Role players How to seprate them from normal gamers

On Virtue, the roleplayers are so scarce that they need to organize events to make themselves easier to find. I have no idea where you're getting your roleplayer "problem" from, OP.

The impression I get is that most (not all, but most - or at least the noisiest) roleplayers are secreted away in elitist cliques where they huddle and whisper about the danger of being griefed by "those who're not like us".

I occasionally use /request in Atlas on Virtue for one of my characters to broadcast a roleplay "News Update". I present stories such as this:

Quote:
A private aircraft crashed in the Industrial Boulevard section of King's Row yesterday.

Local heros Miracle Maker, Miss Admiration, and the Corsican Count rescued the pilot and passengers moments before impact.

Clean-up efforts were complicated by the appearance of the "Clockwork Paladin", a monster constructed by the many clockwork automatons which frequent King's Row's more industrial areas.
I try to be judicious about when I do to ensure I'm not overlapping someone else's use of the channel. I post a preamble letting people know it's just a short roleplay news update, /request isn't often used and shows in a different color, and the whole event usually takes less than five minutes. While I choose days and times when Atlas Park is fairly busy, I don't do these "broadcasts" very often, perhaps several times per month.

I also try to work in mentioning various Supergroups I know are recruiting, spread notes about costume contests being run (especially the American Legion and Hero Dawn's events), and many of the stories relate to in game changes such as new contacts, TFs, and major zone reworking, like Dark Astoria.

I get a fair amount of favorable feedback, even from non-roleplayers, but I also occasionally get adverse and even hateful comments and attempts to interrupt me. Some people seem to be offended that Roleplay exists at all; go figure.

He has two arms, so he can bear two children. Three, if one's a kitten. No worries.

There is a Roleplayer in CoH? I must have missed him.

Fortunately, as the crash occurred in Kings Row, no one in Paragon City was significantly affected.

In other news, a threat of cosmic proportions is threatening Paragon City and the Rogue Isles. Scientists are still baffled by the lack of interest cosmic entities have over the other 97.5% of the planet but research is on-going. This is the ninth such threat this month, the highest number of cosmic threats in April in five years, but two less than the record set in 2002. The threat is expected to peak on Friday and continue throughout the weekend, so citizens are cautioned to increase their sunscreen to SPF 4000 and travel the city in single file until further notice. The Department of Homeland Security is projecting a return to zombie apocalypse conditions and widespread superpowered criminal activity by Wednesday.

Baffled? Look at the demographics. Those regions offer the greatest concentrations of catgirls on the planet. That can't be a coincidence.

...or are you counting the catgirl population AS a threat of cosmic proportions?

You roleplay in an MMORPG? A massively multiplayer online role playing game?!

What sick and twisted individual would even think of that!

Hehe, I think you may have missed that GG's comment was only "looking down" on what the OP had expressed and the extreme steps that such mindsets have been known to lead to. I read it as the opposite of looking down on us role-players.

I'll agree that Golden Girl was "looking down" on the OP, but I'm afraid to say that she has, in the past, expressed some distinctly condescending (and woefully misinformed) opinions about roleplayers, too.

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.*

Problem Role Players are always using broadcast and local chat to spam the start zone and any other zone they feel like hanging out in .

Solution make a chat channel that is for role play chat only.
That way us non role player can be left in peace.

Second problem how do I know if this person wants to role play or just play the game.

Answer you already have the help me and helper tags people can turn on. Add a third Roleplayer tag that all of them can turn on to let anyone who looks at them know at a glance that they welcome Role-play.
that’s all I got to say If any of this sounds like a good idea or just hogwash feel free to let me know.
Yes, how dare those jerks RP publicly in an MMORPG?!?!

Funny, I find RPers on Virtue all the time without events. That's not why they organize events, they organize events so that RPers from different social circles can get together. Or, you know, the events are part of their RP in many cases. Seriously, if you can't find RPers on Virtue, you need to take the blindfold off....

I RP on Virtue, but I never see RPers in Broadcast in Atlas, it is a rarity. I do see them ussing the classic ((*insert text between the bars*)) for their broadcasts, thereby identifying themselves as a roleplayer. If this is what you are complaining about then turn broadcast off. That shows a little disdain toward a portion of this online community that is just taking their own fun to a different level of immersion. The brackets merely showcase that that person is a roleplayer and shouldn't be viewed as spam or a reason to form this opinion. If you don't like RPers switch to a server were it's less abundant or turn broadcast off from your main chat window.
