BAH, British spellings and crazy *** pronunciations.

This is very sad.

The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

Eesh. I've seen your horror stories. Not all retail is like that, but I imagine that your sort of business gets more crazies than most.

Though honestly, now I'm realizing that there's no way I'd want to read the developers' inboxes. With the kind of crazy pancakes that get openly posted on the forum, I'm wondering how much insanity goes straight into PMs? Anonymity is a terrible, terrible privilege sometimes.

I just said my piece and promptly went about my business, while you have to come back and complain complain complain about "imaginary anger".
You just invent a reason to complain, which is much worse than just a simple "this is disappointing" post.

Hell, I just complained about you complaining. LOL

That's it for me on this topic. Either they give a bit better thing next time or we don't even bother checking after a month of "next to nothing".
Game developers never learn. You can't give too good of an incentive or too little because players will tire of both and end up pushed farther away from whatever the developers want them interested in than they were before the incentive was added.

They need to give something a little better than "a single one of their cheapest and most unfulfilling consumables", but not something too good.
(Edit: How does Firefox not know that "unfulfilling" is a word when it knows of "unfulfilled"?)

Another hilarious post from the complaints department Notice how this one tries to paint other people as the bad guys, Denying that he's complaining while still making a complaint and turning a general observation into a personal attack?

Too funny.

Yes, I see it and you are spot on for pointing these things out.

A blatant lie? Hardly. Maybe too general in the time frame, but if we're going to be that specific then the truth is, it happens many times every second. Too often for me to guesstimate. And I'm basing that opinion on my years of experience working CS in various call centers.

Laughing about it and trying to share the humor is healthier than getting stressed out.

Shared pain is lessened, shared joy increased.

This is also true to some extent, Some places/people rarely get nutters while others are nutter magnets. (see Psychoti for example)

Very true, but how hard is it to add someone to your ignore list? We already know at least one of the devs has admitted that he made use of the ignore tool on those kinds of PM's. So there's probably others doing it as well that are more diplomatic and don't admit it.

Unless of course the shared pain is something you disagree with...then its a terrible thing to even bring up and the poster should be drawn and quartered...

Amazing how you spin things.

Yeah being offered a free gift to use in a video game is a terrible thing. Curse the devs for being black hearted villains.

Oh and where exactly did I imply any sort of physical harm should befall people that don't like Freebie Fridays? Please quote it.

The only spin being put on this feature is being done by the ones that don't like how Freebie Friday work.

People are free to believe whatever they like and post about it. Just don't expect the rest of us to keep a straight face.

I feel like the "complainers" are trying to stiff-arm the devs into "MAKE IT SOMETHING GOOD OR ELSE!!!". I'm with many others who say that if it's free, I'll say a huge thanks, accept it, and go about my day. On some character somewhere along the line maybe I'll use it! Maybe I won't...but either way, free is free and I'm thankful.

Some people will never be happy.

Having been in the classroom as a teacher for going on 14 years now, I can tell you that you catch more flies with honey! Their response to "THIS SUX", "GIMME BETTER", and "I'M NEVER CHECKING FREEBIE FRIDAY AGAIN" may possibly be that they tried and and will just remove it. Alternatively, if they see the player base is checking in and grabbing their freebies they may be more inclined to throw us something a bit more valuable at times down the line.

If they had started with the elitest, uberist, most bestest Freebie Friday item, they would have nowhere to go but down...imagine the player base reactions if THAT were to happen! Starting with something like an XP Booster gives me hope that these Freebie Friday items are going to be great! An XP Booster, while not an ATO or whatever else people feel is 'valuable', IS useful. *Sure, people will have varying opinions on how useful they are*. If they had given out a cup of coffee, many would have been stoked!! I'm not a coffee drinker, so it wouldn't have been an ideal item for me, but that doesn't mean it's not useful to a huge percentage of others.

I definitely appreciate Freebie Friday and look forward to next week!!

"Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the most 'ironic' of them all?"

I could not resist.
FYI, I didn't take it as a personal attack, but it does look like you made a personal attack now that I review it. Interesting how you started the whole off-topic attack roundabout and blame it on others.

Edit:
All I said was I was unimpressed and disappointed, not "give me something better NOW" or even any angry insults. I just said it does not look like it will accomplish the goal they created the program to accomplish.
That's perfectly civil and apt, unlike the "complainers complaining about complaints" which are completely pointless and nothing more than "grumpy old man" syndrome.

Honestly for all your complaints against negative comments, I have seen a lot more negative comments, especially snarky "general attacks", from you Forbin_Project.
When do you ever post a single neutral or positive thing that stays on topic without attacking others for no reason?

That is the last I'm saying about that, no matter how much you will inevitably attempt to goad me into more.

I'm sorry but who is "we?" If next week is an insp..and the next week is another xp booster...and then and insp..etc.. I would continue to look every week and claim my freebie. So I am sorry to say I am not part of your "we." Heck it could be 100 inf and I would be happy...because it's FREE. I don't need something that is completely free and takes mere seconds to claim to be anything big...guess I was raised differently than some people; because a gift to me is a gift.

If it were an inspiration, I probably wouldn't claim it, even if it were a bundle. I have a pile of dual and team inspirations in my inbox that I never claim, because I don't strategically use insps very often - I either ignore them for hours on end, or randomly consume them by the handful as quickly as they drop (usually when doing something that I know is more difficult than I should be attempting).

There may be other instances where I wouldn't claim the freebie because I'd never use it, but I'd never complain about what it was. So add me to the "not-we" list too.

I must think differently when it comes to free things given to me. Even if it was an inspiration, and it would inspiration number 40,000, I'd still tip my hat off to Paragon marketing, claim said inspiration, head over to Atlas, check the info on some of the lower levels players, especially if it was a brand new player and drop it on him/her. There, a new player gets a double freebie.

NCSOFT may take away our servers and beloved dev team, but they can't break our spirit and community. with all your power, NCSOFT, your victory will be bitter-sweet. I, personally will be there to laugh at you when you face-plant into the ground.

The inspirations available via the market are non-tradeable.

Unless you read the forums - which I read is something like 10% of the player base - you got nothing, zero, zilch on Freebie Friday. Which means that 90% of CoX players missed out on their Freebie, unless they happened to access the market on that day, hardly something for nothing for everyone is it?

If they are going to do this sort of thing regular they should really email 'all' account holders or find some other way of letting players know. That is only fair don't you think?

There is always a lot to be thankful for, if you take the time to look. For example, I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt. ~Author Unknown

It would be more random if they just gave out 1 free Super Pack each Friday, and that Super Pack would contain all possible prizes from all existing Super Packs.

Then players would feel something from it, and experience the gamble of flipping cards and getting 5 different things, then feel determined to flip some more. Same way it would be if anyone who entered a casino were given 1 free roll and they actually won something, something small.

I don't mind the freebie they gave us, I don't even care about it. Why? Because I flipped some cards and got hooked enough to flips LOTS more, making the small market items such as XP boosters fill my email.

PS It was advertised on the front page, guy above me.

This was a test run of freebie friday, so that's why they said virtually nothing about it.

I can't imagine the percentage of players that regularly checks the website is even as big as those that frequent the forums. They usually send out emails when announcing something they want people to know about (although, whoever they have send out the email royally sucks at it... I've gotten notices for 'loyalty programs' after the start time had long since passed!).

I'm sure they'll actually make a big announcement, send out emails, and maybe even do a gmotd in-game once they decide to seriously do it.

Ah! sorry my bad! - I thought it was going to be a regular thing.

And...I miss most stuff on the front page of game launcher as my puter is that fast I'm on and logged in before I take a breath and never see the front page. I pick up most stuff from the announcement page here. Can't remember the last time I got anything CoX related via my email inbox.

It was on the Launcher, and that's as close to in-game as the message can be without having a GMOTD pop-up.
