I don't think most of us are complaining, I'm not. I simply don't understand why the respec is what they jump to every time for a "reward."
These don't stack, so none of my toons will really even get them. I was personally just stating that most of us don't need any more respecs, we have too many as it is. If I create a new toon right now I immediately have a plethora of vet specs sitting in e-mail, I believe about 8 of them...that is enough right there to last me a lifetime on that toon.
Not everyone is going to be thrilled with receiving something that even a brand new toon is going to have mutliples of already. Heck, I'll be lucky if it grants to more than 2% of my toons total. =P
I wouldn't equate it to a slap in the face, that's a bit stupid... I just think maybe something with a little more substance would be nice. *shrugs* And no...not a tailor token...my main his 75 of those. >.>

people people people....I do believe that some are missing the part where it says and I qoute: "And don't worry, we have lots planned for the 8th Anniversary"....So there could be more to it than just a freespec....

I think the ones reacting to the freespec with less enthusiasm are being unfairly singled out as being crybabies.
I don't see it that way, I see it as their neighbor just handed them a pencil (something they have tons of) and said here it's free!
They get a confused look on their face and say a slow "Thanks"
It isn't that they're screaming bloody murder over getting freebies, its that to them the freebie is clutter and they would've rather been given a pen.
That said, I'm happy with anything personally, I just want the 8 year badge on my main and another great year of gaming!

Anyway. The reason why we're not given this choice, apart from them not having too give it to us, is, as usual, quite simple. Time and money.
There is no way currently in game to provide the sort of choice you're asking for. Which means such a system would have to be developed for it. Which, I'm guessing, since it doesn't already exist, is not a trivial thing. Which means that they would have to dedicate a non trivial amount of effort for ... what reward exactly? Addressing a couple of misguided entitlement issues?

If this was all we get for the 8th Anniversary I would be mildly disappointed but I strongly suspect that the 8th Anniversary will be a whole lot more exciting and this is just a nice little bonus.

i really wish id kept the post that bab meationed or was quoted as saying
(cant rember which now) that the 10th Anniversary badge came with your own server
concerning the frespec could be worse it could be a costume token (im drowning in those)
Though, do keep in mind that if you already have a freespec, you don't get one. So....
Anyhow, I'm still waiting for my 3-year vet badge myself. I'd rather have that than a freespec, to be honest with you. :P

I guessed this was part of the reason we didn't get one with I22. It probably would have defused some of the stompy-shoutyness around that original topic to have such confirmed.
But I do appreciate it, and look forward to the anniversary celebration.

As someone who was slightly disappointed and worried at the lack of a freespec with i22, I want to say that my confidence has been restored.
