killing [Tough] animation
Or just before you zone. I usually activate offensive toggles just before zoning since offensive toggles will root you and zoning will let you cut that short.

Yeah it doesn't look so hot either on my little bunny DB/ElA scrapper.
Wow. I agree that the animation is kinda dumb, but a < 2 second animation that only plays once when you toggle up (So maybe a half dozen times in a play session, if you die or exemplar below the level of the power a few times) is the deal breaker?
I just can't wrap my brain around that. If it were a persistant or replayed at regular intervals, I could understand it, but this is just bizarre to me.

/powexec_name tough$$e dance
Seems to do to trick. It plays the dance emote instead of the regular one. You can try switching in other emotes and bind it to a key and use that to activate Tough.
Unfortunately there's still a chance the animation will play when you zone. I don't know what controls the order when the game try's to play all your "toggle-on" emotes at once.
In Paragon City since June 2005.
It's an unnecessary power, in any case. I have it on my WP Tank only because there wasn't anything else I really wanted to grab, and I often forget about turning it and Weave on. I find that they don't make enough difference to keep me alive in any situations where I'm in trouble without them.

With these two tricks, you can pretty much skip having to worry about the animation you do not want.

Thanks folks, I'll experiment with running and zoning tricks. And yes, it is a deal breaker. and no, I do not get it either.
Also, she is addicted to flying carpet and rocket board, so she toggles on/off a few more times than a veteran player might.
(It took me 15 min to talk her into getting the jetpack for Grandville) -She quietly started using it a few missions later and admitted that to me at the end of the play session. One too many tarantula attacks with no armors up is my suspicion.
And maybe in a few more decades when the Devs finally get around to doing more Power Customizations this'll be one of the first powers to get new animation options.

Tough and Hasten don't really require animations at all (activation time, sure) and we should get an option to turn them off entirely rather than having a menu of animation options.
...though the ;dance way of hiding Tough's animation is strangely hilarious. Behold! I express my increased toughness through INTERPRETIVE DANCE!
@Mindshadow
Well, or maybe it's a job for Null the Gull. Tough (and Hasten) are the other two "meta-powers" like the Fitness tree, where you have a numerically superior option that requires an annoying compromise (in Fitness' case, burning 3 power slots, for Tough/Hasten, a brief to extended period of looking like a dork).

Now we just need pool customization...
it has gone from unconscionable to downright appalling that we have no way of measuring our characters' wetness.

Seriously, I'm sure it would work with other emotes. I was trying it out on my netbook in coffee shop, which is a pain, and it was the first emote I could remember the name of.

hmm.... Are you aware that Fitness is now inherent? All new characters (and any old ones that you respec) get Swift, Hurdle, Health and Stamina automatically at level two.

Fitness, Tough and Hasten are numerically superior options, but nobody liked burning 3 power slots on a gym membership, just as nobody likes Rawr Smash or the Burning Hands of Shame, but we take them because it's numerically superior and endure it - and joy to those who are good enough they never need either power!
So now we don't have to burn 3 slots on the gym membership, and everyone is much happier. But we still endure the Burning Hands of Shame.
I mean, this is not exactly "omg stop the build" level problems here, but I'd like to know it's on someone's Quality of Life tweaks list, even if they're not going to get to it anytime Soon(tm).
Because I can totally endure a little shame for +70% recharge.
@Mindshadow
Is there any other way?

It would make waiting for Total Focus to finish animating so much better, in a "you're about to get served" kind of way.
You can totally see it, I'm sure. Some huge spiky demon mo-fo striding across the battlefield, hands aglow with spheres of power, doing an Air Guitar so awesome that people are stunned and then explode.
@Mindshadow
I always put first look and concept over funtionality and performance.
But yes, devs gotta now by now we want basic concepts that covers most things up. Chest beating animation and Tarzan scream are the most silly things in this game, along with the onion rings from super jump, fiery pom poms of dead from hasten and ultra bright mess of super speed.
I wish they were working on power customization for pools and epics, even if they sell it for VIPs at the store.

It's kind of like, I don't know, how Citadel Task Force is now - it's not that it suddenly became so much worse, but the newer things are done so much better that the things that weren't improved stand out in sharp relief.
And that's why we can never have nice things.
@Mindshadow
I suggest closing your eyes after clicking the power.
Your character does not have capped defense. Depending on your AT the cap is between 175% - 225%. Your defense is not teal in the combat window, it can go higher. STOP SAYING IT IS CAPPED! The correct term is Soft Cap.
I enjoy playing in Mids. I specialize in Melee Characters, other AT's usually bore me.
I don't love the beathing the chest gorilla routine for turning on Fighting: Tough, but I run all male character tough guys. I deal with it. It is stupid 99% of the time. But, meh.
My wife however refuses to turn on the power on the Tank i am helping her with. A willpower tank (especially using SOs) needs this.
Is there any way to kill the animation on this thing?
