This...

EDIT: micro left when the PM hit CoX...

Ummm... that's not how one normally denotes ninety-nine cents in US currency. If you don't have the actual cents symbol (¢ = Alt+155), the 'c' doesn't read correctly. So, use either:
  • $0.99
  • 99¢
  • 99 cents

What's the best bargain for XP Boosters?

So, one would want to pay the least amount of Paragon Points for the most percentage boosts, right? If we calculate the Points needed for a 1% XP boost for 1 hour, then the 5 Pack of 25% XP Boost at 50% off costs 1.8 PP for a 1% XP Boost for 1 hour.

Because of that deep 50% discount, the only version of the 50% or 100% XP boosters that can match that is the 100% XP Boost for 8 hours, which is also 1.8 PP per 1% XP Boost for 1 hour.

Any other version of the XP Boosters will cost you 2-3 times more per percentage per hour.

So, to save Points, either buy the 50% discounted 5 Pack 25% XP Boosters, or the full price 8 Hour 100% XP Booster.

Calculation table found here.

Was Heatcomb the only purple to make it to the market? Usually there are things left out that are latter posted by a player...

I'm surprised it's taken them so long to start selling Purple IO's, I figured it would have happened much sooner. What I want to know now is, when can we start buying those pesky PVP IO's at the store?

Yes, just Hecatomb. It's a test case for SBE purples in general. The other purple sets are already on beta, so assuming this goes over well, they'll probably arrive soon too.

I really, REALLY hate "playing the market." It is not fun for me in the least.

I usually dump every piece of salvage I get on there for 1 inf except for Rares, which I stockpile because I don't want to play the market. I dump common recipes on the market for 1 inf as well, even though they sell better directly to vendors, simply because they are thus cheaper to players who are still working on their crafting badges.

If there's something I want and can't get for under 20M on the market, then I'll buy it straight off with Reward Merits or Alignment Merits.

I bought the Hecatomb set today, and feel that the current sale price of $12.50 is only a little bit steep. (I'd prefer it capped at $10, or 800PP--side note: I also believe all the other enhancements are overpriced as well.) I'm not really regretting it, because that means I don't have to spend weeks on end grinding to get it in-game.

I've simply valued my time over my money in this case.

Well that right there is a perfect reason to plop down some cold, hard cash.

Let's put the "micro" back in micro-transactions. I completely understand wanting to make money, since NC Soft is running a business after all. But I can't be the only one who understands that lower prices could actually garner higher revenue.

Think of it this way: McDonalds during the recession maintained more growth than Wendy's and Burger King while keeping prices down. It keeps the top spot because it's so affordable. One person buying a $15 item doesn't garner as much as 3 people buying the same item for $7.50.

You are not the only one, and I've been saying similar things since Freedom went live. At this point I'm in the camp that just laughs at the prices most weeks and hoards points for when/if things go on sale. I bought 8 sets of Kinetic Combat last week when they were priced at a fairly reasonable 310 (or 318 for the 4 I actually use).

I've basically taken the cynical view that the prices on the Paragon Market are inflated on purpose so that when they do 25 and 50% off "sales" we feel like we're getting a bargain. But that's true in most all retail so I'm not holding my breath for a change.

  • Would I prefer the "sale" prices be the "regular" prices over having occasional sales?
    • Yes, because I wouldn't have to wait for sales and would be more likely to just BUY IT NAO!
  • Would I spend more PP on SBE?
    • Absolutely.
  • Will I be buying storage increase(s) this week?
    • Yes. I already broke down and bought the extra Enhancement slots, but I'm eying the +Salvage and +Recipes. Why no +Auction House sale?
As to the subject of Purple sets on the PM; I don't have an issue with it, but I won't be buying any either. As far as I'm concerned the best thing about SBE is the Attuned quality which doesn't matter with IOs that can only be slotted at 50. This is also the reason I am unlikely to ever use a catalyst. I don't generally build around purple sets anyway because I exemplar a lot and want to keep my set bonuses.

Dunno if this has been mentioned but since I don't see it on the product description where is SHOULD be...

The paragon bought enhancements are not +boostable, Anyone interested should be aware of that before you shell out money for the purples and the boosters in the hopes of making +'d purples.

They don't behave the same way as in-game purps.

This WAS brought up in sand-pounding beta.

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.

Purple sets keep their bonuses no matter how far down you exemplar. That's one of the best things about them. (PVP sets are the same, but the bonuses are generally less useful.)

Seriously? I must have missed that thread. Well, back to Mid's then.

That's true about ALL Store-Bought Enhancements, though. None of them will accept Enhancement Boosters.

Hey if I happened to buy the enhancement increase like a week or two before it went on sale, am I just outta luck?

It would be nice if the store showed what items we purchased... I can still attempt to buy a 1 of # on an item and go all the way through check out before the server gives an error that I already own it, thus going to a 2 of #, etc...

Actually, the one thing I am concerned about is the little timeframe given to the double XP booster. Some people might like those, but just one week is a terribly short time, specially if someone gets paid from work or have scheduled to get money after next week*Shrugs* Just my two cents, such short sales are a bit dissapointing.

I don't know who comes up with the Points for the items, But Lord the prices in the market are what to Dang high, how about cutting the prices by 75% an then putting them in the market, if you think people are going to spend real money on this i feel sorry for you, Right now it's all some people can do to pay for being vip, so maybe you should rethink some of the things you do DEVS

They'll be back. I'm positive.

But I'm not "Golden Girl" positive, so I'll refrain from winking.

Two things I wanted to make you aware of:
  1. Thank you for finally putting these items on sale. I bought $100 worth of Paragon Points and dropped 8000 PP for all the Salvage and Recipe upgrades.
  2. If this had been the price point normally, you wouldn't have had to wait 7.5 months (Sept. 13th 2011-April 25th 2012) for my money. I will gladly pay for things I perceive to be of value. I'll hold onto my money (and even my free stipend!) when I think things are priced too high.
My closed wallet is a very quiet vote that doesn't speak as loudly as spending money. I wanted to give you feedback on a a very specific example of something I've always considered too expensive. I backed up that feedback by spending money to show my commitment to my opinion.

P.S. - I still won't buy the extra enhancement slot trays because I still think they're too expensive (even at 25% off).

I don't like high prices either but I guarantee you that if they weren't getting money from people the prices would drop.

(sheepishly raises hand)

I am one of the guilty. I have a decent job and this is so little compared to what I spend on wine, women and song that I just buy whatever I think I might need or even want.

Feel free to blame me and others like me. We probably deserve it!

You *******.

It is because of people like you that I, like many others, get nothing but The Tower from their Mystic Fortune rolls.

It is because of people like you that I, like many others, find themselves turned into a monkey in the middle of a mob of angry Mu.

It is because of people like you that children like little Timmy will never know what happened to that hero he looked up to.

It is because of you that every time a blaster uses Nova, a star somewhere up in that cold night sky is snuffed out prematurely.

It is because of you that the Synapse Task Force has yet to be reworked.

Know that every time a citizen in Atlas has her purse snatched as hero after hero ignores her pleas for help, it is because of you and your need for enhancement trays.

I hope god forgives you. Because I, like many others, cannot.
