I saw this coming a mile away. Frankly, it should have been implemented as such in the first place.

In any case, the whole point of this crap was to control Converter sales. Which, by the way, people were trying to circumvent because the other purchase routes are still broken.

I understand and applaud the exploit fix--but a lot of people were doing it because the store was broken.

Weak. Important fix yes, but that's it? Nothing else among the various fixes needed, nothing else amongst the various changes ask for, nothing new on the market except a story arc that VIP's get for free?

Weak Weak Weak.

I was surprised to find i could buy and use converters at level 1 last week. I'm glad they fixed the exploit but I was really hoping this patch would include the ability to buy them from the trash can with v-merits.

4 hours mantenaince to patch this?
Yeeez!

Hi guys,

Actually, the publish only took about two hours before players were able to connect again. It takes a certain amount of time to carry out a patch procedure, regardless of the amount of data being patched.

There are fixes for other issues that will be implemented in an upcoming patch, so don't worry about that.

Best,

Yes. Now that have to roll new toon, run 2 DFBs, buy converters, pick up enhancements emailed from other toon, convert them, email them back, delete new toon, repeat.

When will people realize that the Devs don't usually outright STOP people from doing questionable, pseudo-exploitative things. They usually just make those questionable, pseudo-exploitative things so annoying to accomplish that the overwhelming vast majority of the playerbase gets the hint and stops doing those silly things.

Well, it wasn't really "pseudo" until they changed it. :P

I understand that exploits need to be fixed, but this was a pretty minor one, and I'm extremely disappointed that fixing it was deemed more important than fixing the larger issue of not being able to buy converters with A-merits or i-Merits.

I'm extremely disappointed that people consistently make assumptions, treat them as fact, and then are disappointed about them. There was no statement about what fixes were "deemed more important". This fix was ready to go and presumably pretty darn simple to implement since there are lots of other systems that check your level.

This... is precisely what I was thinking.

People are SO fast to jump to this "slap in the face" mentality it is kinda disgusting. And no, it doesn't have to be actually said to be implied.

I'm honestly not sure why we should be able to get these via a-merits or e-merits when I've been getting them as drops just by killing normal stuff. (Is that WAI or is that a bug?) Having said that, I'm under the assumption that this is fairly widely available that we don't need to be able to obtain these via any other way.

We were told the problem would be fixed in the next patch. This was the next patch, and it wasn't fixed. I have every right to be disappointed.

We should be able to get them with a-merits and i-merits because the devs told us that we would.

How much does an enhancement converter actually cost? Looks like 10 merits and some unknown amount of inf, that I can't read since all of the numbers have run together or overlap.

Wow. Of all the other nasty show-stoppers in the game right now, I can sure see why this one took priority!

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

Actually, they uploaded Sig arc 7 at the same time I think...along with putting new items for sale.

And they nearly always patch on a Tuesday...maybe the fixes just are not ready yet?

After all, we all know that design works by putting every employee to work on a single problem at a time! Balanced workload? Pff, never heard of it.

10 reward merits and 250k inf at any reward merit vendor.

They can also randomly drop off of any enemy you defeat, provided that you get XP/inf from it. It is a white (common) drop.

Well moreover, making a new character and spending half an hour leveling so you can buy a single converter (you get 18 merits from vet rewards, tops) doesn't sound exploitative at all. It sounds well within the normal range for reward per unit time.
