Coyote Travel Power on the Market Today

This has absolutely nothing to do with 'selfish' or 'want now!' or any of that utter guff.
Well since one wouldn't be spending $ on the new PSOTM (powerset of the month), one has to make money somewhere. As is, I only buy costume pieces on a need-to basis anyway. Even if I see a piece I'd like to try in a costume, I can wait (Celestial and Fire&Ice?). It's only an issue for those with a selfish 'I want NAO!' attitude...even the 'must have everything' people really aren't a problem as they'd be buying the super packs for every extra goodie the market dishes out anyway. *Shakes finger at TA* I'd suggest just embracing the Super Packs. I quite like them myself. I've been needing something to spend my extra points on besides costumes and powersets that's actually worth the expense. |
This has EVERYTHING to do with "I will put points down when I so choose and I will receive costume parts or something equivalent for my points. I will NOT and flat out refuse to put points down with a CHANCE to get what I actually want, and run the high risk of getting absolute dross that holds interest for me only in negative amounts."
I would like the Elemental Order costume out of the pack, and that is it. The other stuff holds NO interest for me. Ergo, I refuse to have to gamble for what I want. That is not acceptable. Just because you've needed something to waste money on and gamble with doesn't mean everyone does. And I KNOW I'm not alone in this, going by the Beta board responses.

Absolutely. There's some nice costume pieces in that set, but I'm not gonna gamble for them. Put them up as a bundle and I'll buy them in a heartbeat.

It'd be cool if Coyote travel was unsuppressed movement. This way there'd be a point to use it over Ninja/Beast in missions, and there'd still be a drawback with the detoggling thing.
Given that you can't attack with it on, it seems to me like it is pretty much unsuppressed movement.

All the other stuff in the packs are worth what you pay for it and the costume bits are a nice bit of incentive to unlock on your way to getting ATOs or what have you.
But then, I don't feel entitled to everything being released how I want it (again Celestial/Fire&Ice) so having some exclusivity in how things are obtained is basically keeping the status quo.
Why should you be able to just unlock costumes in a poof while others have to wait or spend a sizable wad of points (haha Celestial/Fire&Ice again)? Because you're VIP? Pfft, entitlement much? I bet a lot of Prems spend more on this game than I do currently as a VIP so share in the struggle to get cool stuff
PS: I like the Elemental Order set to (mainly just the belt and gloves) but see no difference in locking them in SPs vs locking other sets behind incarnate content which is itself locked behind being a VIP. I say, tuff cookies to you and the rest. At least SPs come with other stuff my lowbies can use.

You seem to be completely ignoring the difference between the Packs and other methods.
The VIP parts (And this has nothing to do with being a VIP either, in fact I've set my sub to not auto-reknew next time it comes up, so thats projected fallacy right there) are a certainty. You will either get them in x months, or by buying points, whichever takes your fancy.
Costume packs, too, are a certainty. You give points, they give you parts. It's that simple. Ditto for in-game. You get x merits, you get parts. I still hate the level locked and trial gated Ascension armour just on principle, but it is, at least, a certainty.
The Super Packs are NOT a certainty. They are gambling. You ramble on about 'fairness', when one person might get all the parts in 10 packs while someone else might get them in 100. Is that, somehow, fair?
If so, well, I think we're done here frankly.

But at least the Roman pieces that I've complained about appear to be getting a conventional release allowing them to be used from level 1.

Getting uptight about entirely optional extras just because they're being released in a random way is ridiculous.
Main Hero: Mazey - level 50 + 1 fire/fire/fire blaster.
Main Villain: Chained Bot - level 50 + 1 Robot/FF Mastermind.

Is someone getting all the parts with 10 packs vs someone getting them over 100 fair? Well, it's not *unfair* because the guy with the 100 packs will have a slew of other great stuff too. I'd just say it's *unlucky*, but hey, I wasn't all that lucky last night so life is life.

You still have fun with it, and I very much like how the Super Packs are. Besides, unlocking one piece increases the chance of unlocking another.
Which is why I clarified the statement with the word "entirely".
If I lose my life, I lose all the things that go with it. For example, given that I wish the visit Japan this year, my life is not optional for that task, it is, in fact, required.
If you miss out on those costume pieces or wolf, the only thing you don't have are those costume pieces or wolf. They are entirely optional.

Life, as I said, is optional. One major focus of life is to seek to improve our options. It may be ridiculous, but it's life.

That's entirely besides the point. That is stuff I have no wish to be spending money on. It would be like if some costume packs were available in separate pieces as well as the pack, while others were not given that option. For example, the Gunsligner pack; the only piece that interested me, and thus the only one I bought, was the cigarette. I have bought no other parts of that pack. Now, if I'd HAD to buy an all or nothing pack, then I probably wouldn't have.
Because you're still getting other stuff? You're not getting nothing and just because you're not getting what you specifically want *now* doesn't mean you *can't*.

I don't see why I should potentially have to pay a metric butt-ton to get the parts I want, when there should be an option to get JUST the parts I want. It's the same 'incentive' as the Incarnate costume parts were; trying to get people to do stuff they otherwise have no inclination to do. And you know what? All that does is get people hacked off that they being fished for like that.
But, really, I get the feeling you're never going to agree, and I sure as hell am never going to be a fan or supporter of the Gamble Packs. So I suggest we just drop it.

Then they need to give us ways to spend it which we are happy with. Ways we are not happy with get ignored. Simple.

Given I want to visit Japan, my life is required for that task.
Quote:
If I wish to make a character using those pieces it's the same as wishing to visit Japan. |
Yes, if I wanted to go to Japan and take a very specific piece of artwork with me. Then that artwork would be required. But that doesn't make that piece of artwork any less optional than it was, as I am specifically attaching it as a requirement. I can still go to Japan without the artwork. The artwork is an entirely optional extra to my life and my trip to Japan.
Yes, if you specifically attach the requirement of those costume pieces to a character, then that character requires those pieces, but that doesn't make them any less optional.

Well, that's absolutely fine, if a company releases items you don't personally like, it'd be ridiculous if you did buy them.

This. Still no "talon" option for Claws to complete a werewolf, but I'd have bought a power that transforms you into a four legged canine in a heartbeat if it was a wolf form and not a coyote. But I also figured they could just add skins to the Rocket Board, rather than releasing an entirely new yet similarly themed travel power like Magic Carpet.
One thing I don't really get is, well... Why a coyote!? With all the wolf based costume parts in the game, it seems only sensible to me to do a wolf travel power, to give the werewolf characters in the game that full on final transformation vibe...

But considering this...

This is just our first foray into the animal-ish travel powers. There's plenty of fertile ground for us to draw material from. Based on the success of the Coyote Travel power, it's fairly likely you'll see other incarnations. |
Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.
good luck D.B.B.

Now the problem comes when the items I DO want...but the only delivery method is objectional and based on gambling.
But we've already had that discussion, and this thread is way, WAY off topic as it is.

Jeesh, how did my topic about last week's market release turn into such a flame war? Now everyone hug and make up, dang it! *glares*
Shadowblaze - Lvl 50 Dark/Thermal Cor, Alexander Kalsoa - Lvl 50 BS/Regen Scrapper, and a whole bunch of other Alts. Global is @Shadowblaze.
Oh? Buying a pack and having a chance to get the piece I actually want while having a large chance of getting none of the parts?
If that's not so close it doesn't matter I honestly don't know what is.

The next animal that should be released is something that has taken the internet by storm last year.
I'll let the video speak for itself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMNry4PE93Y
Okay, this does look spifffy!
But, somebody(?) really better re-think the pricing on future similar powers like this then... (And personally = I ain't buying it, OR the carpet travel power (not with the de-toggling crap), OR the vanity pets, OR well - I think you get my point.
I seriously suspect it's got something to do with NCsoft Korea => that AND the insane Lineage II pricing 400, 600, or 800 points for a freaking (7 days real-time) item, or even the Lineage "vanity items" are just stupid expensive!
Leveraging children's (&/or some adults) "gotta have it now"... then lose interest soon after & "gotta have the new one - now" costs be damned!
Yep, taking advantage of kids & their parents wallets/CC's (or adults with no impulse control) = IMO, That's surely gotta come with a one-way ticket to Gehenna/Hades - or at the very least a few dozen extra decades in Purgatory...
I got the Rocket Board Travel Power & some other stuff - like the barbarian bundle at a reduced price IIRC, the aura unlock, a bit of the account wide (extra storage/market slots) & the 2 extra Enh. Trays (which are overpriced) -> But... I went ahead and got them = after I dropped $100 on 9600 points when the market launched ~ in part ~ to fill out last of my the Paragon Token/Reward Tiers -> I didn't start playing around Issue 4/Jan. 2005. Before that - I'd put in a few hours on 1 character on a friend's computer while house-sitting... Okay, it was more like a couple days on a blaster - but debt was a serious PITA back then!)
I got no problem buying the new Powersets (But some of them ought to come with being a VIP - especially the ones that are mostly proliferated/remixed for another AT).
Still, someone ought tell BlackPebble, or the Korean Overlords(?) not to be too greedy - cause at some point it really builds-up resentment among the player-base.
