Future Incarnate Content Proposals

Okay, so we've got the Praetorian invasion to wrap up like Winter, and then it's the Coming Storm.
But then what? I mean incarnate content, the whole system even, is supposed to be an on going thing like a terrible comic book series, right? Because I'm gonna hold you to that, Devs.

Anyway though, so I say that in this thread, we propose what incarnates should do after The Coming Storm.

Mine is: The Challenges of Valhalla.

Upon defeating what had been feared to be Ragnarok, Odin merrily invites heroes and villains alike to parttake of the riches of Valhalla.
-Repeatable missions are between One on One duels against mythical heroes or recreating their legendary deeds with your own (better) twists on them.
-The iTrial will be a Tournament in which a league of up to 24 players will battle 24 Heroes in mock army battles.
-And an Epic, Incarnate level story arc will have heroes learn Loki may not have been guilty as Odin suspects, and Ragnarok may still be on the horizon, unless you can prevent it.
-Meanwhile though, villains are contacted by the frost giants and given a once-in-a-life time opportunity to learn how to steal the powers of Asgard for themselves. (And this time, you are not backstabbed and you do get temp powers and bonus at the end. Sure heroes will get the same reward, but the point is this is a villain arc where you actually get a pay off)

Now as for why I think this might be good: It let's us delve into the Legendary lore of City of, just what were the Ancient gods of the verse, and what they're up to now? It also is meant to be sort of a breather episode after an Interdimensional War and the Coming Storm. Plus it lets us move OUT of Greek myth for just a little and bring in perhaps the second most popular mythology.

Now here's hoping Marvel isn't a jerk and says "NO! NORSE MYTHOLOGY IN A SUPER HERO SETTING IS COPYRIGHT OF US!"

I don't think "norse mythology" is the right word for what Marvel is doing.

I don't know about after the Coming Storm, but I have an interesting idea for an incarnate zone in general. Most likely during the storm.

The Event Horizon

The bring of destruction. The edge of Oblivion. Here the echoes of lost potential float in the abyss. The question is... will humanity join the lost, or will the courage of the Incarnates be enough to hold off the darkness?

This is a zone that fits really well with the Coming Storm in general, but works just as well on it's own. The entrance is an Ouroboros platform floating in a vast, starry void, with earth floating distantly in the background. Directly ahead is a vast void, threatening to suck all of existence into it. This zone doesn't actually take place in space, however, but rather in the realm of The Well itself. In a Pre-Coming storm battle, it could represent the Batallion's force of potential advancing upon Humanity.

Regardless, Incarnates can move freely through the void without travel powers. There is ground. Invisible, but solid.

Surrounding the Void, are small flickering beacons of light. The remnants of lost worlds. By approaching one, Incarnates are transported into an echo of the world as it was before it's consumption. These districts are but shadows, but the beings trapped within are powerful and deadly. Basically, they'd either work like the Shadowed Paths (the district phases in as you enter it's borders), or as autoteleports (You're teleported to a separate part of the map when you enter).

The content involves exploring these shattered echoes of worlds to find a way to hold off the destruction of earth. Heroes can use the lost knowledge and memories of the conflict to steel themselves for the upcoming battle. Villains can claim what little power remains for themselves, consuming the few remaining drops of the potential like the Batallion did so long ago.

The iTrial, of course, turns the zone into an all out battlefield. The void draws upon the power of it's prisoners, and Incarnates must travel the Event Horizon and battle the Champions of each echo to sever the Batallion's (?) ties with it.

If nothing else, it would look pretty.

Although Thor as a god is in the public domain I think it would be rather funny if they went out of their way not to mention his name and did so for comedic effect.

Since I like space battles and Task Forces...

I'm assuming this as either a three mission Task Force or a three stage, three map single team/small team Trial. The feel I'm going for is more like an elite, powerful strike team than a charging horde of superpowered redshirts. So possibly only one full team, if possible.

Task Force Dreadnaught

My general idea is to recreate the feeling of being in a battle much larger than ourselves, with heroes and villains battling across and into a massive alien battleship even as allied forces like Vanguard try to take it down. Possibly in space. I have this image of a Vanguard orbital platform and this huge alien ship exchanging fire.

The players drop onto the hull of the ship (the actual spawn point is about 30 or 50 feet in the air above the deck) with the battle already raging. One of the big dangers of this first stage is environmental: you've got Vanguard jets or orbital platforms or whatever performing runs on the ship. So if you don't pay attention, you could wander into their strafing runs or strikes from their guns.

In the first stage, the objective is to get inside, even as the deck guns turn on you. A bonus objective is to take out the bigger guns to help the Vanguard forces, and maybe knock out the shield generator.

Second stage is fighting your way through the ship, disabling systems as you go as the ship's internal security tries to contain and stop you.

The final stage is the free for all battle royal on the ship's bridge between your team and the ship's captain and officers, even as the ship begins to burn around you as the military and other heroes are able to take the upper hand thanks to all the damage you're doing.

EDIT: The general thing I'm going for is that you're not just taking on bigger foes, but doing stuff nobody else would be crazy enough to try because you're just that awesome now. You attack alien dreadnoughts by tearing out the big guns and storming the bridge in the middle of a raging battle. You take on epic monsters of colossal scale. You are willing to show the universe exactly who the hell you are. Being powerful isn't just about doing more damage or being able to flick your wrist and make stuff happen. It's about being a badass doing it. If we're going to be demi-gods, we might as well be doing the craziest, coolest stuff we can.

EDIT2: Also, I use the spaceship idea because, well... we can't fight across zeppelins. And people would poo poo that as "Oh, fighting across a giant war zeppelin is beneath us!" Fine. Your giant war zeppelin is now an alien dreadnought!

This little sentence here made me laugh

Unfortunately, I am sort of over the system as a whole. The fact that everyone gets the same abilities has really soured my opinion of it. But that's another topic.

I would LOVE to see a portal to the Rikti Home World, something occurring in outer space, a revamp of the Shadow Shard where we get to face Rularuu, etc.

I would also like to see some kind of Incarnate content that is not co-op, in any way. I think it would be cool if actions on either side of the line could affect the other side in some way, but that toes the line of PvP, and I know some people wouldn't appreciate that.

@Winter. Because I'm Winter. Period.
I am a blaster first, and an alt-oholic second.

The Battalion, starting in the ruined Galaxy City where the Shivan vanguard are really starting to gel up into some nasty business. And then into space to fight their spaceships!

Following the Battalion move up to Rularuu, that crazy dimension-eating god. Lughebu is smalltime compared to a god that's so strong he busted down into numerous different colossal incarnates in the shadow shard which then created huge swarming armies--what if he was actually united again?

Give us a war.

An ultimate battle between naivety and evil, where we steal an alien ship and participate in a massive-scale battle where we not only can man the guns and fire away on the opposing ship but have to deal with invaders beaming on board and attacking and harassing the crew. Finally a scenario where defenders would be individually just as useful as anyone else even if the entire rest of the team is defense, resistance, and heal-capped. Got to keep those NPC's alive and well or the job becomes impossible for the team, you see.

Victory in the conflict means that my character has a real, genuine, alien ship all to myself, complete with a teleporter that can send me to my mission zone once every 30 minutes to an hour or so, and a little pad where I can go and invite my friends and we can chill and watch B-movies from another world. As to whether the conflict ever ends with one side victorious or another, who really cares, man, I got a spaceship.

I'm not going to slam Rularuu or a Shadow Shard revamp for that matter, but I would LOVE the chance to fight Lughebu and the other Banished Pantheon gods.

to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!

They're totally not setting up Prometheus and/or the organization he works for out to be a potential future threat at all.

Nope.
