problems.

The first show seems to have gone rather well after you turned the audio on and figured out some of the minor tweaks you needed to make.

Let's hope the rest of the shows go as well or better.

This certainly seem to take the coffee talk to the next level - and the only negative that I could see - the archive only going back 2 weeks - doesn't really matter as you're going to store them on the YouTube channel too.
I don't really count the lack of a question emoticon as a negative - the skull works just as well

One of the things we've requested is a "Q" emoticon

Request a QQ one too - it'd make is much easier and quicker to complain in chat about something that way.

I tuned in about the middle of this week's show. I found the video quality (watching on my PC) to be much better. Fired it up full screen, which I never did with good results on Ustream, and enjoyed the Water Blast demonstration. So far, I think the switch to Twitch was a good decision.

By the way, because it's not intuitively obvious since the Info tab is selected by default, I created a picture to show you where to find videos recorded in the past. Here you go!

Just two points real quick...I haven't seen all of the video from yesterday but...


1.) The audio and video were not synchronized perfectly on my end...I could tell it was off by just a bit.

2.) Zwill started out a Coffee talk without a hat? (yes I fast forwarded to when he had a hat on at the very end)....

In the process of the talk yesterday, I went from "This sucks why did they change" to "I see the advantages of it, it's probably a plus, but they need to improve the iPad client"

I'm probably not the normal viewer - I watch these on the iPad so I can send them to my TV with AppleTV and AirPlay (you look good on the big screen, Z). So the app issues may not be as key for others, but here's the big issues with the app that hopefully they can fix.

#1. For most of the talk, I thought it didn't do chat. Turns out you have to switch it to portrait/vertical mode instead of landscape/horizontal. I keep my iPad locked into landscape all the time, and it's lousy design to lock it into one orientation, but the unforgivable design is that there's nothing in landscape mode that says "hey, rotate this for more features". I hate bad design.

#2. A channel that isn't broadcasting doesn't exist. Searching for Paragon, Paragon Studios, City of Heroes finds nothing. On the website, the direct link you provided let me go to it and follow it, but going to the list of channels you are following shows nothing if it isn't broadcasting at that moment. Clearly, current channels should be given preferential treatment in search results, but there are reasons to look up channels that are currently offline. Say, to watch a video that already happened.

I will give them a tip of the hat for one nice feature - when you went live, there was both an email alert and an app alert that you'd started.

And, the stability of the stream and quality was significantly higher, the demo was clear and enjoyable, and the lack of ads was nice. I can see why the switch and I'm looking forward to future versions. I just hope that the app team at Twitch gets their act together.

Oh, and case sensitive emotes? In 2012? REALLY?

Watching the replay yesterday I was a bit disappointed in the lack of tangents.
