Train station in PI already!
Peregrine is also, you know, an island. Building a monorail track all the way out there is probably kind of expensive.
One thing they could do though... there's a bus stop right by the station in Talos. They could put a stop near the ferry to Peregrine as well and then set them up so clicking one transports you to the other. Actual bus graphics optional. Would save a bit of time running across the zone.

It'd be nice if, at the least, the IP ferry sent you to PI too, not just the Talos one.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

2. They could put a Ferry in IP if they wanted to.
3. Ideally, they could just put the PI Ferry on the Tram Line and call it a Transfer. After all, how many times do we jump into a truck or boat and exit inside a mission which could be an office building or sewers on the 'other side' of the city divide? We presume we took all the connecting transfer vehicles to get there. There's no reason we couldn't get on the Tram in Steel and get off the Ferry in PI and assume that we got off in Talos, took a bus to the Ferry there, and wound up in PI.

If memory serves there's already a helipad in Talos maybe a couple hundred feet west-southwest from the Wentworth's. They could just set a helicopter there (like the one that goes to Bloody Bay or Warburg) that could go to PI somewhere near the Portal Corp. I think there's another helipad just south of Portal Corp. on top of one of those apartment buildings.

Or get a base teleporter.
The only convenience I can see by adding a train station in PI is so lowbies can travel there and beg for teams.
The way I see it is if you want to PL or freeload off of higher level toons then you might as well risk traveling through Talos.
Toons that get fedex or go see missions in PI should be high enough to have unlocked the portal, unless I'm mistaken (Which wouldn't be the first time).

Bah. The train could be connected via tunnel like in the old days when you could leave Talos and swim to PI. Also, the "PL me" crowd has the AE system to keep them occupied.
What prompted this is that I had to travel to Atlas to talk to a contact from PI. No problem, Oro portal there, talk to the contact, and then go talk to this other person somewhere else. Then back to PI for the mission.....Oro portal isn't recharged yet.....so I have to take the train to Talos and then to PI, when I thought "Wow, wouldn't it be great if the train just took me to PI?"

I think you'll still have PL beggars because I don't think free accounts have access to AE. But you do have a point about the recharge on the portal as it has happened to me in the past. On most of my toons it's not an issue because I use Super Speed, but having to fly to the Tram, venture to Talos, then fly Talos to PI is time consuming, but not without it's advantages as you can go get something to drink and be back before you reach the PI ferry...
I wonder what would take more coding time, placing a train in PI or removing nonsensical fedex back and forth missions such as the one you encountered?

Or used the Mission Teleporter or Mission Transporter to get to the mission, since that was your stated reason for going back to PI.
It's possible I might have even gone through a base if I needed to drop something off in a storage bin, grab an inspiration or two out of storage, or anything I could do in the base.
We have enough alternatives to the trains that I don't think there are any plans being considered to extend any of the lines into PI.
I'd have taken the train to Founder's instead, popped into RWZ since the entrance is right next to the train and immediately exited out to PI.

Besides, I don't want to pop into Peregrine at the Ferry or the Vanguard Base or the Oportal drop-off point, or the Base Beacon drop-off point.
I want to pop into Peregrine at Portal Corp. Where 90% of stuff happens in Peregine. Where there are *portals*!!!!!
Give me something like that so I can stop running the length of the island every time I go there.

On the plus side, at least it makes Glacia -very- accessible.

I agree with the OP though, there really is no excuse to not have tram access in PI.

And if it was meant that they were talking to someone else in Atlas, then the RWZ entrance in Atlas would definitely be the way to go rather than the train to Talos and then going through the Ferry to PI.

Remember when we had to take a train to Steel Canyon or Skyway, just so we could take another train somewhere else. Good times.

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.
Very simple reason. Look again at what I replied to, specifically the parts in bold.
That part about talking to this other person somewhere else suggests that they left Atlas. It could be that they talked to the contact and then talked to someone else in another part of Atlas, but that isn't the immediate interpretation I get. My response was based on that interpretation. And if it was meant that they were talking to someone else in Atlas, then the RWZ entrance in Atlas would definitely be the way to go rather than the train to Talos and then going through the Ferry to PI. |
If a train running to PI is impossible for a city with "war walls" everywhere and portals to other dimensions, maybe a helicopter line for blueside would be a good compromise. The "black helicopter line" in the Rogue Islands made traveling easier before the ferrys took you everywhere.
Also, with that in mind, now a lvl 1 can go from Mercy straight to Grandville so I don't think that allowing access to PI for early players is too good of an excuse.

With all the other quality of life things that have been done for us, I almost hate to ask, but Peregrine Island is one of the most frequented spots in the game and I'd really like to see a train station put there. I don't think this is too much to ask due to the high amount of "go here and see this person" types of missions that some of the contacts there hand out. Really a pain to have to travel through Talos and then to the train station (which I had to do numerous times prior to posting this).
