I still take the tunnels on occasion for nostalgia's sake. The last Hami raid I went to I actually made the journey all the way from the Founder's Falls/Talos gate, all the way through to Eden, across Eden to the Hive, just for stuffs and giggles.

<--- Remembers fondly the old Hami Express chain of 'porters in the old days.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

I agree with the OP though, there really is no excuse to not have tram access in PI.
Perigrine is quite a bit further off the coast, though, if you look at the worldmap.

Even with it being away from the coast, a city with war walls and portals that go everywhere could manage a long distance tunnel going from the mainland to PI.

Train to PI would be wonderful for me, rogues cannot use Ouro to get there.

Rogues can't use that to PI :/ or have smugglers ship have a spot in north main island in PI. Or make it like cap Au Diable ferry..... Make the one from Talos have a north PI and South PI. That alone will help when doing STF as rogue

Aren't there power lines going from PI to the mainland? You can also see a skyline off in the distance in the direction they go.

Sure but in the real world there's a significant difference between running static power lines for miles versus having a long train bridge that would run for miles out into the ocean. There have been attempts that this kind of thing (like the overseas railroad to Key West) but even that real world example only lasted a few years before a hurricane took it out.

There are countless examples of ferries running between islands and mainlands like this today. For the canon of the game there's clearly no obvious justification for having a tram in this situation.

My biggest pet peeve with PI is that virtually every method of getting there (ouro, base portal, long range teleport) puts you in the same place... the south end of the island... and the place you nine times out of ten want to get to is portal corp... the opposite end of the island... I often just start an ouro tf to use the crystal port to Tina Macintyre and then abandon it. Even the RWZ port isn't much closer to Portal Corp...

This is why I still like my helicopter idea that would run from the helipad in TI near Wentworth's to a helipad right next to the Portal Corp. They already have helicopters going to Bloody Bay and Warburg. Even the helipads already exist - they would just need to add the helicopters themselves which should be relatively easy to accomplish.

I would say that building a tram monorail from the mainland to PI is closer in terms of technology and engineering to the Seven Mile Bridge, really. I'd also argue that this sort of thing might be a lot easier to do in the game's world, which has a huge labyrinth of underground sewers large enough for several groups of adventurers to romp around, has built gateways to other dimensions, and almost built launch pads to the moon. Oh and let's not forget, they were able to erect enormous walls around the city that have energy barriers on top of them. How much power do all those walls even require to remain operational 24/7?

Well I'm not saying they could not make a train bridge to PI because they can't do it from a technologic point of view. I'm merely suggesting that the cost of doing it (from a city budget point of view) would probably be prohibitive PRECISELY because they are already wasting all their money maintaining the War Walls, gateways to other dimensions and launch pads to the moon.

My guess is that much like many of the Japanese islands for instance it's just far easier (an cheaper) to maintain a ferry for most of the civilian traffic and let the high priority people (like our characters) have the option to take a helicopter there.

Oh the beta, a door near Ghost Falcon connected to the transit system. (At least for a while, haven't checked lately, I found it trying to ToT.) It needs to be added to the game full time! (VIP/Premium exclusive access?)

It was on live too for quite a while. Made traveling super easy for a rogue. It's been removed since.

Also, 5000 posts.
