The Virtue RP Revival Project
I'd like to extend a great thank you to everyone who attended the Praetorian Goodwill RP this evening! The RP was all over the place, as it should be. There were characters from every background and alliance and motive, which played out nicely, and there was a lot of good rants about politics and the such!
Check out our IC thread for the follow up, and keep an eye out for more events in the near future!
This Friday, May 25th at 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time, The Cape Radio's DJ Valor will be joining Last Ward in Atlas Park for LiveWard'12, Last Ward's first ever RP Event/Recruitment drive! Inspired by events such as LiveAid and Live 8, DJ Valor will rock your speakers as Olympian T-01 and other Last Ward members recruit for their cause in the heart of Paragon City. Be sure to bring your best Primal and Praetorian themed costumes for our Two Worlds Costume Contest, with prizes of up to 10 million Inf.
No donations please. Join us in the park just south of the Hyperion Way marker this Friday! Free Coffee will be provided by The Cape Coffee Company (Now with 100% Less Nanites). Hope to see you there!
Hi VRPRPers! (What a moutful!)
Just spoke to Xeden in game today and he hadn't heard about an RP event myself and The Challengers are running on the 3rd June. I thought I'd put up a little post here inviting you all to it. (If Xeden missed the thread...I'm sure plenty of you did too!)
It's basically a mixture of AE missions and RPvP with a focus on recent events in the game (death of Statesman & Sister Psyche) and in the RP community (death of The Imperial). The event will have a "story" from start to finish. (Including a debriefing after the event with a chance to chill with your fellow heroes/villains and remenisce.) With the aim of the event being a chance for different SG/VGs to network with one another and make new friends, all the while enjoying a well designed RP event with an overarching story. Anyone is welcome to attend.
We're also hosting mini pre-event SG/VG briefings days in advance of the event. These entail one of The Challengers, or one of the event's villains, speaking to your supergroup in character, one on one, about what is going to be happening on the 3rd of June. Most of these pre-events aren't even taking place on the same day. (I'm meeting one villain group, for example, the weekend before; May 25th.) These are obviously to hype the event, and to allow different SG/VGs to feel more involved in the story.
Click the big picture below for more info if this sounds like your sort of thing:
I would like to apologize to the masses who have either partaken in this revival effort or been let down by it.
The Virtue RP Revival plan was set into motion some many months ago now by a small group of 5 or 6 Virtue RPers with the desire to see the community getting out and doing more, interacting, seeing new alliances formed, new friends made. We started out with a hell of a bang, things swelled and all was well.
In the time since, of the 5 or 6 of us who started out on this road, I am the only one still around or attempting anything to keep it going. Whether others just up and left, or quit playing or simply stopped talking about it, it's been some while since I had much help on any of this, or any of it's branch concepts such as the Axiom Guard SG or the RP thread here on the forums.
With life giving me little in the way of respite what with work, a car breaking down, work, bills, car repairs and work, I've been doing what I can in order to see that this entire thing doesn't slowly fall to the way side and become another forgotten notion. I've been planning events by my lonesome, I've been trying to keep the SG running alone except for the aide of but a few members not involved in the preplanning of it who are nothing short of patriots for the idea we've started.
To some circles, this has all been the result of me being "arrogant". I assure you, this is not the case. Anyone who knows me beyond the computer screen knows I'm a very easygoing person with far too many issues to like himself that much. Is my character an *******? Sometimes, certainly. But that's a separate individual. This has less to do with arrogance or wishing to be in command of things, and more to do with stress, frustration and a weary mind. I was never supposed to be taking all of this upon myself, so it all ending up on my shoulders was not the fault of arrogance. My character only accepted the position as leader of the Axiom under the conditions that he was the only one currently able to lead, and that he would be replaced as soon as someone more fitting could take his position, hardly arrogant.
To those who know what I'm talking about, this is my defense for whatever actions I may have taken or anything I may have said that came off more stern than it was meant to. To those of you who are reading this and hearing it for the first time, it is an explanation as to why the channel and SG and other facets of the Revival haven't been as active as initially hoped.
To all of you, again, it is an apology from me to you. It all started out as an idea to help the community. It's turned into something seen as less than that, and I am sorry for it.
So until further notice, the channel, threads and SG are all staying open. But we do need help from you all. Members stepping up to take charge, anyone looking to pitch ideas or organize events, all of it.
Go forth and enjoy i23.

Hi Xeden. I teamed with you on two different chars yesterday (Night Acrobat and Bronze Behemoth) and thought it was really fun! No problems here, I think you're doing a great job =)

This is all news to me, but I have to tell you that from what little I get to see, you're doing great just by doing all that you can. If I could step up to help, I would, but for me, RL is kicking my butt as usual, so I'm, as always, extremely unreliable. I hope someone else is able to step up and assist, and I will try to participate when I can.
Good luck.
I am new(ish) to the game and have mostly been lurking even though I am mainly on Virtue because I love RP, but finally I started joining the RP channels this week.
I have seen a very welcoming and friendly community, and while I've only been dipping my toes in RP while I learn the game mechanics, I've really liked what I've seen; I even went on a RP task force last week, and they were very gracious with my noobishness.
I'm sorry I've been so quiet (I'm a little shy about trying for general RP), but I wanted to say that the existence of the RP channels and threads has been very inspiring, and I'm planning on getting more involved in the future, though RL tends to keep my schedule random. Right now most of my RP has been with family/friends as we have sets of interconnected characters in small themed supergroups and it's easier to coordinate with them. But the existence of this effort has made a difference to us even if we've been quiet about it because we're still breaking the ice.
As I talked to Xeden/Two today, I want to see the VRP-Revival project succeed. While doing events for the Silver Aegis, I do intend to give a bit more open events so that people can unite and all that. Staaaay tuned
(Magisterum)
I really want to see this succeed as well, when I first joined CoH, I was amazed at how Virtue's very core seemed to revolve around open-play RP, everywhere...all the time, not just in small pockets here and there.
Since I'm back, with a new, fixed computer, and am able to succesfully keep my subscription up, Hopefully I'll find me an RPSG (or rejoin my old one *fingers crossed*) and start planning events as well.
Magisterum- 50+3 Fortunata--Virtue

http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=291034 <-- The first event of three that are coming from me for VRP-R
Much to my dismay, I am announcing that the RP SG Axiom Guard is closing it's doors soon. Reasons for so are largely spelled out in the lengthy rant post I made on the last page. It's taking a toll on me in-game and out and I just can't keep doing it anymore by myself.
I apologize to those members who haven't fallen prey to altitis. Events through the V Rp R will continue as scheduled and then some.
To that end, I am likely taking a sabbatical from the game to try and get the frustration out of my system that has been plaguing me for some while. I'll continue to try and orchestrate and sponsor events in-game and promote them here, even if I'm not actually RPing anymore to take part in them.
I don't know if this was every talked about or anything, but I remember back in the day that there were other places besides Pocket D to go and have some random public rping. Galaxy City was the biggest place that had that going on, but it's not really an option anymore.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is maybe we should start a new place outside of Pocket D where you can rp? Like some characters just wouldn't go to a nightclub, underage toons and the like. Does that sound like a good idea?
My vote is cave/lagoon islands in Talos and Peregrine. They're super cool looking.

The Monkey Cage - Sharkhead
The Golden Giza - St. Martial
Mercy City - Mercy Island
The Arena - Port Oakes
The Fab - Grandville (Lowbies might not like this area, lots of high-level Bane Spiders but beautiful and vast underground systems)
Aeon City - Cap Au Diable
My guides:Dark Melee/Dark Armor/Soul Mastery, Illusion Control/Kinetics/Primal Forces Mastery, Electric Armor
"Dark Armor is a complete waste as a tanking set."
