So how about a new Epic AT?
There are at least a few of these threads floating around here that were all referred to Kristin's AT thread if I remember correctly.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.
Ironically fully slotted Omega Incarnates will likely come close to something like this anyway.
Loth 50 Fire/Rad Controller [1392 Badges] [300 non-AE Souvenirs]
Ryver 50 Ele Blaster [1392 Badges]
Silandra 50 Peacebringer [1138 Badges] [No Redside Badges]

This wouldn't be an epic AT. It would be a custom AT. Epic ATs have extremely limited set choices because they are story-driven. Custom ATs are a mess and you can look at that other superhero MMO Cryptic made for proof.
I don't think we need any new standard ATs. New EATs would be cool, but only in certain situations. I personally think VEATs aren't even that great because they aren't as unique and interesting story wise as HEATs. So any new EAT is going to have to be pretty awesome to draw me in.
Also, look before you post. There is a thread specifically for AT suggestions. And someone else suggested something similar to this a few days ago.

But on the other hand, Epics tend to have more unique mechanics to them that I (mostly) enjoy.
We've never really had a basic archetype added (aside from the villain ATs, which I don't really count), so I'd like to have one added... then they can toss in another Epic or two.
Epic Archetypes are great, but this would not be one. It would be a very messy custom AT which would require obscene amounts of work to balance, before ever bothering with PvP. *ahem*CO*cough*

If Masterminds didn't suck, they'd be the most powerful AT in the game.

EATs are nice, but they'd need to be something specific that couldn't fit better in a standard AT. For instance, my frequently requested Rikti EAT Given they'd need a unique body-type and animations.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I disagree. There have been and still are requests/suggestions for a Melee/Support character and, one I will champion till I quit, a Ranged/ or Assault/Armour character. There are a lot of Super Hero appropriate concepts locked behind those styles, none of which can be properly filled by the current ATs.

Also, a Rikti EAT would be awesome. I've wanted to play a Rikti since I10 and have had to settle for the Rikti costume code

Hm m m A Frankentoon EAT huh? I guess that could be fun, but it might be hard to balance. I would give it a try.
First I would want to see Kheld Kin, AKA the Nictus kids, Quantum's, Galaxy's and Voids. (Oh My!) And then of course, Rikti, and then Longbow Agent, and then. . . .
I suggested this quite a few months ago with a worked out plan and the response i got back from the Dev i sent it to was semi positive.
PEAT: Praetorian Epic ArcheType
*Praetor:
Any attacking primary/ Any non attacking Primary
*Custom WarWork:
At level 24 forced respec, making the choice of career path, much like the VEAT.
Starting path/Path1)
Builder; Low ranged attacks, low def
Path 2)
MK-VI "Vickie": Med to High melee attacks, med to high res and def
Path 1 and 2 can combine secondary powers.
Path 3)
Demolitioner: Med to high Ranged attacks, med to high res and def.
Path 1 and 3 can combine primary powers.
Also have the outfit in slot 1 reflect the path choice.
PS: this is waaay less detail than my initial pm to the Dev.

For melee damage that would be the numbers used by Tankers, for defense sets, the numbers used by scrappers/stalkers.
Ranged? Defenders. Buff? Controllers.
Control would be the real area that needs looking at for balance. Perhaps Pet sets as well depending on certain combos, others balance themselves.
Fighting alongside your pets using a melee set? Well now you aren't buffing/healing them, and its going to be a big chunk of the end you use to hit stuff, when you need to replace dead pets.

I'd still like to see a new HEAT sort of like the VEATS, for a Paragon Police Department AT. In fact it'd be a lot like the arachnos soldier with the separate paths, Psi-Op, SWAT and Hardsuit. the Psi-Op would ironically end up like like a Fortunata with powerful psychic support behind the basic guns. SWAT would give you lots of control tools in addition to your guns, like the infamous glue mortar, tasers, etc. Heck it'd probably end up a bit liek firing trick arrow out of a gun, having assault rifle attacks and some traps. And then the hardsuit well....I just really want to be in a hardsuit because those are awesome, but they'd be very blastery on attack, but with defenses backing them up rather than the melee of a blaster.
I think a lot of people would enjoy it, though reconciling the hardsuit attacks that emerge from places like it's gauntlets might make for the same issue of the crab spider backpack, but people have worked around it, I'm sure they could work around that.
Oh yeah, we should also add Paragon Protectors as EATs!
YES PLEASE!
Check out the Repeat Offenders network of SGs! You'll be glad you did.
I would love to see Praetorian Epics even if they were somewhat similar to what we already have. Seers come to mind instantly and perhaps Olympians?
I would have thought that Longbow Wardens would be the obvious choice.
If you mess with the costume creator you can already make them for the most part. I'm not sure which aspect you're wanting in a HEAT that you can't work out via costume and power choices already available. Although, I admit, you may surprise me with something I hadn't thought of.

Meh, Wardens would already be doable if they would give us a Longbow spandex option, with a baked in pattern and FP logo, along with the hip detals and helmet hat.

Primal vs Preatoria EATS
Primal starts with plain cops and has two branches 1 of which includes the PPD power armor division which unlike the Longbow idea listed earlier can't be done at all in terms of power options or costume options
I don't really care about the other branch it could be legacy chain or even longbow for all i care
Preatoria starts with plain cops, and has two branches one of which includes the heavy commander/Col. Duray powers.
I don't really care about the other branch it could be olympian guard powers or even joining the Resistance for all i care
The idea of a Praetorian EAT is one that's been mentioned off an on for a while, and (as far as I know) never directly shot down by the devs. Assuming similar alignment/unlock requirements to HEATs and VEATs, PEATS might help make Praetoria less of a ghost town... make people play at least one Praetorian to 20 for access to the new AT, then make all PEATs start there just like VEATS have to start in the Rogue Isles now.
We've never really had a basic archetype added (aside from the villain ATs, which I don't really count)....

Also, why don't the villain ATs count?
FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

True, but one could easily argue that the niche filled by a new class in most games is filled in this one every time a new powerset is added. And we've seen dozens of those. Also, why don't the villain ATs count? |
I view Plant Control the same way. It didn't count as a new control set "added" to the game. It was *always* in CoV, which was in that weird place where it was as it's own game, in addition to an XPac.
My brain just works in odd ways like that.
So how about an Epic Archtype that has access to all the power sets?
Primary would be the Damage sets, so Ranged, Melee or the Assault sets.
Secondary would be a choice between a Control set, Armour or Buff/Debuff set.
The mastermind primaries could go into either, but would lock out the choice of those kinds of powers in your other choice. So no Thugs/Mercs but a Demons/Titan Weapon would work.
As for inherent, a friend suggested Jack of all trades a small buff that scales with the number of enemies and or enemies in range, so that the more epic a fight is (either by the amount of friends around you, or enemies youre fighting.) the more at home you are.
