Dark Astoria arcs left me unsatisfied.
The Phalanx being eaten could be added as a cutscene at the start of the Trial.

Alright, now that I've *actually* finished the arcs, it was satisfying.
I hated having to go to Cimerora, though, and the missions there were annoying. |

Pity the removal of said mission isn't that great an idea either, because now there's next to no explanation for how the Phalanx ended up in the Trial. I think it would have been better to just shave the last little bit off the mission, the actual part that required the Trial, but it didn't turn out that way.

They left it in the patch notes too
I like the idea of mini-arcs that tie into Trials - one way of making sure players know it's team content would be to have big red warning text in the mission briefing, telling them that the arc would lead to a Trial, and was unable to be done solo, to avoid people starting it and then finding out that they couldn't complete it on their own.

I got fed up saving Marcus, I hate the layout of Cimerora which made an outdoor mission there annoying, and that last mission fighting groups of 8 bosses was so tedious I fell asleep and when I came back I just auto-completed it because I couldn't stand to start over from the beginning.

Oh, and my rogue disliked saving the Cimerorans in the burning town. What the heck does she care about them?
VIRTUE: Ms Pris - 50 scrapper, Brai Master - 50 tank, Candi Pain - 50 scrapper
VICTORY: Little Bertha - 50 blaster
Sure there is; they thought they could save the day... and were wrong.

Some of the mission design decisions seem to be made with the purpose of padding out the arcs past a minimum amount of time they must take to throttling reward rates. Notice how the fist arc, usually regarded as the fastest one, has a lengthy conversation in the middle that really didn't need to go on as long as it did. And the following attack waves are spaced out quite a bit as well. And in the second arc, again a long cinematic with Scirocco on what would otherwise be a mission you could run to the end of and kill the boss. And the missions without these kinds of cinematics/conversations are the ones that have you hunting glowies or killing X number of named bosses. Pretty much all or most of the missions you can speed to the end of have conversations and cutscenes to lengthen them.

When in this post WWD world have the FP been either successful or competent?

Most of the DA arcs were ok i think.
Tub Ci's level shifts was a cool mechanic even if as a +3 EB he is pretty easy to walk over
I liked the small optional solo stories.
Majority of the gameplay sucked. Standard lead to, backtrack on on huge map and defeat x amount to succeed.
The tentacles suck almost as much as mole machines
And, hey! This way you're not *with* the team that fails miserably!
