Discussion: Take the 2012 Freedom Player Summit Survey!
Okay. Since this is a feedback thread I thought I'd mention something that I'd like to see that isn't on the survey.
More Blaster secondaries. Specifically a "Natural" secondary that isn't Devices. Maybe something that uses some of the powers or animations from Martial Arts and/or Street Justice (without the combo mechanic obviously) that could cover the melee/PBAoE powers generally provided with the Manipulation sets with a little Devices and/or Traps thrown in for utility.
Something along the lines of:
1. Web Grenade
2. Thunder Kick/Initial Strike
3. Caltrops? (not sure what to put here, maybe something new even)
4. Cobra Strike/Storm Kick/Heavy Blow
5. Build Up/Focus Chi
6. Dragon's Tail/Spinning Strike
7. Acid Mortar/Smoke Grenade
8. Center (a variation on the +End powers in some of the sets that maybe works like Conserve Energy or just gives +End)
9. Crippling Axe Kick/Sweeping Cross
This is just what I came up with using existing powers as an example of the kind of thing I'd like to see. Obviously entirely new powers could be just as cool if not cooler. Regardless, I'd like to see a new Blaster secondary that allows for a "Natural" Origin w/o being Devices.
Well, since nobody seems to have an answer, I spent some time searching the forums and Paragon Wiki.
- Bio Armor, Water Blasting, Nature's Affinity Power Sets - Still no clue beyond the name. Apparently I need to watch the ~40 hours of video of the Pummit to find out.
- Magisterium Trial - Probably some new endgame content/iTrail type thing.
- Night Ward - A First Ward like new zone currently on Beta.
- Summer Blockbuster - Something that can/will/might happen this summer? So it's not in winter, autumn or spring.
- Mecha Armor - Replacement for the Celestial Armor in i23. Probably looks somewhat like a Mecha?
- Superpacks Rogues/Vigilantes - A new kind of Superpack?
- Amplifiers - longer duration inspirations
- Double XP Boosters - What it says on the tin I suppose.
- Chain Mail Armor - Apparently on Beta. Probably looks somewhat like medieval chain mail?
- Additional Enhancement trays - Could mean two things. Either it's more trays in the Store than the current 3, or it's extra trays that you don't have to pay for.
- Cyberpunk costume - I've read a lot of Cyberpunk SciFi, but I don't know what this will look like. Probably not like a Mecha or chain mail.
- Halloween Costume Pack II - Witches, Jack-o-lanterns and bats? That's the images that come to mind for Haloween as a European. On the wiki there is a costume set with a brain in a jar, Piranha, Vampire and Medusa hair. But that's probably Halloween Costume Pack I.
- Hybrid slot - Lot's of stuff about this on the Beta forum. Seems to be something Incarnate-ish.
The result of this is that I've effectively given a ranking based as much on how much I know about a feature as on how much I'd like to have it. For example, I've given the Power Sets a ranking of "Meh". Maybe I would like them if I knew what they were.
A large part of my answers on the first page are basically random because of that. On the question to rank things from 1 to 15, I just made a nice diagonal line from top left to bottom right.

I really like it that you are asking your player community for feedback. But the survey itself could have been better executed. Unless the assumption is that only people who have seen the Pummit broadcast should fill in the survey, but then why point people to it from an in game message? If there are enough people like me, then you might be wasting a lot of effort on data that's too polluted with incorrect input to get any meaningful statistical results. I tried filling in the survey, but the first page is basically irrelevant.
Yes, because every needs highly detailed information to get excited for something. Heaven forbid you might be interested by a concept of all things.
Most of these are pretty self explanatory. Water blast, must be a new power set. Cyberpunk costume - it's in the name.
The only one that threw me off was 'Halloween II" since I wasn't sure if it was referring to the new trial and stuff that had just premiered or if it was something else that I hadn't heard of, but it was the only thing that couldn't really be guessed off of context of the name.

For example, I bought Titan Weapons in the market, because it sounded cool, but I didn't like its looks and animations and don't have a single character using it. (I have unused character slots). The same is true for the Gunslinger costume pack.
So my experience is that you can't go by the name to determine if something is "Meh" or "Awesome". I have since then learned to wait until there is information in the Paragon Wiki and/or people demonstrating the power on YouTube, before I consider spending Paragon Points on it.
And even then "Summer Blockbuster" doesn't mean anything to me beyond some vague association with movies that do well at the box office. I have no clue what it could mean in the City of Heroes environment unless they're planning to release a high budget movie this summer about Statesman or something like that.
Nah the first vid covers all of the power except for Nature's Affinity. Nature's affinity works a lot like Elec Control + Time and Empathy combined with a little bit of storm and poison. Layered passive support with some strong support here and there and a few wild cards thrown in the mix.

Maybe it will be of use to someone else.
Edit: I've tried to find the video you mention in http://www.ustream.tv/channel/paragon-studios
I found some videos of the Player Summit, and I watched the "pre-lunch" one, but I didn't find any information about those powersets.
I found some images of the Mecha armor costume:

If you'r going to make a survey like that please include information as to what all the options mean. I had to count against some things simply because I didn't understand what they are.
I like Bio Armor!
will it be like Alex Mercer and James Heller from the [Prototype] series?
Because if it is, I'M MAKING ONE!!!!!
This is the kind of information that I was looking for. Unfortunately I've already filled in the survey now.

Well they didn't say anything about the new sets to be honest and the information wasn't supposed to be released until I23 but some players digged around in some pigg files and found all of the powersets and powers.
If you want to find more information on the new sets just type in "water blast city of heroes" in google and you will eventually find it...as well as the other new powersets.
I think that the devs knew that the powersets would be popular but I don't think that they took in consideration just HOW popular these sets will be... that someone would go out of their way and risk it all just to show other players these new sets.
Yeah. I'm a relatively new player (Xmas 2011), and I have no clue what half the options are supposed to mean.
Right now I've stopped trying to fill in the survey. I came to this thread in the hope it had more information, I have read all the posts. Someone explained Amplifiers after the post by Gorgar quoted above. I'm stuck on page 1, as I don't know what the options mean, and I can only make a reasonable guess for the costume suggestions |
Chain Mail - the new costume set in I23, free to VIPs, buyable by freebies in the market.
Cyberpunk - a costume set chosen and partly designed by the players at the recent Player Summit.
Halloween II - there was a Halloween costuem pack last year, so this could eb a secodn one, but it could also mean an expanded halloween event.
Night Ward - the new 30-40 Paretorian zone coming in I23 - free to VIPs, buyable by freebies in the market.
It's a "ghost" version of First Ward.
Summer Blockbuster - a new summer event, starting this year, and based around a movie theme, with players playing out versions of the movies on shwo in Paragon city.
Hybrid Slot - the 6th new power pool from the Incarnate endgame system, coming in I23, and available only to VIPs.

You seem to know what you are talking about...what did you need help with GG?

IIRC Energy Blast (or the graphics for it?) was originally a 'Water Blast' set, way back in alpha or beta??
City of Heroes didn't fail, City of Heroes was killed. If a 747 dropped on your house, you'd say you were killed, not you failed to find a safer dwelling.

Actually, that's only half-right...

I really, really hope this means we'll also get an Energy Blast set that looks more beam-like, and less like firing globules of opaque liquid. I don't care if it's a new set called Energy Beam or something, or an alternate set of VFX for Energy Blast, but I'd like one either way.
Please try my custom mission arcs!
Legacy of a Rogue (ID 459586, Entry for Dr. Aeon's Third Challenge)
Death for Dollars! (ID 1050)
Dr. Duplicate's Dastardly Dare (ID 1218)
Win the Past, Own the Future (ID 1429)
Yes.

What I'd like to see in super packs: "Uninteresting things, I have zero interest in the super packs."
Am I alone here?

(although I wonder if they are counting each individual pack as a single sale. That would seem inaccurate to me since you can't actually buy less than 5 at a time)
So I just saw the in-game motd telling us about the summit and directing us to the third party website to take the survey... and then reminding us not to visit third party websites.
In any case, I ignored the advice and took the survey
