RP EVENT:

The UN Special Projects Division has greenlit The Axiom Guard SG, a joint hero/villain initiative aimed at defending our world from all dimension-threatening enemies. Join tomorrow at 730pmEST in the Vanguard base, RWZ.

OoC: This RP SG is aimed at characters of all backgrounds and origins who are globally-minded enough to realize that despite personal ideologies and backgrounds or plans for the planet, there are enemies to the entire dimension who want Primal Earth wiped from reality. In order to counter this, heroes and villains are being asked to gather together under a larger banner, allied with both Supergroups and Villaingroups to help provide a larger roleplaying environment for everyone from both sides of the game, in hopes of creating a more unified, but much broader community for the RP crowds. Single, groupless characters, as well as SG leaders alike are welcome to come and see if the events interest you to join in on.

IC: At 730pmEST, in the Vanguard briefing room, Christian "Xeden" James, current leader of the Axiom Guard supergroup, will be appealing to solo heroes, villains, and everything in between, as well as established groups/leaders looking to help build on the ideals of the UN SPD and create a larger unit of defense for out planet.

"Talitha Laurent" will be present to offer a few words of support from the UNSCSHA, and then I'll be there afterwards on some other character. It should be a lot of fun for all the attendees.

Not only will this be the opening recruiting event for the Axiom Guard, but other super groups and even some villain groups should be present -- a fantastic opportunity for those looking for RPSG/VGs to make some connections and see what some of the alternatives and various themes and styles currently are. Further, this is a chance for some of the newer RP SG/VGs to look for potential coalition partners. We will also be inviting attendees to join the Revival Project's global chat channel -- which any roleplayer is welcome to do at any time using "/chan_join Virtue RP Revival".

Hope to see you there!

Yeah... probably should have said something about a day of the week proper before posting something ambiguous like "tomorrow" so late at night.

I'm a stupid genius.

You guys thought about promoting this via formspring? A lot of the active RP community can be found there.

@Templar has created an AE mission arc, and volunteered it for an open IC run, Saturday at noon, Talos AE building.

Short plot synopsis: The Architect Entertainment company suspects tampering with they simbots. Is this a simple bug, or has the Crey Corporation bugged it for them? Be there on Saturday to find out!

I'm probably going to offend some people here, but I'm offended, so...there it is.

I joined this channel about a month ago, give or take. I see no difference between this and any other channel with roleplayers in it. Granted, there are some SG ads, teaming attempts, etc, and those things are great.

However, I have a problem with some of the conversations. For years now, I've heard complaints about roleplayers not being inclusive to outsiders. I've said that's bull. I think I was wrong. For years now, I've heard about roleplayers being snobs and elitists. I've argued that the community is what we make of it, and that I will play with any rp'er out there, even if it's just a conversation or one mission.

So, please, ask yourself this question: Am I one of those people who've made fun of or villified someone because they're not in lock-step agreement with my vision of what a roleplayer should be?

Because, I guarantee you, you will not unify the Roleplaying community when people feel they're being judged, stereotyped, or ignored.

I'm not talking about the drama llamas here or the people who cause trouble. I AM, however, talking about the people who march to the beat of a different drummer, the people who value doing something different than the status quo, and the people who want to set their characters apart. I'm also talking about those supposedly horrible people who add an M or E to their RP, those who add to their characters a depth that involves a personal life.

And finally, I'm talking about people like me. I play to enjoy the game, and I roleplay to enjoy the character and/or the story I'm trying to tell. I shy away from the big groups, because I have my own issues irl that are none of your darn business. I have 3 little groups that mostly house alts and friends, because my ability to recruit is spotty at best, and that's fine by me really. I started a global channel just so roleplayers can go "Hey! I'm running a TF/SF/team, and I want other rp'ers to come so we can all be in character!" without committing to a specific group or coalition.

Because, honestly, when I speak up in channels like yours? If anyone's listening at all, I'm getting drowned out or declared stupid for my views.

I really am sorry if I've offended you. I want to be part of a bigger community, I do. But not just to be a number, so you can say you have "This many" people. I want to have a voice for at least my little corner of the game.

I honestly have not seen any of that in VRP Revival. About the only problem I ever see is activity lulls for periods of time. But I don't think I've seen any inappropriate convos, insults, or anything like that. You sure you're not in Roleplayers LFT or RP Virtue?

No. This was Revival. It wasn't about being inappropriate. It happened today, and it was about how all of us rp'ers on villain side (with the exception of two VG's) are all ERP groups and a word I won't repeat here. And it's not the first conversation I've seen there that dumped on one kind of rp'er or group or another, just the latest.

Also, if I ever see any kind of innappropriate convos, insults, or the like going on in LFT, you can bet I step in and ask that it be stopped. I've only ever had to do it once, but...yeah.

I am one of the moderators on the Virtue RP Revival channel, and at a number of times in the past I've had to step in and guide the conversation away from destructively derogatory remarks about various roleplay styles and especially, put downs and public criticisms of Supergroups and Villaingroups.

For many prominent SGs or VGs, there's people who like some, people who don't, and a few others who essentially claim a group is evil and must be relentlessly persecuted in public for the greater good. I don't put up with that, and have had to take a moderation step against someone along those lines just once.

Most members seem to understand that if SG's and VG's are harassed whenever their names appear, they'll stop recruiting and everyone will lose from it. I consider it an unofficial channel policy that discussion of Supergroups may only be for recruiting and positive recommendations. This does leave out some possibly reasonable criticisms of some groups, but I consider the downside of allowing them on the whole to greatly outweigh any benefits.

It is the same with styles of Roleplay; be that MRP, ERP, Lore-based RP, mixed-genre or milieu RP, or whatever, the channel does not have a position for or against any of them. When members speak out prejudicially against some for of RP we guide the conversation quietly off that topic, or ask that it stop.

The same issue can arise for certain individuals who're loved by some and hated by others -- offering complements of others in public is encouraged, but personal criticism is not appropriate for a constructive public forum and we moderate that.

Now, this all sounds great; but consider in practice that moderators are not present 24x7, just like most other channels; nor are they always attentive to the moment by moment course of conversation in the channel. If there's a problem, send a tell to a moderator, and we'll do our level best to deal with it appropriately.

To your specific complaint, I can say that I have never heard such a discussion myself on the channel while I've been on, and I am on quite a lot, and had I heard it, would certainly have intervened.

First off, as one of the channel's founders, I would like to THANK you for having the bravery in the face of this kind of situation to speak your mind to us, even if it wasn't in the channel itself, and bring it to our attentions.

That said, I can say that I haven't seen many of these conversations pop up in the channel. We tend to try and put a cap on anything that comes up involving formal nouns or naysaying against groups, unless it is in the most bare, nonspecific sense, and even then, it isn't a long conversation.

The Virtue RP Revival channel wasn't made to be just "another RP global channel". We try to promote teams and SGs, sure, but the main point was to try and bring RPers together from all walks of the game, and host events to try and make RPing a larger, more public event, something a lot of channels don't take the time to try. In that, appealing to EVERY ONE of those walks of life is important. If we wanted to be selective we would have just made a supergroup.

ERPers will get ragged on. That's a pretty universal trait for everyone who doesn't partake. And while a few jabs can be tolerable, outright ousting and denouncing players isn't right. Regardless of content, it's STILL roleplaying. I put an M before the RP in my bio because I deal with serious, more graphic material such as death and bloodletting in my character's life. I'm no one to be giving grief to anyone else.

As I said above, we try to appeal to everyone who RPs. My SG is specifically geared in a direction that includes both heroes AND villains. To not like a group is a personal opinion. To denounce one and, as it sounds, drown you out in naysay about what you like isn't. And it isn't something that the channel mods will let happen, especially if someone is being made to feel ostracized for it.

In the future, please don't hesitate to say something to anyone in the channel with a rank. We will silence members, and we will say something to them in private. If need be, I'll kick someone from the channel if they aren't playing nice with others. It isn't what we're about nor do we advocate it.

So on behalf of those who said anything that may have angered or upset you, Scorpia, I do apologize. Behavior like that isn't and won't be tolerated if caught. The RP community is a community regardless of HOW they RP.

I'll admit, that rant was building for a while. I realize channel mods can't be there 24/7. Heck, I'm a mod of the LFT channel, and I'm not around all that much even after a forced hiatus in spite of my addiction to the game.

So, to the mods that have spoken here, thank you. I really appreciate that you'd take the time to say what you've said. I really honestly want to be some small part of the RP community, which is probably why I beat my head against this wall every so often. And further, I actually realized after I wrote that post that I'd spent time earlier today on a TF with non-rp'ers who were knocking rp'ers a little bit.

Normally, my skin's thicker. I guess I was just frustrated with this, because I did try to voice my objection to what was said in the channel, and I felt drowned out and ignored.

I'll give ya another try, and next time, I'll send you a tell or an email.

Everyone has their limits for RP, and what they want to be involved with, but really, you can say things in a channel like 'I was thinking about <SG/person/thing>, if anyone has any personal opinions, please PM me'. I don't play with certain types of RPers, I think everyone does to some degree, but there's no reason to drag a public channel through that, ******** about the RP that drives you insane is why you have a global friends list and personal channels

I'm shocked and amazed I haven't discovered this thread/channel before now - as one of the aforementioned Redside ****** RP'ers, I can assure you I intend to join the channel and disprove this stereotype forthwith!

@Mistress Rue
Yes, I RP and play Redside on Virtue - No, Rumors of its demise have been greatly exaggerated

Do you suck at COH/COV? not yet...

We're always happy to get new members, and if you play red-side a lot, you'll find we have quite a few members who're often looking for, and forming, red-side RP teams.

Our next event, the Praetorian Goodwill Summit will be coming up soon, within the next few weeks (possibly next weekend), so keep an eye out for more specific times!

My reporter character, Kherianda, has a new supergroup, WSPDR News Unlimited. I've also created a a public forum for posting ideas and suggestions for news stories.

If you or your group have had recent RP events that a news organization might have found out and that you would like to have mentioned or featured on our occasional in-game "news updates" broadcasts in Atlas Park over /request, please leave a message there.

I'll claim some creative freedom to keep them short enough for the "news update" format I use and to possibly massage content to keep our shared continuities from clashing too badly.

Story ideas can be almost anything, including stuff you make up out of whole cloth (most of the news I broadcast is like that now), and can follow a theme or storyline over an extended period.

I'd definitely like in on this for whatever people might need, just hit me up in-game! @premmy

Public RP Event!
Saturday, May 12th, 5pmEST

{IC information}
The Praetorian Goodwill Effort-

With Cole's Empire nearly decimated in the wake of the war with Primal Earth, his generals defeated and tactical strongholds taken out one by one, Praetoria is becoming a land with it's golden leading hand finding itself ever without a ruling body to lead it. The war has cost both Primal and Praetorian Earths much, by land and blood.

In keeping with the Axiom Guard's mission statement of forming a better and more extensively larger defensive net for our home planet, Xeden has begun planning a relief effort into Praetoria in an attempt to extend the olive branch to those wishing to leave the war behind, build ties between the sister-dimensions, and help both worlds to recover from their losses and, more importantly, protect one another.

"Two worlds so alike shouldn't be kept apart by fighting like this," Xeden commented, "A threat to one threatens the other, we're so entwined and connected now. Be it their Hamidon, or our Coming Storm, over time we will both be in danger. It would be wrong and foolish not to try and expand our personal borders and resources."

The Axiom will be appearing in the Magisterium on Saturday, May 12th, in their efforts to build what this war has torn down, and extend hands to those who would shake them.

{OoC information}
Much like the IC events in Astoria and the iTrials, this RP event is public to anyone who would like to attend, and is geared towards not only helping RPers to find potential allies, friends and groups, but purposed towards all of those Praetorian alt characters who have been collecting dust.

For the most part, a public RP will be going on. Badge, defeat progress, AV and zone event teams are very likely, though IC reasons for them will vary and be circumstantial as they come up.

Join global channel "Virtue RP Revival" in game, or contact me at @Two Across for more information, questions or suggestions. We will try to accommodate everything that we can.

I have a character I've dubbed as a free lance reporter. Lemme know if you'd like to use her in some way. Like I can have her be given assignments and do actual news article type write ups.

Side note, anyone done those news write up templates, willing to share how it's done?
