Aptly named Oblivious-to-the-Obvious-Dark-Darkity-Hominid-Hero-Villain (alternatively named the difficult-to-pronounce acronym 'OttODDHHV') thought he was in a safe place... he failed to notice that the huge, obviously super-powerful creature to whose shoulder he had unwittingly escaped for safety was having his body and head rent by shards of blue-white energy light, usually accepted to be a bad sign for continued survival.
